Obituaries For Tuesday, May 5

Mr. Rodger Dale Howser, of Cookeville, passed away on his 66th birthday, Monday, May 4, 2020 at his residence. Rodger was born May 4, 1954 in Pikeville, Tennessee to the late Frank and Edith McDaniels Howser. He was a member of the Algood Church of God where he played bass guitar with the Praise Team. Rodger was an electrician with Cherry Creek Electric and avid University of Tennessee fan. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother Jerry Howser; sister LaVada Campbell and grandson Matthew Maynard. In consideration of the health and safety of family and friends, a private family funeral will be conducted at Hunter Funeral Home with burial to follow in Friendship Cemetery. A public celebration will be planned once the social restrictions have been lifted. Pastor Steve Moore will officiate.

John Wesley Pratt, age 72, of Cookeville, met his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning May 3, 2020. John was born June 17, 1947 in Wilmington, DE to the late Olin and Martha Fultz Pratt. He spent his formative years in Nashville, TN. John moved to Tampa, FL were met his future wife Linda Stallings. They married February 1, 1974 and were happily married for over 46 years. John and Linda have two children, Ryan Pratt and Erica Pratt and twin grandsons, Joey and John all of Cookeville. He is also survived by a sister, Vivian (Steve) Wallace of Lakeland FL. John was a journeyman electrician working in commercial buildings and surgical service with AMSCO/Steris in Tampa. After moving to Cookeville, he continued as an electrician with Powerhouse prior to retirement. John was an active member of Stevens Street Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and was involved as a youth teacher, food delivery, and other ministries. He was a well-rounded Christian man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed older cars and trucks, and he could fix anything. He was an especially kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Stevens Street Baptist Church, 327 W. Stevens Street, Cookeville, TN 38501.

He Passed Away On Sunday, May 3, 2020, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Dr. Jerry Huffman Will Officiate. Mr. Goodeon Was Born On January 23, 1942, In Chicago, Illinois, To The Late Alexander And Norma Plan Goodeon. Mr. Goodeon Passed Away On Sunday, May 3, 2020, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Goodeon Was A Law Officer For Many Years Serving As Former Chief Of Police Of Monterey In The Early 1980’s. He Worked At Avco In Nashville And Was A Boat Mechanic With The Sportsman Center In Livingston. He Was A Member Of Monterey First Baptist Church. He Is Survived By, 4 Daughters, Jackie “Jay” (Johnny) Hawkins Of Livingston, TN, Tammi (Greg) Young Of Baxter, TN, Natalie (Brian) Carlile Of Cookeville, TN, Brandy (Jamie) Romines Of Cookeville, TN; 1 Son, Scott (Nancy) Goodeon Of Cookeville, TN; 1 Stepdaughter, Kristy (Lee) Wilson Of Clarkrange, TN; 13 Grandchildren; 18 Great Grandchildren; And 1 Sister, Diana Walsh Of Chicago, IL. In Addition To His Parents, He Was Preceded In Death By His Wife, Wanda Goodeon; 2 Grandchildren, Cody And Angel; And 1 Sister, Phyllis Carlson.

Mrs. Harris Was Born On November 7, 1929, In Overton County, To The Late Price And Maude Moore Hargis. Mrs. Harris Passed Away On Sunday, May 3, 2020, At Standing Stone Care And Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Harris Had Worked With Fleetguard And Ely And Walker. She Was A Member Of Monterey Church Of Christ. David Michael “Dave” Iwanyszyn, Age 64, Of The Muddy Pond Community, Passed Away On Saturday, May 2, 2020, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Iwanyszyn Was Born On October 1, 1955, In Reading, Pennsylvania, To The Late Wasyl And Gloria Kocan Iwanyszyn. Mr. Iwanyszyn Was Owner/Operator Of Dave’s Painting. He Was A Christian. He Was A Proud Grandfather Affectionally Known As Jaju. He Is Survived By His Wife, Jane Fronheiser Iwanyszyn Of The Muddy Pond Community; Stepdaughters, Jamie Papi Of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Katie Papi Of Seattle, WA; Stepson, Christopher (And Fiancée, Allie) Papi Of San Francisco, CA; Grandson, Jacob Papi; 5 Brothers, John And Pam Iwanyszyn Of Mohrsville, PA, Steve And JoAnn Iwanyszyn Of Mohrsville, PA, Bob Iwanyszyn Of Monterey, TN, Joe And Joan Iwanyszyn Of Cookeville, TN, Tim And Sarah Iwanyszyn Of Cookeville, TN; And Brother-In-Law, David Fronheiser Of Ft. Barbara Bernice Scudder, 80, of Sparta, passed away Saturday, Mary 2, 2020 in Nashville. She was born on August 23, 1939 to the late Herald George Barney Sr. and Christina McLaggen Barney in Detroit, Michigan. No services are scheduled at this time.

Mrs. Judy Diane Ward Throckmorton, age 62 a native of Doyle, currently of Smithville, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020 at her residence. Judy was born February 7, 1958 in Doyle, Tennessee to the late Wilmer Lee & Gladys Marie Young Ward. She was a homemaker and longtime member of Doyle Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death brothers Gary, Jerry and Kenneth Ward. Survivors include her husband of 40 years Ricky Throckmorton; Three sons: Patrick (Kammie) Throckmorton, Kelly Dean (Amanda) Throckmorton, Ricky Lynn Dale Throckmorton. In consideration of the health and safety of family and friends, a private family service will be conducted from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Anderson Cemetery.

Miss Raelynn Faith Hill, infant daughter of Ricky Hill & Brandy Ann Lowe passed from this life on May 1, 2020, from the Livingston Regional Medical Center. Raelynn Faith leaves behind her loving parents; brother, Mx Troxel; grandmothers, Kimberly Millsaps of Sparta, TN, and Sheila Hill of Ohio, IL; grandfather, Brian Lowe, of McMinnville, TN; great-grandfather, Daniel Ed Lowe of McMinnville, TN; several aunts, uncles, and Cousins.

Graveside services with military honors for Robert Ralph Jared, age 87, of Buffalo Valley, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday May 6 at Jared Family Cemetery in Buffalo Valley. Rev. Bill Cowan will officiate. He passed away Sunday May 3, 2020 at St Thomas West in Nashville. Ralph was born March 8, 1933 in Buffalo Valley to the late Joyce Sidney Jared and Frances Elizabeth Maddux Jared. He was a graduate of Baxter Seminary and attended Tennessee Tech University. He served as a paratrooper in the US Army. He was a trooper with TN Highway Patrol before going to work at Cookeville Production Credit. Ralph was a member of the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church in the Gentry Community since age 12. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann Sullivan Jared, whom he married June 23, 1955 in McClurkan Memorial Nazarene Church in Nashville, TN; daughter, Teresa Jared; son, Bennett Jared and wife Kristi; four granddaughters, Lauren, Rachel, Hannah and Catalina; one sister, Mrs. Joyce Cooey, two nieces, and one nephew. In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, it is requested that friends and family “Do an anonymous good deed.”

Graveside Funeral Services For Clara Long Broughton, Age 90, Of Monterey, Tennessee, Will Be Conducted On Wednesday, May 6, 2020, At 1:00 PM (EST) At The Chattanooga National Cemetery In Chattanooga, Tennessee. Mrs. Broughton Was Born On March 22, 1930, In Detroit, Michigan, To The Late Almon And Ruth Hazel Jones Long Who Were Originally From Mebane, North Carolina. She Moved To West Palm Beach, Florida, In 1949, And Raised Her Family And Made Lasting Friendships. In 1966, She Went To Palm Beach Junior College And Acquired Her Nursing Degree And Then Worked At Good Samaritan Hospital. She And Harold Retired And Moved To Monterey, Tennessee, Where She Was Active In Eastern Star And Their Church, Monterey United Methodist Church. She Was Very Artistic, Loved Quilting And Painting, And Her Baking Skills Were Incomparable. She Lead A Full Life With Her Adoring Husband And Family, And Past And Present Friends. Mrs. Broughton Passed Away After Succumbing To Alzheimer’s, On Thursday, April 30, 2020, At The Standing Stone Care And Rehabilitation Center. She Is Survived By Her Loving Husband And Best Friend Of 71 Years, Harold Broughton Of Monterey, TN; 3 Loving Daughters, Susan (John) Sudelis Of Tequesta, FL, Ruthann (Andy) Gore Of Spring Hill, TN, Peggy (Mike) Cronin Of West Palm Beach, FL; 8 Grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Johnathan, Travis, Brian, Ryan, Samantha And Caitlin; 8 Great Grandchildren.

Graveside Services for Mr. Jeffrey L. Maran, age 68, of Cleveland Ohio, will be conducted 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2020 from the Dugan Smith Cemetery. The family will welcome friends at the graveside. Mr. Jeffrey Maran was the beloved husband of Yvette Lee Florek Maran; father of Stacy Maran, Gabriel Smolik, Clinton Smolik, Chrystal Lee and Jessie Maran; grandfather of Hannah, Riley and Layne; son of Mattie Lee Little and the late Jack Fry; brother of Margarete Maran Zitello and Rose Oliver; uncle, cousin and friend of many. Jeff was the retired owner of Auto Tow, Inc. in Cleveland, OH.
