Obituaries For Wednesday, June 21

Robert “Bob” Shoemaker, age 73, of Monterey, and formerly of Orlando, Florida, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Shoemaker was born on November 6, 1949, in New Troy, Michigan, to the late Howard Dale and Bonita Irene Casselman Shoemaker. Mr. Shoemaker was a master mechanic. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant in Special Forces. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and was awarded several honorable medals including a Purple Heart. He was a member of Mineral Springs Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by 1 son, Michael Todd Shoemaker; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly Shoemaker, Susan and Roger Broomfield; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Toni Shoemaker, Larry and Karen Shoemaker, Jim and Anita Shoemaker; mother of his children, Sheryl Shoemaker Owens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Jones; and sister, Susan Shoemaker. His wishes of cremation are being honored with Celebration of Life Services to be announced at a later date.

Graveside services for Mr. Charles Douglas Howell, age 64 of Sparta, will be conducted 11:00am Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Clouse Cemetery. He passed away at 4:55pm Sunday, June 18, 2023 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. Charles was born May 5, 1959 in Sparta to Joyce Clouse Howell and the late William Vernice Howell. He served 12 years in the United States Navy. Following his Naval career he had a variety of jobs until he founded his passion, Furever Pet Transport. He transported domestic animals, mostly dogs to destinations all over the country for owners that did not want to fly their four legged companions. Charles was a member of Findlay Church of Christ. In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by his wife Margaret Patterson Holland Glover Howell who died April 9, 2021. Surviving family members include his mother: Joyce Howell; Sister: Vickie Wilmoth and husband James; Brother: Bruce Howell; Step-daughter: Debra Jean Glover; Nieces: Misty Fortner and Natasha King; Nephews: William Wilmoth, Ethan Wilmoth and Michael Howell; Twelve great-nieces and nephews also survive. There will be no public visitation prior to the service.

Funeral services for Mr. Nathan K. Strong, age 36 of Baxter, will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 11 AM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Eckles Cemetery in Overton Co. He passed from this life on Friday, June 16, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Nathan K. Strong was born in Cookeville on Thursday, October 23, 1986 to James Ronald Strong and Jacqueline (Booher) Strong. Nathan worked in the zinc mines, mining zinc in Carthage; Nathan loved his family and his work family very much a specially his fur babies. Nathan will be greatly missed. Survivors: His loving wife: Shawna Strong; 1 Daughter: KarLee Ann Strong; Mother: Jacqueline Strong; Father and Step Mother: James Ronald and Cindy Strong; 3 Brothers: Kevin strong and his wife Billie, Michael Strong and his wife Christina, Justin Schaefer and his wife Kayla; 1 Sister: T.J. Davis and her husband Johnathan; Nieces and Nephews: Taylor, Callie Zachary (Mia), Dorian Elyza, Kolyn, Karson, Jaelyn, Millie, Reagan, Dalton, Emma, Austin, Cariss, Ollie; Father In-Law: Mark Hicks; Mother In-Law: Valerie Hoover; 1 Brother In-Law: Dusty Hicks (Chasity); 3 Fur babies: Sable, Luna, Milo; A host of family and friends and his work family also survive. Preceded in death: Maternal Grandparents: Delmer and Betty Booher; Paternal Grandparents: James and Martha Strong. Family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, June 21st starting at 6 PM until 9 PM.

Funeral services for Helen B. Apple Anderson Jackson, 90 of Cookeville, will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 2 P.M. in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home, with Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Bro. Joel Hillis officiating. Burial will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville. She was born October 20, 1932, in Jackson County, and she passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023 at her residence in Cookeville. She was the daughter of the late Fred Donald Apple and Lena Maurine Apple. She was retired, and a member of the Antioch Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husbands: Eldridge Nick Anderson and Harlon Buck Jackson; Son: Kevin Anderson; Brother: Jere Apple; Grandson: Shane Pippin; and Great Granddaughter: Amaria Smith. Survivors include her Son: Greg (Amanda) Anderson of Cookeville; Daughter: Michelle Anderson Harris of Rickman; Grandchildren: Derek Harris, Nickole Stephens, Peyton Anderson, Kennedy Anderson, Dustin Smith, Paige Smith, and Holly Smith; and Great Grandchildren: Cole Harris, Carter Harris, Bella Harris, Bo Harris, Collin Harris, Shalyn Pippin, Leah Pippin, Waylon Leffew, Wyatt Leffew, Maverick Smith, and Dani Kate Smith. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Thursday from 12 Noon until time of services. A memorial service for Kaleen Emlee Fahrner, 72 of Cookeville, will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Presley Funeral Home with the Eddy Turner officiating. She died on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at home surrounded by loved ones. Born Monday, June 5, 1950 in Bay City, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late William Ervin LeMere and the late Catherine Bowden LeMere. She was the wife of Ronald Fahrner. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Presley Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Georgia Vanderpool Way, age 100, of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 2:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Bro. Raymond Henry, Bro. Eddy Way, and Bro. Tony Barnett will officiate with interment to follow in the Welch Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Way was born on October 6, 1922, in Monterey, to the late Will J. and Mildred Ford Vanderpool. Mrs. Way passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Way was a homemaker. She was a member of Monterey Free Will Baptist Church. She is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Sherry and Bobby Sprowl of Moraine, OH, Linda Gunter of Monterey; 4 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Eddy and Betty Way of Monterey, Ricky and Karen Way of Monterey, Charlie and Denette Way of Monterey, Randy Way of Monterey; 13 grandchildren, Vickie (Steve) Lewis, Dwane Sprowl (Paula), Chrissy (Ken) Finley, Mary (Danny) Holmes, Jimmy (Kim) Way, Derek Gunter, Samantha Way (Justin), Tyler Way, Trevor Way, Carli Way, Aubree Way (Shawn Jackson), Breeauna (Larry) Lee, and Kylie (Alston) Flowers; 19 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild due in October; And a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Robert Harold Prater, Sr., better known as Bobby, age 73 of Sparta, will be conducted 3:00pm Friday, June 23, 2023 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Rose Chapel Cemetery. Bobby went to be with the Lord at 9:03am Tuesday morning, June 20, 2023 in the ER of St. Thomas Highlands Hospital. Bobby was born December 28, 1949 in Sparta to the late Johnny M. and Thelma Ray Hodge Prater. He was an iron worker and had a long career in construction either for his own construction company or 20 plus years with J&S Construction. In addition to his construction work, he was a lifelong farmer. Bobby was a devout, God fearing Christian. He served as a deacon at Ole Bethel, Grace and Freedom Baptist Churches. He was a loving husband and a wonderful daddy to his children and Papa to his grandchildren. His happiest times were spent with all of his family being together. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother James E. Prater. Survivors include his wife of 54 years Janis Brown Prater; Son: Robby Prater; Daughter: Kim Eller and husband Todd; Son: Sam Prater and wife Meghan; Grandchildren: Kalab, Katie, Lexi, Brayden and AnaBelle. The family will receive friends from 4-8:00pm Thursday at Hunter Funeral Home.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Judy Lane Parrigin, age 73 of Livingston, will be conducted 11 AM Saturday, June 24th, from Flat Creek Cemetery. Bro. Jason Robertson will officiate. Mrs. Parrigin passed from this life on June 16, 2023, from the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on November 21, 1949, to the late Daniel and Deloris Bice Sandlin. Mrs. Parrigin loved spending time with her family, who were her main joy in life. She was very devoted to Daniel and David. Judy enjoyed sewing and crafts, and she always found hard work to be very fulfilling. Mrs. Parrigin leaves behind her son Michael Parrigin and wife Amy of Livingston; grandsons Nathan Harvey, Jacob Parrigin, Jonathan Harvey, Jeremiah Parrigin, Joseph Parrigin, David Parrigin, and Daniel Parrigin all of Livingston; granddaughter Mariah Harvey Craynon and husband Brady of Morris, Minnesota; brothers Jerry Sandlin and John Seals both of Michigan; and sisters Ellie Seals and Angel Seals both of Detroit, Michigan. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parrigin was preceded in death by her husband Michael Parrigin, daughter Shannon Harvey, and grandson Jesse Parrigin. The family will welcome friends at the graveside.

A memorial service for Regina Ruth (Lambert) Mayberry, 88, of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at 1 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home, with Brother Kevin Daughrity officiating. Interment will follow at Smith Chapel Cemetery. Regina passed peacefully at her home Tuesday, June 20th. Regina was born August 3, 1934, in Michigan, to the late Oplis Smith Lambert and Lizzie Mae (Meadows) Lambert. She met the love of her life, James Lee Mayberry, while working for Cookeville’s Bennett Roofing, soon after they wed. James enlisted in the Navy and made a career as an air traffic controller. Regina was a devoted military wife, she made Newfoundland, Cuba, Virginia Beach, Pensacola, and Texas her home. They raised four children, Roberta, James, Aubrey, and Ronnie. In 1975 Regina’s spouse retired from the Navy and relocated the family to the Mayberry farm in north Putnam County, where they spent the rest of their lives. Regina embraced the farm life with a passion for gardening, home-cooked meals, and her flower beds. In her later years, she took great pleasure in watching football and the birds, deer, and squirrels that gathered at her front door feeders. Regina was a doting grandmother to Shavonne, Poppy, and Sunny. Four caregivers blessed her life in her final years. She so looked forward to her Thursday hair appointments and special lunches. Regina was a long-time member of the Sycamore Church of Christ. Regina was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Mayberry, brothers Dee and Junior Lambert, and sister Lorena Lambert. Surviving are her children Roberta(Bill) Love, James (Wendy) Mayberry, Aubrey (Camille) Mayberry, Ronnie(Donna) Irwin, grandchildren Shavonne Hutchings, Poppy Fliss-Mayberry, and Sunny Fliss-Mayberry. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 24th from 11-1pm at the funeral home.

A Funeral service for Donald Paul Agee, 90 of Cookeville, will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Presley Funeral Home with Chaplain Matthew Finchum officiating. He died on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. Born Tuesday, January 3, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Williard Agee and the late Florence Gase Agee. He was a Veteran of Korea. The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM until time of service at 3:00 PM.

Funeral services for James “Jim” McCaleb, 86 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 4 PM at Colonial View Baptist Church. Interment will follow in West Cemetery. Jim passed away Monday, June 19, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends Saturday 1 PM until service time at the church.
