Obituaries For Wednesday, July 31

Glenn Don Dougherty, 89 of Sparta, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at his home, in Sparta. Born Tuesday, January 28, 1930 in Clawson, Michigan. He was the son of the late Omar and Dora Doughtery. No services are scheduled at this time.

James “Lucky Man” Hutson, 63 of Sparta, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at his home. Funeral Arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Funeral services for Doyle Junior Bumbalough, age 77, of Cookeville will be held Thursday, August 1st, 2019 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Davis and Bro. Tex Boles officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington of Tennessee Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Thursday, August 1, 2019, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Presley Funeral Home. Doyle Junior Bumbalough went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 28, 2019 at his home in Cookeville, Tennessee with his loving wife, Glenda Louise Nabors Bumbalough by his side, holding his hand after 58 years of marriage, and his close family. He was born Friday, March 13, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Lennie Mae Brewington Bumbalough. Junior attended Phifer Mountain Free Will Baptist Church where he was a member. For over 50 years, he owned/operated Bumbalough’s Service Center and Towing Service. He will long be remembered for the love he had for his family and children.

Funeral services for Mrs. Clarice Louise Smith Stover, age 94, of the Ozone Community will be conducted 1 p.m., Thursday, August 1, 2019 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Bro. J.D. McDonald will officiate. Burial to follow in the Sells Cemetery on the Ozone Road. Mrs. Clarice passed from this life on Monday morning, July 29, 2019 from the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born in Pickett County on October 9, 1924 to the late Arnold & Agnes Sells Smith. Clarice worked for many years feeding the many children of the Overton County School System. She was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much. Clarice enjoyed flowers of all kinds and gardening. She enjoyed cooking for her family, going to Church and reading. Clarice leaves behind her sons, Robert Stover & wife Lillian of Houston, TX, Ron Stover & wife Jean of Rogers Arkansas, Rick Stover of Franklin, Ray Stover & wife Pam of Monroe, and Russell Stover & wife Gina; daughters, Reba Johnson & husband Aaron of Rickman, Ruby Jenkins & husband Johnny of Monroe, and Rhonda Walker & husband Eric of Morrison; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Frances Smith of Livingston; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Clarice was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Stover; grandsons, Eric Stover, and Bryan Stover; sisters, Christene Daniel, Inogene Smith, Ruth Kennedy, and Juanita Rainwater; brothers, Charles, Ray, and Ralph Smith. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at Livingston Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Roy Lee Hix, 78, of Gainesboro, will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. He passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born April 25, 1941, in Gainesboro, to the late Willard Hix and Jewell Jenkins Hix. On December 24, 1969, he was married to Betty Ruth Hix, who survives. He worked as the manager of the Jackson County Co-Op for 18 years. He was a member of the Free State Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Brothers: Jack Hix, Sr. and Joe Hix; and a Special Niece: Jo Helen Wright. Survivors include his Wife: Betty Ruth Hix of Gainesboro; and 2 Sisters in Law: Mary Helen Wright of Cookeville, and Judy Hix of Hendersonville. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Thursday from 11 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral services for Mr. Mark Davis Manus, age 42 of Sparta, will be conducted at 11am Friday, August 2, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Mark passed away Monday, July 29, 2019. Mark was born January 29, 1977 in Cookeville to Monte Ray and Pamela Davis Manus. He was a 1995 graduate of White County High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Tennessee Tech University. Mark had a successful career in logistics, most notably for FedEx Ground. As an only child, Mark grew up as a movie buff who could quote any line from any film, a music lover of all genres, a devoted fan of pro wrestling and UT football, and an avid golfer. Mark will best be remembered as a good guy and loyal friend. Mark’s loving family includes his Parents: Monte & Pam Manus; Grandparents: Mary Anna & the late Dean Thompson, the late Bob & Sue Davis, and the late Rady & Betty Manus; Aunts: Annette Fuqua & husband Roger, Babs Stone & husband Bob; Cousins: Ashley Wright & husband Brad, Hope Trisdale and daughter Haley, Misty Shirley & husband Buryl & daughter Mary Carter. The family will receive friends from 4pm-7pm Thursday at Hunter Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Life Church Dollar Club, 2223 North Washington Avenue, Cookeville, TN 38501.

Funeral services for Walter Smartt Fitzpatrick, Jr., age 82 of Cookeville, will be held Friday August 2nd at 12 noon at Collegeside Church of Christ with Bro. John Nichols and Bro. Buddy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Fitzpatrick died Tuesday July 30, 2019 at the age of 82. He was born on March 4, 1937 to Walter Sr. and Bernice Harley Fitzpatrick who preceded him in death. His brother Sam R. Fitzpatrick lives in Johnson City; one sister Alice Kay (KK Fitzpatrick) and husband Acie Mitchell of Gunbarrel, TX; one sister-in-law Nancy (Black) widow of brother David R. (Ronnie) Fitzpatrick who preceded him in death. Walter loved and admired his two sons, five grandchildren and their five spouses (all 12 graduates of TTU, several with advanced degrees). Jeff and Angela (Wright) Fitzpatrick; Blake and Jennifer (Dyer) Fitzpatrick; Jordan and Becky (Wall) Fitzpatrick; Parker and Haley Elizabeth (Fitzpatrick) Teeter; Tristan and Catherine Hunter (Fitzpatrick) Archer; and one smiling great-grandchild, Caroline Blake Fitzpatrick, infant daughter of Jordan and Becky. The grandchildren and their spouses are pall bearers. Honorary pall bearers are: Jim Atnip, Curtis Shinsky, Bob Wheatly, Greg Wheatly, Phil McCanless, Marty Kelly, John Rhodes, Jim Loyd, David Fox, Joe Erdeljack, Randy Spurlock, John Magura and David Vaughn. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m. at Collegeside Church of Christ and Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. A Celebration of Life Service for Charles William Rogers, 63 of Silver Point, will be held Friday, August 2, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. A Private Family Gathering will be held at a later date. He passed from this life Monday, July 29, 2019, at his home in Silver Point. He was born Monday, July 9, 1956 in Cocoa, Florida. He was the son of the late William Rogers and the late Elizabeth Lusk. Charles was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, and friend to all who knew him. He worked over 30 years as a motorcycle mechanic, and enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was also an excellent auto mechanic and body repairman. He played at hunting but never brought home anything.

Funeral Services for John Alfred Johnson, age 63 of Dayton, OH, formerly of Cookeville, will be held 1 pm Saturday, August 3. 2019 at Hooper Huddleston, and Horner Funeral Home, 59 N. Jefferson Ave., Cookeville, TN. Officiant from McClellan Ave. Church of Christ presiding. Visitation 11am-1pm, Interment Algood Cemetery. He was born September 3, 1955 in Cookeville, TN, departed this life Friday, July 19, 2019. John was a member of the Residence Park Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Miss Alyssa Ann Booher, age 18 of Livingston, will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 2 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Mineral Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, August 2nd Starting at 4 PM until 9 PM then on Saturday morning starting at 9 AM until service time at 2 PM. with Bro. Kevin Sexton and Bro. Isaiah Booher officiating the service. She passed from this life on Friday, July 26, 2019. Miss Alyssa Ann Booher was born in Livingston, Overton Co., TN on August 1, 2000 to Eddie Ray Booher and Shelia Wallace Jones. Alyssa was a Correctional Officer and was a member of the Mineral Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Alyssa was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Agnes Geneva Booher Carter, age 83, of the Taylor’s Crossroads Community of Monroe will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, August 4, 2019 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Richardson Cemetery. Mrs. Geneva passed from this life in the comfort of her home on Sunday Afternoon, July 28, 2019. Geneva leaves behind her husband, Stanley R. Carter Sr.; sister, Betty Jean Booher Burks; sons, Dr. Willie Joe Carter & wife Luba, Jimmy Walter Carter & wife Janie, Dr. Johnnie Clarence Carter & wife Sherry, and Stanley Carter Jr. & wife Chanda; daughter, Mary Jean Carter Jolley & husband Tom; grandsons, Michael Carter, Jackson, Carter, Cullen Carter, Christian Brown, and Stanley Carter III; granddaughters, Amanda Phipps Taylor, Sandy Carter, Jade Carter Cross, Betsy Jolley, Kristen Carter, Bailey Carter, and Cassie Carter; great-grandchildren, Emily Taylor Sherman, Evelyn Taylor, Cambrie Cross, Carter Cross, Emmitt Ogletree, and Garrett Jolley. Geneva came from a rather large family that consisted of two brothers and five sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Chris Junior Booher, Wayne Edward Booher; sisters, Joyce Leallice Danner, Evelyn Marie Mathis, Pansy Louise Booher and Geraldine Booher. Geneva was also preceded in death by one child, Wilma Joan Carter Brown Dennis; and two grandsons, Jonathan Corey Phipps and Benjamin “Ben” Fredrick Jolley. The family will welcome friends on Saturday evening, August 3, 2019 from 5 until 9 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.
