White BOE Hopes To Break Ground On Findlay This Summer

The White County Board of Education’s plans for a new Findlay Elementary are moving forward.

Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger said they hope to break ground this summer and open in the fall of 2019.

“We’ve hired Lewis Group Architects out of Knoxville, they have an initial schematic design and they’ve drawn some 3D imagery and at this point, they’ve released that to their construction consultant to start talking about materials,” Dronebarger said.

The school will be built on county property near the existing school. Dronebarger said the board of education and the county commission will do a “land swap.”

“We’ve already done surveying on those properties and that land, they’re just trying to work out the logistics of that administratively, how we actually do the swap,” Dronebarger said.

In the meantime, both groups will continue on as usual until it’s time for the switch, he said.
