Weekend Ice Skating Rink Back At Livingston’s Central Park

Livingston residents enjoying the return of Central Park’s annual weekend-long ice skating event.

Park Supervisor Michael Hayes said the city creates a temporary skating rink each winter just for this event. This marks the third year of the free event.

“It’s just something that we came up with several years ago and the community really enjoys it,” Hayes said. “It’s something different, like I said the community really enjoys it, and it’s been a big success throughout the years.”

Hayes said the event will be held from 1:00pm to 9:00pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Hayes said there will be multiple Christmas movies playing at the rink for skaters to enjoy. Hayes said there will be hot chocolate and popcorn available alongside the movies. He said the city holds the free event each year because they want to provide a fun and unique Christmas activity to the public.

“It’s just something great for the community, and it gives something for the kids to do in the community,” Hayes said. “There was not a skating rink in the area. What this is, is it’s just a skating rink that we put down and then skaters can come and skate. So this is not permanent, this is something we bring in each year.”
