Obituaries For Wednesday, March 11

Robert Allen Underwood, 88, of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020 in Rover Oaks of Loudon. Funeral arrangements are in-complete at this time.

Funeral services for Patricia McNeal, 62, of Cookeville will be held Thursday at 12 noon at Brotherton Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Brotherton Cemetery. Patricia’s family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the chruch. She died Saturday, March 7 at 1:06 pm at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mr. David W. Maxwell, Jr., age 94 of Baxter, will be held Thursday, March 12th at 1:00 p.m. at the Baxter chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at Samuel Maxwell Cemetery. His family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday from 11:00 a.m until service time at the Baxter chapel. Mr. Maxwell died Saturday evening, March 7th at 9:22 p.m. at his residence.

Funeral services for Hattie Jo Collins, 4 year old daughter of Matt and Macy England Collins of Cookeville, will be held Friday March 13 at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. Hattie Jo passed away Tuesday morning March 3, 2020. Hattie’s family will receive friends Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Eunie Marie Randolph, age 82 of Baxter, will be held Friday, March 13, 2020 beginning at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral with Bro. Jerry Buckner and Bro. Corey Price officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. She passed from this life Sunday, March 8, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born Thursday, July 29, 1937 in Baxter. She was the daughter of the late O.W. and Ethel (Allison) Dilldine. Marie was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She was of the Baptist Faith. She loved gardening and raising flowers. Marie is survived by her Husband: Clayton C. Randolph of Baxter. 1 Son and Daughter-in-law: Mike and Aimee Randolph of Baxter; 2 Grandchildren: Carter Clay Randolph of Baxter, Katie Beth Randolph of Baxter; A host of Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 1 Brother: W. Gene Dilldine. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, March 12, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and again on Friday March, 13, from 10:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm.

Funeral services for Mrs. Almedia (Gravitt) Smith, age 87 of Quebeck, will be conducted 11:00am Saturday, March 14, 2020 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. She passed away the morning of March 10, 2020, at Life Care Center of Rhea County. Almedia was born August 19, 1932, to the late Lawrence and Rose Lee (Knight) Gravitt. She grew up in Rhea County and later moved to Chattanooga. In 1953, she married Mr. Benny J. Smith. They were married for over 66 years, during which she created a stable and loving home through several moves across the United States. They spent many years in Florida before returning to Tennessee. Almedia worked most of her life in the food service, beauty and apparel industries. She retired from Red Kap in 1997 and Ben and Almedia spent the remainder of retirement on their farm in Quebeck. Her exceptional cooking and baking skills—especially of desserts—were legendary with local restaurants and at family gatherings. She had a continually inquisitive mind and was a lifelong student through reading. Almedia loved watching the birds at her feeders, especially hummingbirds, and always kept binoculars by the kitchen window. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Benny J Smith and two siblings, Verla Vernice (Gravitt) Jackson and Lawrence Leon Gravitt. Surviving family members include her brother: Clarence Gravitt; two daughters: Anita Ann Worthington and Rose Marie Dunning; and one son: Ronald Joe Smith. Six grandchildren remember their grandmother’s love and cooking: Jennifer Parks, Cody Vineyard, Jason Worthington, Nathan Worthington, Victoria Shiller, and Kayla Evans. The extended family includes nine great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends after 10:00am Saturday at Hunter Funeral Home.

Memorial services for Mrs. Bettie Louise Maxwell , age 88, of Cookeville, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday March 14 at Dyer Funeral Home with her son, Michael Maxwell officiating. Bettie passed away Thursday March 5, 2020 at Bethesda Health Care. Mrs. Maxwell passed away Thursday March 5, 2020 at Bethesda Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 26, 1931 in Tazewell, TN to the late Millard Cosby and Birdie Sulfridge Cosby. Mrs. Maxwell was a retired manager for Estee’ Lauder. She is survived by two sons, Michael Maxwell of Cookeville, and Jeff and Tammy Maxwell of West Lafayette, IN., and six grandchildren.Her family will receive friends Saturday March 14, 2020 from 1 p.m until service time.

Graveside Services for Paul Garrison, age 81 of Cookeville will be held March 28, 2020 at 2pm at Boma Cemetery. He passed from this Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Monday, March 28, 1938 in Gainesboro, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Vestel and Annie (Ramsey) Garrison. Paul was a Machinist and retired from Clawson, Michigan. The family has chosen cremation.

Memorial services for Wayne H. Lawton, 72, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. He was born April 28, 1947, in Pawtucket, RI, to the late Albert Forrest Lawton, Sr. and Betty Mo Mitchell Lawton. On December 14, 2003, he was married to Carol Sue Dailey Lawton, who survives. He was a truck driver, and served in the U.S. Army. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his Wife: Carol Sue Dailey Lawton of Cookeville; 1 Son: Caleb Lawton of Cookeville; 2 Daughters: Christina (Edward) Laquerre and Jaclyn (Tony) McCloud, all of Cookeville, TN; 8 Grandchildren: Patrick, Eric, Dylan, Amara, Marcus, Haven, Balon, and Kayson; 6 Great Grandchildren: Gayvn, Alina, Abigail, Jaden, Logan, and Bailey; 1 Brother: Albert Lawton, Jr. of RI; 1 Sister: Janice Trottier of RI; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 28, 2020 from 9 A.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project by contacting the funeral home.
