Obituaries For Wednesday, October 2

Visitation for Mr. Jimmie Ellis York, age 75 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, October 2nd from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. A private graveside service and interment with military honors will be held Thursday, October 3rd at Algood City Cemetery. He passed away Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A celebration of her life for Mrs. Janice Carol Walker age 73 of Livingston, will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 1 PM. Burial will follow in the Overton Co. Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Walker went home to be with her Lord at her residence on September 30, 2019. Mrs. Walker was born in Monterey on August 5, 1946 to the late Elmer and Geneva (Honeycutt) Lambert. Janice loved her family and friends very much and she will be greatly missed. Survivors: 1 Daughter: Lisa Lisi and her husband Rick; 1 Sister: Delean Lafever; 1 Brother: Clifton Lambert and his wife Janie; 5 Grandchildren:Zack Barnes, Tyler Barnes, Marco Lisi and his wife Whitney, Ricky Lisi, John Lisi; 1 granddaughter: Gina Leonard; 2 Great Grandchildren: Angelia Leonard, Gabriella Lisi; 1 Great Grandchild: Lucca Lisi; A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive. Preceded in death: In addition to her parents; Her husband Clyde Walker. Janice’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, 2nd starting at 5 PM until 8 PM.

Funeral Services For Bessie Grant, Age 82, Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted On Thursday, October 3, 2019, At 2:00 PM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Scottie Sisco Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Woodcliff Cemetery. Mrs. Grant Was Born On January 25, 1937, In Middlesboro, Kentucky, To The Late Joshua And Martha Montgomery Golden. Mrs. Grant Passed Away On Monday, September 30, 2019, At NHC Healthcare In Cookeville. Mrs. Grant Was A Factory Worker Retiring From Fleetguard. She Was A Member Of Woodcliff Baptist Church. She Is Survived By, 3 Daughters, Shirley Bilbrey Of Monterey, Audrey (And Sam) Crye Of Crossville, Loretta Randolph And Companion, Carroll Johnston Of Denham Springs, LA; Son, Jerry Williams Of Monterey; Stepson, Jason Grant Of Monterey; 7 Grandchildren; 16 Great Grandchildren; And Sister, Viola Carroll Of Middlesboro, KY. In Addition To Her Parents, She Was Preceded In Death By Her Husband, Daniel Grant; 2 Sons, Hank Williams And Joe Brown; Granddaughter, Christy Anderson; And 3 Brothers, Silas, Martin And Jack Golden. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Thursday, October 3, 2019, From 12:00 PM Until Time Of Services At 2:00 PM.

Funeral services for Robert J. (Bobby) Wade, 74, of Bloomington Springs, will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the John Young Cemetery in the Shiloh community of Jackson County. He passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born October 17, 1944, to the late Verble F. Wade and Mildred M. Wade. On April 22, 1968, he was married to the late Linda Lucille Pippin Wade, who passed away May 3, 1999. He was a retired pipeline superintendent, and was a member of the Shiloh Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army 35th Combat Engineers during the Vietnam War. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 3 Brothers: Fred L. Wade, Michael Ray Wade, and Anthony (Tony) Gene Wade; and 2 Sisters: Pauline (Polly) Martin and Sheila Wade Glover. Survivors include 1 Son: James Verble Wade and wife, Sabrina of Bloomington Springs; 1 Daughter: Paula Denise Byers and husband, Keith of Cookeville; 8 Grandchildren: Hailey Byers, Tanner Wade, Allison Byers, Payton Wade, Gatlen Wade, Wyatt Byers, Mason Wade, and Emily Wade; 1 Great Grandchild: Weston Byers; 1 Expected Great Granddaughter: Ariel Kate Wade; 2 Sisters: Frances Wade Poston of Baxter, and Linda Sue Wade Bellamy of Nashville; and 3 Brothers in Law: William Glover of Lebanon, Dewey and Nancy Pippin, and Roy Pippin. Many special cousins, other relatives, and friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Thursday from 10 A.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children by contacting the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Sue Bradley Lee, age 86 a native of Sparta, will be conducted 3:00pm Thursday, October 3, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Big Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Lee passed away Monday, September 30, 2019 at Quality Care Health Center in Lebanon. Mrs. Lee was born July 26, 1933 in Sparta to the late Casto & Celesta Pogue Bradley, Sr. She was a homemaker and loved her church and family. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband John Thomas Lee; siblings T.W. Bradley, Ocie Bradley and Vina Dutton. Survivors include her brother Casto “Cassie” Bradley, Jr.; Nephews: Thomas (Vicki) Dutton, David (Shelia) Dutton, Eugene Bradley; Nieces: Annette (Greg) Whittaker, Cindy (Tim) Henry, Keleena (Darrin) Norris, Ocelia Bradley. The family will receive friends Thursday from noon until service time at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Jean Elizabeth Davey Krantz, age 84, of Rickman, will be conducted 7 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2019 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Case will officiate. Burial will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, October 4, 2019 at the Wirmingham Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Thursday evening from 4 until time of services at 7 p.m. at the Livingston Funeral Home. Mrs. Jean passed from this life on Monday night, September 30, 2019 from the Overton County Health & Rehab. She was born in Lacombe Alberta Canada on November 22, 1934 to the late Ellis & Pearl Clark Davey. Jean loved animals, flowers in her yard, going out to eat with her friends, and collecting glassware. She loved to travel with her husband Verlon when he was in the Navy and throughout their lives.

Funeral services for Sue Gentry Burgess, age 86, of Cookeville will be held Friday, October 4th, 2019 at 11:00 am with Pastor Dow Allen officiating. Interment will follow in West Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 3, 2019, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Friday, October 4, 2019, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Presley Funeral Home. Sue passed away Sunday, September 29, 2019 at her home in Cookeville, Tennessee following a brief illness. Sue was born Wednesday, November 9, 1932 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Herbert Gentry and Cordelia Bray Gentry. Sue loved the Lord and was a member of United Free Will Baptist church in Cookeville.

The family of Sandra Kay Kozub, 77 of White County, will receive friends on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 1-3 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Sandra passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019 at her home in White County, after a long illness. She was born November 2, 1941, to Carl and Deloris Nye in East Lansing, Michigan. She attended local schools and Michigan State University. In 1965, she married Raymond Kozub, then a graduate student at MSU. From there, the family moved to Bryan, Texas, then to Stamford, Connecticut, then to Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and finally, in 1977, to Cookeville. Sandra was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She also did accounting and bookkeeping work outside the home on various occasions, and served for short periods as Administrative Assistant in the Department of Physics and in the Department of Mathematics at Tennessee Technological University. Sandra had an intense interest in and compassion for animals, especially dogs. She ran a breeding and show kennel (KcK Kennels) at the family’s home in White County, where she produced many champion German Shepherd Dogs and Norwegian Elkhounds. She traveled to many dog shows all over the United States. In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her daughter, Racheall Hitchcock and sister Linda Brokaw. She is survived by Raymond Kozub, her husband of 53 years, her sister Geraldine Ranshaw of Mason, MI, her son John Kozub (Jinny) of Mount Juliet, grandchildren Nicole Kozub of Mount Juliet, Samantha Tipton (Ben) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Amanda Hitchcock (Brandon) of Jacksonville, FL, and Christopher Kozub (Megan) of King George, VA, three great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Arrangements are being handled by Oak Lawn Funeral Home at 1786 Smithville Highway in Sparta. Sandra’s wish for cremation will be honored.

Celebration of Life for Theresa Ann Gragg, 63 of Cookeville, will be held from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 5:00 pm. Theresa passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at her home. Theresa was born Sunday, October 16, 1955 in Warren, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Fred Nixon and the late Minnie Lee (Hendrickson) Nixon. Theresa is survived by: Daughter: Tonya C. Loftin; Grandchildren: David Loftin and Anessa Loftin; Nephew: Brian and Megan DiBianca and their children; Niece: Rina and John Andres. In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by: Sister, Sheila DiBianca. Visitation with the family will be held Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Shirley Phipps, age 95 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, October 6, 2019, 3:00 PM at Caney Fork Baptist Church, Cookeville, Tennessee. Interment with military honors will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery, also in Cookeville. Rev. Steve Thornton, Rev. Jeff Crabtree and Rev. Ben Crabtree will officiate. She went home to be with his Lord, October 1, 2019, at Bethesda Health Care Center. He was born September 24, 1924 in Monterey, TN, to the late James Curtis and Malissie Bilbrey Phipps. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 5, 5-8 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home, and again Sunday, from 2 p.m. until service time, at the church.

Memorial Graveside Services for Mary Mae Clark, age 88 of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 11:00AM at Zion Hill Cemetery. Pastor Tommy Harris will officiate. Mary Mae Clark passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mary was born on January 5, 1931 in Alamo, Indiana to the late Charles and Bertha (White) Ammerman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Sister and 2 Brothers.
