Reports indicate Wendy Gentry attempted to file for bankruptcy protection.
An attorney for Gentry filed earlier this month in federal bankruptcy courts. The petition was denied a week later citing the best interest of the creditors.
Gentry and her husband have been under federal investigation since December. Civil lawsuits related to the criminal case accuse the pair of conducting a Ponzi-like scheme involving dozens of investors.
Just last month, the U.S. Marshals Service conducted an inventory of property at their former business, Gentry Bros. Tractor Supply. The marshals service will reportedly hold an auction at that site next month.
