Obituaries For Tuesday, April 6

Shirley Ann Zinker, 82 of Sparta passed away on Tuesday, April 6 at her home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Patricia Roberts, 70 of Cookeville died Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Her wishes of cremation are being honored and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. She was born March 17, 1951 in Marion, Ohio to the late Delmer and Wanda Jean Hodge Hempy. Patricia enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, collecting and selling jewelry, gardening, listening to Fleetwood Mac songs and taking care of her pets and all animals. She was a retired sales clerk. She moved to Cookeville in 1997. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Amber and David Roberts of Cookeville, son and daughter-in-law Sean and Hollie Keller of Whitleyville.

Funeral services for Mr. Paul Wilmoth, age 77 of Sparta, will be held Wednesday, April 7th at 12:00 p.m. at Northeast Church of Christ in Cookeville. Bro. David Hill, Bro. Kerry Duke and Bro. Glenn Ramsey will officiate. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemtery. Mr. Wilmoth died Monday April 5 at his residence. His family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Funeral services for Dorothy Maudine Tudor, 93 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, April 7 beginning at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Tudor passed away on Saturday, April 3. She was born Wednesday, March 7, 1928 in Crawford, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Casto Key and the late Amie (Padgett) Key. Dorothy loved her family and she also loved to sing in church. One of her favorite things to do was to ride around and see the spring time flowers and trees. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Edward) Mesler. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, April 6 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and again Wednesday April 7, from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 2:00 pm.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bernie Edward Winningham, age 82 of Livingston, Will be conducted 2pm Wednesday, April 7 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Jonathan Ledbetter will officiate. Burial to follow in the Fiske Cemetery. Mr. Winningham passed from this life on Sunday morning, April 4 from his residence. He was born in Overton County on September 18, 1938, to the late Bernie F. and Ellen Ogletree Winningham. Bernie was a member of the Livingston Church of Christ, and served in the National Guard. Bernie loved his family, especially his granddaughters, Kailey and Alexus. He never saw a stranger and loved getting out and meeting and talking with people. Bernie leaves behind his loving wife, Shelia Ledbetter Winningham of Livingston; sons, Mike Winningham of Cookeville, and Scott (JerriAnn) Winningham of Hilham. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.

Graveside services and interment for Virginia Sue Brown Stewart, 83 of Knoxville and formerly of Monterey, will be held Wednesday April 7th at 3:00 p.m. at Whittaker Cemetery in Monterey with Rev. Kent Williams officiating. Miss Stewart died Sunday March 14 at Westmoreland Health & Rehab in Knoxville. After graduating from Monterey High School, she attended Belmont College and Tennessee Tech. She worked at Tennessee Tech as a Department Secretary and retired after 30 years as a legal secretary in Knoxville. Ms. Stewart was a faithful member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church in Knoxville. Ms. Stewart is survived by daughter, Loni Sue “Cissy” Stewart Walker and husband, Tom of Knoxville, sons, Stephen Verble Stewart and wife Frances of Seabeck, Washington, and Marc Lane Stewart of Denver, Colorado.

Graveside services for Earl Gene Smith, 80, of Cookeville, TN, will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 11 A.M. at the Old Antioch Cemetery in Jackson County. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021, in Cookeville, TN. He was born August 28, 1940, in Overton County, TN, to the late Dawson M. Smith and Josie L. Phillips Smith. He worked as a mechanic. Survivors include 1 Son: Joseph Smith of Cookeville. Bro. Mike Fox will officiate at the services. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home.

Memorial services for Deborah Ann Scott, 64 of the Whites Bend community of Jackson County, will be held on Saturday, April 10 at 1 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Miss Scott passed away on Monday, March 22 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born May 15, 1956, in Jackson County. She was a factory worker at Crotty, and a member of the Assembly of God. Survivors include her daughter, Amy (Erik) Pryor Baxter of Mt. Juliet. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 10 from 11 A.M. until time of services.

Memorial services for Robert Douglas Young, 82, of the Stone community of Jackson County, TN, will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 2 P.M. at the New Hope Baptist Church. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro, TN. He was born April 16, 1938, in Plymouth, MI, to the late Donly S. Young and Mabel Garnet Kincaid Young. On April 16, 1960, he was married to Dorothy Anne Young, who survives. He was a journalist, and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include his Wife: Dorothy Anne Young of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Sons: Scott Sheridan Young of Dunlap, TN, and Robert Douglas Young of Spring Lake, MI; and 2 Daughters: Dawn Renee Agee of Cookeville, TN, and Kimberly Anne Croisant of Whitleyville, TN. Bro. Randy Heady will officiate at the services. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, April 10, 2021, from 12 Noon until time of services. Memorial donations may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Well Ministries by contacting the funeral home.

A celebration of life for James Michael “Bobo” Borden, age 64 Of Cookeville, scheduled for Sunday, April 18th at Hidden Valley Golf & Country Club from 2pm-4pm. Mr. Morgan passed away on March 24th at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Michael was the General Manager of Hidden Valley Golf and Country Club for many years. He was also known as “Mr. White Plains” for the years he spent there. He was happiest on a beach, a golf course or watching the Florida Gators. He once asked the doctors if they were having trouble finding blood that was orange and blue. He was known for his sense of humor, funny one-liners and the stories he liked to tell over and over again. He was a big-hearted guy who touched many people’s lives with his kindness and generosity. He loved his family and his dogs and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Cristy; Stepson, Josh McDaniel; and his daughters, Kelli (Charles) Norris and Amanda Borden.
