The White County Heritage Museum will be getting new flooring.
The White County Commission approved $21,000 for the project. Co-Director Peggy Hurteau said the new wood-grained floor will better complement the historic displays.
“The flooring that we have is carpet,” Hurteau said. “It’s been here 13 years, so you can imagine with people coming in and out it is in bad shape. We feel like it needs to be more attractive to people.”
Hurteau said a start date has not been shared, but the museum will have to close for a couple of days. Hurteau said a big part of the project is removing displays from the building.
“We want to be in charge of that moving,” Hurteau said. “The contract that we have for the new floor that includes them moving the items, but some of the items are delicate and old. We will be moving those ourselves or right here directing how to move them.”
Hurteau said any closures will be posted on the Chamber of Commerce website in future.
