Wednesday Fire Destroys Gainesboro Home

A fire destroyed a home  on Walnut Street in Gainesboro today.

Fire Chief Paul Stafford said the blaze broke out in an upstairs closet and spread to the attic.

“There was some guys there working and they said there was some kind of pop that came from a closet,” Stafford said. “We aren’t sure if it was outside electric wiring issues or what. We haven’t had a chance to investigate yet.”

Stafford said the home was being remodeled at the time and not many were items inside.

about 15 firefighters worked the scene for about two hour and no injuries were reported.
