Because of impassable roads from Warren County to Cumberland County, National Weather Service meteorologists will not visit Sunday to survey damage.
Forecasters will assess the damage from Sunday morning’s storms. Much of the damage will likely be from straight-line winds. Severe thunderstorm warnings issued in the area Sunday suggested winds in excess of 70mph.
A tornado warning was also issued for the area around the Cumberland-White-Putnam County line for a radar-indicated tornado. Several of the storms across the mid state showed some brief tight rotations.
Meteorologists can examine the damage, looking at the way trees were downed to see the type of damage. They will also examine the path of the storm.
Nashville forecasters will visit the area Monday to assess the damage.
