Obituaries For Tuesday, January 12

Danny Dale Fields, 65 of Cookeville, passed away on Monday, January 11 at Saint Thomas Mid-Town Hospital in Nashville. Danny was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and soon to be grandfather. Danny is survived by, Wife, Lisa Fields; Son, William Raymond Fields; Step-Daughter, Tiffany Brooke Billett; and Step-Son, James Matthew Smith. Danny chose cremation, the family followed his wishes, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Lewis “Glenn” Roberts, 67 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at his home. Glenn was born Sunday, July 12, 1953 in Cookeville, Tennessee, and he was the son of the late Willard Louis Roberts and the late Estelene S. (Mayberry) Roberts. Glenn was a loving son, brother, Dad, and Pa. He co-owned with his brother Ted a construction business for many years. Glenn was loved by all that knew him and he will be greatly missed. Glenn is survived by, 2 Children, Kristi Pigg and Brian Roberts. Glenn chose cremation, the family followed his wishes, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Funeral services for Mr. Ivan “ Kerry” Hamilton, age 69 of Cookeville, will be held on Wednesday, January 13 at 11 AM from the Praise Cathedral Church of God at 1691 Burgess Falls Road in Cookeville with burial to follow in the Arlington of Tennessee. Mr. Hamilton was a builder/contractor by trade for 15 years, followed by employment at Highlands Resident Services for over 25 years. He was a beloved member of Praise Cathedral Church. He is survived by his Wife, Patty L. Hamilton. Family will receive friends at the church starting at 10 AM on Wednesday, 13th until service time.

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Edward “Charlie” Williams, age 47 of Sparta, will be conducted 11:00am Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Ravenscroft Church of God with burial in the Williams Family Cemetery. Kenneth Peters will officiate. He passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at his residence. Charlie was born June 19, 1973 in Crossville, Tennessee to Jane Hall Williams and the late Donnie Williams. Charlie was a mechanic and automobile detail specialist. Survivors include his three sons: Christopher (Shawna) Williams, Michael Williams, Dillon (Hailey) Williams. The family will receive friends after 4:00pm Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hunter Funeral Home, PO Box 90, Sparta, TN 38583 to help the family with funeral expenses.

Funeral services for Sonja Lee Dickson, 57 of Cookeville will be Wednesday, January 13 at 11 AM from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Bro. Jerry Harris, Bro. John D. Davis, Bro. Bennie Ray Fields and Justin Qualls will officiate. Mrs. Dickson died Sunday, January 10 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a 1982 graduate of Upperman High School in Baxter. She attended Cedar Hill Baptist Church and Cookeville First Baptist Church. Sonja enjoyed working at Express Footware waiting on and helping her customers. She also enjoyed camping, walking, swimming and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. Survivors in addition to her mother, include husband Danny Dickson of Cookeville, son Coty Lynn (Lauren) Gardner of Baxter, two step-children, William Dickson of Cookeville, and Amanda Dickson of Rickman. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9 AM until service time.

Funeral services for Nellie Marie Hix, 94, of the McCoinsville community of Jackson County, TN, will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at 1 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community of Jackson County. She passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Signature Health Care Center in Algood. She was born May 16, 1926, in Jackson County, TN, to the late William Riley Heady and Martha Jane Trisdale Heady. She was married to the late Reeves Jr. Hix, who passed away July 30, 1996. She was a supervisor at the Washington Industries shirt factory, and a member of the Dudneys Hill Church of Christ. Survivors include 2 Daughters: Linda Jane (Tony) Maberry of Gainesboro, TN, and Jackie Marie (Dennis) Hix Smith of Cookeville. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 P.M. – 8 P.M., and on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pharris Cemetery by contacting the funeral home.

Funeral services for Ralph Hill Medley, 92 of Baxter, will be Wednesday 1 PM, January 13 from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cooke Cemetery. Bro. Buddy Johnson, Bro. Andrew Brewster and Harold Ralph Maynard will officiate. Mr. Medley died Monday morning, January 11, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born in Baxter to the late Sidney Monroe and Berta “Bertie” Maxwell Medley. He was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ for 45 years. He was a commercial painter and decorator for many years. He also enjoyed rabbit hunting, gardening, fishing, walking horses and keeping a neat lawn. Ralph loved spending time with family and friends, especially the grand, great and great-great-grandkids. He loved taking vegetables from his garden to the widow neighbors in the community. Ralph and Vallie opened their home to a foster son and other family members in need. Ralph was a motorcycle enthusiast, riding until he was 80. He was a funeral assistant in Putnam County for over 50 years, beginning his funeral service career in 1963. He along with Ed Hooper opened the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston in 1977. Survivors include wife Betty Maddux Jared Medley of Baxter, daughters Rita (Richard) Lafever of Baxter, Cindy Dyal and husband Jack of Baxter, Linda and Rodger LaFever of Baxter. The family will receive friends Wednesday after 11 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Dee (Thomas) Hall, 77, of Cookeville, will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Northeast Church of Christ, with Bro. David Hill officiating. Private family entombment will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Hall passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her three daughters. She was born on July 27, 1943, in Baxter, TN. She was married 51 years to her late husband, Billy Clay Hall, whom she married on June 24, 1967, in Michigan. Mrs. Hall was an incredible and wonderful example of a Christian, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Mother-in-Law. She was a homemaker, and retired from Russell Stover Candies. She was a faithful member of Northeast Church of Christ. She is survived by her three daughters; Debra Hall Maxwell, DeAnne (Dan) Evans, and Leanna (Richard) Mason, all of Cookeville. The family kindly requests that visitors wear a mask. Visitation with the family will be held at the church building from 12:00 pm until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Tennessee Bible College, 1616 McCulley Rd. Cookeville, TN 38506.

Family graveside services and interment for Joyce Marie West, age 89 of Baxter, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday January 14 at Smellage Memory Gardens. Bro. Archie Whitefield will officiate. Mrs. West passed away Monday January 11, 2021 at her home. She was retired from Tennessee Tech University having worked in the DW Matson Computer Center. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, James West; son, Jimmy (Rhonda) West; daughters, Christy Palmer, and Mary West Myatt, all of Baxter.

Funeral services for Martha Janice “Jan” Burton, 78 of Silver Point, will be Thursday, January 14 at 1 PM at Silver Point Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the G.V. Herren Family Cemetery. Bro. Luke Wilken will officiate. Mrs. Burton died Monday, January 11, 2021 at her home. She was born March 15, 1942 in Silver Point to the late Howard and Lennie Carr Herren. She was a graduate of Upperman High School. She was a retired quality control inspector with Porelon of Cookeville. She enjoyed playing volley ball and softball. Jan was a member of Silver Point Church of Christ. Survivors include son Tim (Angela) Burton of Silver Point, sister Judy Harris of Silver Point. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday after 11 AM.

Funeral services for Phillip Godsey, age 75 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, January 14 beginning at 1:00 pm at Double Springs Community Church with Bro. Frank Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow in Double Springs Cemetery. Mr. Godsey passed from this life Monday, January 11 at his home in Cookeville. Phillip loved his family especially his wife, children and grandchildren. Phillip was an epic story teller and had many friends who played big parts in his stories. He was retired from Fleetguard where he worked for 35 years in the maintenance department. Phillip loved to tinker and could fix anything, he especially loved working on clocks. He also had a great love for camping and his cabin on Calfkiller River. He was a Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Marsha Gail Godsey of Cookeville; daughter, Lori Greatorex of Cookeville; and three sons, Jeffery Lynn Godsey of Madison, WI, Jeremy Wayne (LaNelle) Godsey of Cookeville, TN, and Aubrey Nathan Watson of Savannah, GA. The family will receive friends at Double Springs Community Church Thursday, January 14, from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm.

Graveside Service for Doris Eileen Etheredge, age 83 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 2:00 pm from the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Interment will follow the service. She passed from this life on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Cumberland Medical Center. Doris was born Saturday, April 3, 1937, in Oneida, Tennessee, and she was the daughter of the late Robert William Burchfield and Hila Marie (Owens) Burchfield. Doris was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She loved to travel and her family. She attended Eastwood Baptist Church for many years. Doris was loved by all that knew her and she will be greatly missed. Doris is survived by, 2 Children, Karen and Rodney Brown, and Timothy and Lynn Cook.

Graveside services and interment with for Mr. John Robert Henley, age 35, of Sparta, will be held Thursday, January 14 at 2:00 PM at Boiling Springs Cemetery. Austin Houston will officiate. Mr. Henley passed away Friday, January 8th. He was born May 4, 1985 in Cookeville to Cherie Henley and the late Barry Robert Carr. He was a 2003 graduate of Cookeville High School and attended Middle TN State University. John proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a Operation Iraqi Freedom war veteran. He had a big heart and was always willing to help others. In addition to his mother, he is survived by wife, Christina Miller Henley; sons, Jacob Miller, Noah Henley and Abel Henley.

Funeral services for Carole McBroom, 76, of Gainesboro, will be held on Thursday, January 14 at 2 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. Mrs. McBroom passed away on Monday, January 11 at Cookeville Regional Medial Center. She was born March 6, 1944, in Jackson County to the late Thomas Elmer Long and Ova Myrtle Hicks Long. On September 4, 1969, she was married to Charles McBroom, who survives. She was a retired Pre-K teachers’ assistant, and a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ. Survivors include her Husband, Charles McBroom of Gainesboro; 2 Daughters, Teresa Johnson (Tim) Dillehay of Cookeville, and Kristi McBroom (Jamie) Ellis of Gainesboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Fund or the Jumping Jacks Pre-K program by contacting the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3 P.M. – 8 P.M., and on Thursday from 11 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral Services for Elvis Presley, age 42 of Sparta, will be Thursday January 14, 2021 at 6:00 P.M. at Old Bethel Baptist Church in Sparta, TN. 498 Bethel Hollow Rd, Quebeck. He passed away on January 7, 2021 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was born on December 19,1978 in Sparta, TN to James Presley and Betty Duncan. He is survived by his wife of 11 years Bobbi Sue Presley. Visitation will be held Thursday January 14, 2021 at 5:00 P.M. till 6:00 P.M. at Old Bethel Baptist Church in Sparta.

A memorial service for Mrs. Connie Rockwell, age 67 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, January 15 at 6:00 pm in the Wilhite Baptist Church in Cookeville. Bro. Tim Miles will officiate. Mrs. Rockwell died Saturday January 2 at her residence. Her family will receive friends Friday, January 15 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Gill, age 83 of Monterey, will be Saturday, January 16 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of Horner Funeral Home. Barbara died Monday morning, January 11, 2021 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
