Mr. Junior McCowan, Age 84 Of Monterey, Passed Away On Thursday, April 8 At His Home. Funeral Arrangements Are Incomplete.

Shirley Ann Zinker, 82 of Sparta passed away on Tuesday, April 6 at her home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Dr. John Kelly Wright, 86, who recently returned to Cookeville, died unexpectedly at home Tuesday, April 6. He graduated Livingston Academy in 1953 and matriculated to Tennessee Technological University with focused plans to head to medical school. During his tenure at Tennessee Tech, John would be paired with a young woman named Catherine Terry for a dissection in a course on anatomy; later they made their partnership more official and were married in 1954. He graduated University of Tennessee College of Medicine becoming Dr. John K. Wright in 1959, then received training in surgery at Baptist Hospital in Nashville and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. John is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine Terry Wright. Due to the pandemic, no services have been scheduled at this time.

Graveside services for Robert Barnes, 59, Cookeville, will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Cookeville City Cemetery located on 241 South Walnut Avenue, with Bro., Jamie Seales officiating. Interment will follow. He passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at his residence. Robert was born on Thursday, August 17, 1961, in Pine Knot, KY, to the late Shirley James Barnes. Three Survivors include wife Judy Barnes, Cookeville. In lieu of flowers and plants, please consider making a memorial donation for expenses to Presley Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19, masks are required to be worn and practice social distancing during visitation and services.

Graveside services for Jack Zaczek, age 65 of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday April 9th at Phillips Cemetery in Algood. Jack passed away Thursday March 25th at his home.

Funeral services for Ms. Juliet Kim Garrett, age 65 of Livingston, will be conducted 2 PM Friday, April 9th, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Bro. John Keith Bro. Chris Coil and Ivan Coil will officiate. Burial will be in Garrett Cemetery. Juliet Kim Garrett was born on February 13, 1956, in Akron, Ohio, to Edwin and Peggy (Robbins) Garrett. The family moved back to Overton County when Kim was five years old, where she lived the remainder of her life. Kim is survived by her beloved father, Edwin Garrett, her brother Marty Garrett and wife Lounetta, and sister Lisa Coil and husband Chris all of Allons. Kim was a member of Allons Baptist Church. She also attended Trinity Assembly in Algood for many years. She loved being a part of the “Singles” class at Trinity. Kim was a 1974 graduate of Livingston Academy. She has maintained life-long friendships with many of her classmates, and loved sharing in their joys and accomplishments. Kim attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, and Tennessee Tech University. Kim worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart in Cookeville for many years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 (diabetes.org) or Happy Haven Children’s Home, 2311 Wakefield Drive, Cookeville, TN 38501.

Funeral Services for Tammy Hinson Crockett, age 42 of Cookeville, will be at 2 pm on Friday at McCoinsville Church of Christ with Bro. Jimmy Anderson, Bro. Duane Gossett and Bro. Matthew Scoggins officiating. Burial will follow in John L. Clark Memorial. She was born July 22, 1978 in Cookeville, TN and she passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at her residence in Gainesboro at the age of 42. Tammy was the daughter of Douglas Calvin and Margie Ruth Morgan Hinson. She was a homemaker and a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ. On Sept. 19, 1998 she married Jamie Crockett who survives. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 8, 2021 noon to 8 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home and again on Friday, April 9, 2021, 10 am to 2 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Jackson Smith County Youth Camp or Happy Haven Home for children’s by contacting the funeral home.

Funeral Services For Jack Buckner, Age 69 Of Graysville, And Formerly Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted On Friday, April 9 At 3:30 PM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Floyd Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Welch Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Buckner Passed Away On Tuesday, April 6 At His Home. Mr. Buckner Was A Security Officer. He Was Christian In Faith. He Is Survived By His Companion, Tina Loretta Ladd Of Graysville; one Son, Benjy Buckner Of Monterey; and two Daughters, Amanda Coleen Buckner Of Pikeville, and Jana Nicole Buckner Of Pikeville. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Friday, April 9 From 1:30 PM Until Time Of Services At 3:30 PM.

A Celebration of Life service for Tony Lynn Allen, age 59 of Cookeville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday April 10th at Life Church, The Edge Facility, 2223 North Washington Avenue, Cookeville. Pastor Alex Lisic will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date. Mr. Allen passed away Sunday March 21 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He fought a long hard 6-month battle of Stage 1V Cancer. His daily words, until his last, were “God’s Got This”. Tony’s sister, Frances (Joann) Allen says, “God’s plan is always our best plan regardless of our circumstances. God chose to let Tony enter those pearly gates to a place called Heaven. More than ever, I want to make sure I’m ready to meet Jesus. Now, there’s a certain Angel I’m anxious to see after I meet Jesus. His name is Tony! I pray everyone will be right there with me to enter in those beautiful gates to a place called Heaven!!!” The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

Graveside services for Earl Gene Smith, 80, of Cookeville, TN, will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 11 A.M. at the Old Antioch Cemetery in Jackson County. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021, in Cookeville, TN. He was born August 28, 1940, in Overton County, TN, to the late Dawson M. Smith and Josie L. Phillips Smith. He worked as a mechanic. Survivors include 1 Son: Joseph Smith of Cookeville. Bro. Mike Fox will officiate at the services. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Shirley “Sharon” Lee Hawkins, age 65 of Hilham, will be Saturday at 12 noon with burial to follow in Maxwell’s Chapel Cemetery in Hilham. Hawkins was born April 11, 1955 in Jackson County, TN and she passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at her residence in Hilham at the age 65. She was the daughter of Charlie “Greasy” Lee and Mildred Carwile Lee. She worked at Nielsen Manufacturing for 32 years before her retirement. Survivors include her son, Shawn Hawkins of Lilburn, GA; brother, Edwin (Brenda) Lee of Hilham. Visitation will be on Friday from 3 to 8 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home and again on Saturday, April 10, 10 am to 12 noon.

Memorial services for Deborah Ann Scott, 64 of the Whites Bend community of Jackson County, will be held on Saturday, April 10 at 1 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Miss Scott passed away on Monday, March 22 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born May 15, 1956, in Jackson County. She was a factory worker at Crotty, and a member of the Assembly of God. Survivors include her daughter, Amy (Erik) Pryor Baxter of Mt. Juliet. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 10 from 11 A.M. until time of services.

Memorial services for Robert Douglas Young, 82, of the Stone community of Jackson County, TN, will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 2 P.M. at the New Hope Baptist Church. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro, TN. He was born April 16, 1938, in Plymouth, MI, to the late Donly S. Young and Mabel Garnet Kincaid Young. On April 16, 1960, he was married to Dorothy Anne Young, who survives. He was a journalist, and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include his Wife: Dorothy Anne Young of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Sons: Scott Sheridan Young of Dunlap, TN, and Robert Douglas Young of Spring Lake, MI; and 2 Daughters: Dawn Renee Agee of Cookeville, TN, and Kimberly Anne Croisant of Whitleyville, TN. Bro. Randy Heady will officiate at the services. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, April 10, 2021, from 12 Noon until time of services. Funeral services for Mrs. Willene McHenry Keith, age 96 formally of Baxter will be held Saturday, April 17 at 1:00 PM at Baxter Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Curry’s Chapel Cemetery in Jackson County. Mrs. Keith passed away Wednesday, April 7 in Mechanicsburg, PA. She was the wife of the late Isam Keith. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 17 from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

A celebration of life for James Michael “Bobo” Borden, age 64 Of Cookeville, scheduled for Sunday, April 18th at Hidden Valley Golf & Country Club from 2pm-4pm. Mr. Morgan passed away on March 24th at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Michael was the General Manager of Hidden Valley Golf and Country Club for many years. He was also known as “Mr. White Plains” for the years he spent there. He was happiest on a beach, a golf course or watching the Florida Gators. He once asked the doctors if they were having trouble finding blood that was orange and blue. He was known for his sense of humor, funny one-liners and the stories he liked to tell over and over again. He was a big-hearted guy who touched many people’s lives with his kindness and generosity. He loved his family and his dogs and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Cristy; Stepson, Josh McDaniel; and his daughters, Kelli (Charles) Norris and Amanda Borden.
