Obituaries For Wednesday, August 4

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joanette “JO” Marie Haugk, 95 of Silver Point, will be held Thursday, August 5 10 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Cookeville. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Haugk passed peacefully Sunday, August 1 at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville surrounded by her loving family. Jo was a store clerk until she retired in her 80’s at Corner Grocery in Silver Point, where she was known Ms Jo. Jo was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, fishing and going to the casino. Survivors include her children, Karen (Jim) Menke, Joyce (Tim) Overholt, Jim (Ellen) Haugk, Bob (Janice) Haugk, Jack (Diana) Haugk, and Linda Haugk. The family thanks her special friend, Bobbie Watts from St. Thomas Aquinas Church for her visits, prayers and communion while Jo was in Bethesda. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM at Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home and at the church Thursday after 9 AM until service time.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Elva Dean Day, age 88 of Livingston, will be conducted 1 PM Thursday, August 5th from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Rev. Donald Fossey will officiate. Burial will be in Ruth Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Day passed from this life on Monday afternoon, August 2 from the Overton County Health and Rehab Center. She was a member of Ruth Chapel Church. Elva loved quilting, gardening, cooking, and baking cakes and pies for friends and loved ones. Mrs. Day leaves behind her sons, Dale (Linda) Day, Earl (Debra) Day. The family will welcome friends on Thursday from 11 AM until the time of services at 1 PM.

Funeral Services for Donald Joe Robbins, 58 of Sparta, will be on Thursday, August 5 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home at 1 PM with Bro. Don Shuster officiating, burial to follow at Young Cemetery. Mr. Robbins passed away on Saturday July 31. Pa Joe was a carpenter by trade for over 40 years. He enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play ball, and fishing. Surviving family includes his wife of 34 years, Peggy Robbins; and their children, Joey (Katie) Young, and Laura (Dustin) Robbins. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 4 at the funeral home from 4 PM – 8 PM.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emma D. Stover age 77 of Livingston, will be held on Thursday, August 5 at 1 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Green Hill Cemetery in Alpine, Overton Co. Mrs. Stover passed from this life on Sunday, August 1 at her residence with her family by her side. Mrs. Emma was the former owner of the Stover’s Restaurant and loved to see each customer that walked through her door. She loved her family very much and she will be greatly missed. Survivors include her Husband, Joe Stover; and sons, Scott ( Patricia) Stover, and John (Candy) Lovelace. Family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 4th starting at 5 PM until 9 PM.

Funeral services for Mr. Julius C. Cunningham, age 74 of Cookeville, will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, August 5 at the Church of Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sparta Ward with burial in Young Cemetery. Mr. Cunningham passed away at 5:50 pm Monday, August 2 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends after noon Thursday at the church.

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Allen Presley, age 64 of Spencer, will be conducted 11:00am Friday, August 6 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Town Cemetery in Spencer. Mr. Spencer passed away on Monday, August 2 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Jimmy retired after a long career at TDOT and in retirement needed to work so he worked at Robinson’s Store in Spencer. Everyone that knew Jimmy, knew he loved to laugh and have a good time especially when it came to telling fishing and hunting stories. Jimmy loved the outdoors, whether he was hunting or fishing but he also loved gardening. He took great pride in his garden and grew it not for himself to but to be able to serve others with it. Jimmy also took great joy in watching people eat his hot peppers. Survivors include his mother, Daisey Presley; and children, Tara Scott, Angie (Mike) Dickerson, Kyle Shoupe, Allen Shoupe, and Zain Shoupe. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Jeffrey Scott Greenwood, 51, of Crossville, formerly of Cookeville, will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021, at 3 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community of Jackson County, TN. He passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021, at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville, TN. He was born May 1, 1970, in Cookeville, TN, to the late Aaron Rajjoe Greenwood and Bonnie Sue Bryant Greenwood. On February 12, 1999, he was married to Angela Greenwood, who survives. He was a mechanic and carpenter, and a member of the Double Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include his Wife: Angela Greenwood of Crossville, TN; Sons: Austin Greenwood and Dylan Greenwood, both of Crossville, TN, and Scott Greenwood of Maryville, TN; Daughters: Kendra (James) Morris of Maryville, TN, Jessica Davis of Crossville, TN, and Isabella Greenwood of Crossville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Friday from 11 A.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to assist with funeral expenses by contacting the funeral home.

Celebration of Life Services for Ms. Alfrieda Smith, age 75, of Monroe will be conducted 6 p.m., Friday, August 6, 2021 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Ms. Smith passed from this life on Thursday evening, July 29, 2021 from the Overton County Health & Rehab. She was born in Monroe, Tennessee on July 5, 1946 to the late Floyd Allard and Novie Gray Smith. Ms. Alfrieda leaves behind her brother, Ronald D. “R.D.” Smith of Rickman, TN and several nieces and nephews. The family will welcome friends from 5 p.m. until time of services at Speck Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Kerlee Adcock, age 88 of Walling, will be conducted 1:00pm Saturday, August 7 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Spring Hill Cemetery. Mr. Adcock passed away on Tuesday, August 3 at his residence. He retired from Mallory and was an avid farmer and fisherman. Simply put, Kerlee was a good man who enjoyed working, farming, fishing and family. When he could not work out on the farm, he enjoyed watching the hummingbirds from his living room. He proudly served his country in the United States Army while stationed in Germany. Surviving family members include his wife, Jean Adcock; daughter, Selina (Tim) Ross, and step-children, Sandra (J.D.) Hanna, Faye (John ) Mitchell, Cheryl (Ken) Hatfield, Evonne (Jeff) Higgins, and Steve Marsh. The family will receive friends after 11:00am Saturday at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Frances “FRANKIE” Mae Owen, 83 of Baxter, will be Saturday, August 7 at 2 PM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma Community. Bro. Herb Leftwich will officiate. Mrs. Owen died Tuesday August 3, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Frankie worked as a server at Cracker Barrel for 13 years before retiring. She enjoyed baking for others, gardening, crafting and taking care of grandchildren/great-grandchildren. Survivors include her children, SuSu Franklin, Lisa (Jody) Swindle, and Patrick Liggett. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 8 PM and after 10 AM Saturday until service time at the funeral home.

Celebration Of Life Services For Loretta Pennington, Age 79 Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted On Sunday, August 8 At 2:00 PM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. J.L. “Chip” Pennington Will Officiate. Mrs. Pennington Passed Away On Thursday, July 29 At Her Home. Mrs. Pennington Was A Loving And Devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, And Great Grandmother. She Was A Teacher, Interpreter For The Deaf, Artist, Crafter, Counselor, Missionary, And A College Professor. She Is Survived By Her Husband, Rev. J.L. “Chip” Pennington; Daughters, Kelly Jo Pennington Rose And Mark Rose, Amy Beth Pennington Springs And Elbert Springs; and Sons, Jeffrey Lyle Pennington And Cynthia Dewitte, Caleb Pennington, and Exequel Pennington. Her Wishes Of Cremation Are Being Honored. In Lieu Of Flowers, The Family Request Please Feed A Stranger. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Sunday, August 8 From 12:00 PM Until Time Of Services At 2:00 PM.

Memorial Services for Zada “Marie” Eller, 91 of Sparta, will be held on Sunday, August 8 at Plainview Church of Christ Hwy 84, in Sparta at 2:30 PM with Bro. Earl Alverson and Dan Gulley officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, at the church, from 1:30 PM till the time of service. Mrs. Eller passed away on Saturday, July 31 at her home surrounded by family. She was a member of Plainview Church of Christ. She was the owner of All Occasions Cake shop. She loved her children, and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family and playing board games. Survivors include her Husband of 23 Years, Herman Earl Eller; and children, Terry (Pam) Parks, Sharon (David) Trisdale, Cheryl (Carl) Hitchcock, Vickie Randolph, and Earlene (Jerry) Steakley. The family will receive friends on Sunday, at the church, from 1:30 PM till the time of service.

Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Carol Sue Copeland, age 78 of Cookeville, will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, August 14 from the Livingston First Christian Church. Bro. Scott Copeland will officiate. Mrs. Carol Sue Copeland passed from this life on Wednesday, January 19, 2021 from the Cookeville Regional Medical Center from complications of COVID pneumonia. She grew up in Livingston, Tennessee and excelled academically, was well liked and had many friends. She was a cheerleader for Livingston Academy High School. Sue and Steve married at age 19 and Sue worked to support Steve through college at Tennessee Tech University and the Veterinary School at Auburn University, all while raising their young sons. When Steve completed his education at Auburn, the family returned to the Upper Cumberland, settled in Cookeville and established Copeland Veterinary Hospital. Sue was instrumental in the success of the practice and essentially did everything including managing the front desk, keeping the books, and assisting in the treatment areas as well as the kennel. Steve has always said that he gives credit to Sue for the success of Copeland Veterinary Hospital. She is Survived by her husband, Dr. Steve Copeland D.V.M; and, sons Dr. Scott (Mona) Copeland M.D., and Steven R. Copeland all of Cookeville. The family will welcome friends at the time of services.
