Funeral services for Ms. Brenda Kaye “better known as Kaye” Killmon age 79 of Livingston, will be held on Thursday, December 07, 2023 at 11 AM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. She passed from this life on Sunday, December 03, 2023 from the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born in Livingston on Sunday, October 22, 1944 to the late John Ed and Edith (Sullivan) Bilbrey. She served her county as Secretary of Overton County Board of Education for 42 years. She was a homemaker and always enjoyed being home with family most. She loved her beautiful flowers and flower gardens. She enjoyed cooking for family, and enjoyed reading her daily devotionals, as she was a member of the First Baptist Church. Basically she loved her family more than anything and always made it a priority; she wanted her family to be happy. She was a great friend to everyone…always loving and kind. One of her greatest joys was her grandson Kameron, anyone that knows her knew that. She adored everything about him. She loved the Lord and knew he was always in control. Survivors: 1 Daughter: Jamie Killmon Norris and husband Kevin of Rickman; 1 Son: John J. Killmon of Livingston; 1 very special Grandson: Kameron Norris of Rickman; 1 Sister In-Law: Hazel Bilbrey of Livingston; A host of nieces and nephews and friends also survive. Preceded in death: In addition to her parents; Father of her children: James Robert Killmon; 3 Brothers: Lansford Bilbrey, Carmon Bilbrey and wife Fern of Livingston, Larry Bilbrey and wife Virginia of Manchester, TN; 2 Sisters: Bertice Crenshaw of Sun City, AZ, Sue Copeland of Livingston. Family will welcome friends on Wednesday, December 06, 2023 starting at 5 PM until 9 PM at the funeral home.

Funeral Service for Betty Sue (Ramsey) Madden, 86, of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 12:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Alex Lisic officiating. Interment will follow in the Howard Cemetery, Putnam County. She passed from this life on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at her home. Betty was born Thursday, September 2, 1937, at Huff Farm in Smith County, Tennessee to the late Charlie and Alta (Cowan) Ramsey. Her family relocated to Michigan where she met her husband, Ed Madden, eventually returning to Tennessee to start their business, Suburban Tool Company. She was a passionate defender of her children and wanted the best for them and her grandchildren, spending many days babysitting through the years. She loved keeping her yard beautiful, helped by her grandson Joey in later years. She also worked hard to keep the family cemetery, Howard Cemetery of Putnam County, looking good and worked to find care for other area cemeteries. She is survived by, 3 Children, Randy Madden and his wife Donna, Rev. Michael Madden and his wife Penny, Peggy Harmann and her husband Jeff; Her grandchildren were special to her and included Joey Harmann and fiancee Jamie McElroy, Elizabeth Lisic and her husband, Alex, Randall Madden and his wife Brittany, Jessica Miller and her husband, Tyler, Tyler Madden and his wife Ashley, Zac Madden and his wife Chelsye, and Eric Madden; She was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special sister, Emma Jean Ramsey. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by, Husband, Byne Edgar (Ed) Madden. Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again, Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Jan Ann Smith, age 64, of Cookeville, and formerly of Alpine, will be conducted 12 noon, Thursday, December 7, 2023, from the Green Hill Cemetery. Bro. Randy Adcock will officiate. Mrs. Jan passed from this life from the comforts of her home in Cookeville. She was born in Monterey on October 24, 1959, to the late Leroy Hargis and Betty Dimple Stephens Abston. Jan was a member of the South Cookeville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. Jan loved nothing more than going shopping every chance she could. She had a green thumb for gardening and flowers. She loved her many dogs, and cooking for her family. Jan leaves behind her loving husband of 47 years, Mr. Michael Lee Smith of Cookeville; daughter, Kourtney Smith of Cookeville; sisters, Janice Hargis of Monterey, Donna Brown of Crawford, Debbie Stults of Crawford, Dana McDonald and husband Jeff of Allons, and Delana Stamps of Crawford; also, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Michael Smith, and grandmother, Daisy Stephens. The family will welcome friends at the graveside.

Funeral services for Kathy Johnson, age 67 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday December 7 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at West End Church of Christ Cemetery in Silver Point. Kathy passed away Tuesday November 28 at her home. Her family will receive friends Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time.

Funeral services for Tyler Matthew Kinnaird, 15 of the Dodson Branch Community, will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Grandfather Roy Patterson and Bro. Caleb Mackie officiating. Burial will follow in the Dodson Branch Cemetery in the Dodson Branch Community in Jackson County. He was born December 8, 2007, in Cookeville, and he passed away on November 30, 2023, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was the son of James Edward Kinnaird and Kathy Patterson Kinnaird. He was a sophomore at Jackson County High School. He was a member of the Union Grove Freewill Baptist Church. He was a resident of Dodson Branch. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James (Peaches) Kinnaird, of the Dodson Branch Community. Survivors include his Parents: James and Kathy Kinnaird of Dodson Branch, Brothers; Wesley (Amanda) Kinnaird, Dakota (Maggie) Kinnaird, and Blake Kinnard all the Dodson Branch Community, One sister Kaitlyn (Trevor) Ireland of Doyle Tennessee. Grandparents: Roy and Brenda Patterson of Cookeville TN, Grandmother: Shirley Kinnaird also of the Dodson Branch Community not to mention several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins that all loved him. Special mention to his friends whom he loved like Brothers, Parker Patterson, Lance Patterson, Jerry Meadows, James Harris, JJ Jaynes, Nathan Copeland, Davis Burton. And one very special girl who held his heart, Summer Stoner. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 2 pm to 8 pm, and Thursday from 11 am until time of services. Funeral Services for Phyllis Whittaker, age 82, of Monterey, will be conducted on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 1:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Bro. Tim Singleton will officiate with interment to follow in the Welch Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Whittaker was born on Saturday, December 7, 1940, in Crawford, to the late John Kermit and Cecil Lee Reeves Hargis. Mrs. Whittaker passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Whittaker was a Teacher Assistant working with Uffelman Elementary School for many years. She was a member of Standing Stone Church of Christ. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Whittaker of Monterey; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Marilyn Whittaker of Cookeville; granddaughter, Amber and David McClurkan of Cookeville; and great grandson, Whittaker McClurkan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Whittaker. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 11:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Phyllis requested memorial donations be given to St. Jude Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sara Ruth Lewis, age 93 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 at 12:00 pm in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Bro. Clarence Deloach will officiate. Mrs. Lewis died Monday December 4, 2023 at NHC Healthcare of Cookeville. Her family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home.

Funeral Service for Jerry Wayne Long, age 72 of Sparta, will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Doyle Church of the Nazarene with Tracy Curtis officiating. Burial will follow at Skurlock Cemetery. He passed away on December 1, 2023 at Vanderbilt University Hospital. Jerry was born on August 14, 1951 in Chattanooga, to the late Charlie Coffee Long and Dorothy Gladys Earls Long. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Mary Simmons Long, three brothers Charles Dale Long, John Kenneth Long and James Stanley Long; Daughter – Jennifer Lee (Charlie) of Sparta; Sister – Sherry Savage (Jonathan) of Doyle; Brother – Thomas Richard of Fort Worth, Texas; Sister-in-law – Glenda Young of Spencer; Grandsons – Dustin Bennett (Harley) of Sparta, Tennessee, Austin Bennett (Jessica) of Sparta; 10 great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. The family will receive friends on December 8, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the church.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Barbra Peek, age 74, of Rickman will be conducted 1 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2023, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Clay Springs Cemetery. Bro. David Brown will officiate. Mrs. Barbra passed from this life on Saturday night, December 2, 2023, from Vanderbilt Medical Center. She was born in Crawford on January 29, 1949, to the late Hubert and Berksie Stout West. Barbra had a passion for gardening and sewing throughout her life, and in her later years took up crossword puzzles. She loved her family dearly, and enjoyed cooking for them. She always took care of others first. Barbra leaves behind her husband Jimmie Peek of Rickman; daughter Thresa Peek of Rickman; son Travis Peek and wife Vickie of Hilham; grandchildren Billy Shoemake of Rickman, Thomas Shoemake of Rickman, and Matthew Peek of Cookeville; brother Terry West and wife Ina of Monterey; sister-in-laws Margret West of Livingston and Judy Robbins and husband Carl of Lebanon; brother-in-law Larry Peek and wife Brenda of Hilham; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Barbra was preceded in death by brothers Hollis West and John Thomas West; sister Pearl Cantrell; sister-in-law Ruby West; and brother-in-law Ross Cantrell. The family will welcome friends on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.

Memorial services for Philip E. Bumbalough, 71 of Brentwood, formerly of Cookeville, will be Friday, December 8 at 3 PM at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Family and friends will officiate. Interment will be West Cemetery at a later date. Mr. Bumbalough died Friday, December 1, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. He was born September 26, 1952 in Cookeville to the late Clinton Gilbert and Willene Shipley Bumbalough. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Jerry Bumbalough. Philip was a 1971 graduate of Putnam County Senior High School. He worked in property management. Survivors include daughter Alison Bumbalough of Cookeville, son Brandon Bumbalough of Madison, grandson Tyler Jeffries, sister Ruth Gentry of Brentwood, brothers Roy Bumbalough of Algood, Ray Bumbalough (Patricia) of Mt. Juliet, sister-in-law Cindy Bumbalough of Texas, a niece and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 PM until service time at the funeral home.

A celebration of life service for Ms. Terry Gail Ligon, age 65 of Baxter, will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Baxter Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Walt Phillips and Herb Leftwich will officiate. Terry died suddenly Sunday evening December 3, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Her family will receive friends Saturday from 9:00 am until service timeat the Baxter Chapel.

A memorial service for Phyllis Nell (Brannum) Copeland, age 69 of Byrdstown, will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. from Smyrna Church with Bro. Randy Tompkins and Bro. Ricky Cross officiating. The family has chosen cremation. Burial of the cremains will be in Smyrna Cemetery. She passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 at her residence. She was born January 25, 1954 in Byrdstown to Delmer Brannum and Gladys (Flowers) Brannum. She was a garment factory employee and a homemaker. Phyllis was survived by (2) daughters: Lisa Ledbetter and husband: Mark, Kari Beaty and husband: Jonathan; (1) son: Francis Copeland and wife: Beth; (15) grandchildren; (1) great-grandchild; (3) sisters: Georgia Walker, Sharon Bolin and Cynthia Brannum; (3) brothers: Malcolm Brannum, Delmer ‘Bubby’ Brannum and Jimmy Brannum. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Delmer and Gladys “Doodie” Brannum; Her Husband: Olen Copeland: (4) sisters: Carol Winningham, Martha ‘Toots’ Thomas, Darlene Davis and Laura Juarez; (2) brothers: David Brannum and Chris Brannum.

Funeral Services for Walter Clifty Stone, 97 of Sparta, will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Findlay Church of Christ. Burial will follow at O’Connor Cemetery. Bo served as a White Co. Commissioner and as a member of the White Co. Planning Commission. He was on the Insurance Board of the White Co. Farmers Mutual Insurance Company, the Parks and Recreation Board, served as an FHA director, and as a Boy Scout Leader. He was an active member of the Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon, Song Leader, and Sunday School teacher. In addition to his parents, Bo was preceded in death by a granddaughter Mara Elizabeth Stone, three brothers and their wives, LD (Willie L. Bartlett) Stone, JT (Margie Brown) Stone, and Clayton “Hoss” (Fanny Lou Carter) Stone, three sisters and their husbands, Mary Kate (Mitchell) Merriman, Bonnie (Bill) Kinnaird, and Mattie Pearl England, brother-in-law Bob Brannock, three nieces, Mary Don Prestridge, Connie Griffin, and Kim Moore, four nephews, Stoney Merriman, Greg Stone, Gary England, and David Kinnaird, and a great nephew Todd Stone. He was also preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Paula Young Gillespie and Edna Young Wilhite, four brothers-in-law, Frank Gillespie, Gary Phillips, David Howard, and Charles Gore, a niece Scarlet Howard, a nephew Joel Davis, and a great-nephew, Collin Wilhite. Bo is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred Young Stone of Sparta, two sons and a daughter-in-law, James “Bozie” Stone of Sparta and Kerry (Laura Wilson) Stone of Chattanooga, three granddaughters, Karson Stone of Austin, Texas, Olivia Stone of Sparta, and Skyler Stone of Brentwood, two step grandchildren, Brett and Angelina Atkins of Chattanooga, and a great grandson Denver Stone. He is survived by one sister, Annie Mae Stone Brannock of Richmond, Indiana, four sisters-in-law, Barbera Young Phillips, Louise Young Howard, Janet Young Davis of Sparta, and Judy Young Gore of Watertown, two brothers-in-law, Ralph Wilhite and Bobby Davis of Sparta, numerous nieces & nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews, great grandnieces & grandnephews, neighbors and many friends throughout Tennessee. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM at the church.

Funeral services for Hazel Virginia Maynard, age 84 of Cookeville, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday December 9 at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Hazel’s nephew Jim Judd will officiate. Interment will follow at Paran Cemetery. She passed away Sunday December 3, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born January 11, 1939 in Overton County, TN, Hazel was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Hazel began her working career at American Airlines. She later opened and operated Maynard’s American Service in Nashville. She was loving mother to Johnny Lee Maynard of Kettering, OH, and Nancy Elizabeth Maynard of Cookeville. She was a cherished grandmother to Blake (Heather), Elijah, and Samuel Maynard. Preceding Hazel in death were her beloved parents, Alfred Hensley Judd and Nancy Elizabeth Brown Judd; her husband, Julius Lee Maynard, with whom she shared a profound and enduring love; her son, William Dale Maynard, whose memory she held close to her heart; and her brothers and sisters, John Henry, Alvin C., Bill, Tipp, Jessie, Charles, Brownie, and Jim T. Judd, Rose Nell Wilkerson, Malinda Gore, and Betty Jo Garrison. Her family will receive friends Saturday from 12 p.m. until service time.

Funeral services Joe Stanley Judd, 83 of Doyle, will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11am at Greenwood Baptist Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery with full military honors provided by The Veterans’ Honor Guard. He passed away in Sterling, Illinois at the age of 83 on December 2, 2023. He was born on March 27, 1940 to John Harvey and Lota Elaine Jones Judd. Joe was born and raised in Doyle, and moved to Illinois in 1959. He prided himself on being a hard worker his entire life. As a young boy, Joe started working in the family lumber industry. He then worked for Northwestern Steel and Wire (The Mill) for 33 years. After retiring from “The Mill” Joe worked for Transport America for eight years, driving semi all over North America. Joe served in the United States Army from 1964 until 1966 and was an aircraft mechanic and helicopter door gunner, while serving in Vietnam. He was very proud of his service to his country. Joe loved Johnny Cash and would often sing his tunes, some even said he sounded just like him. He was a caring and compassionate man, who was known to make friends with anyone he met. He could also do anything, from auto body work on cars, mechanical work, woodworking, plumbing, electrical and construction work. Joe was not a man to take life sitting down. One of his greatest joys was being an avid runner and he lived by the motto, “When I Run I Fly, When I Fly My Soul Is Free, To Be Free I Run.” He was proud of his 43,000 logged running miles. Joe was proud of his Southern heritage and loved to be known to his family as, “Pa Judd.” Joe was a Christian man of great faith and he was dedicated to his church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John William Judd Sr., his sisters Dorothy Ruth Judd McDonald and Betty Jean Judd and his former wife Lynda Lee (Judd) Carlson. He is survived by his children: Teresa (Brian) Kikuts, Jo Lynne (Dennis) Hartz, Troy (Kristin) Judd, Jennifer (Ben) Gutshall and Jessica (Amber Briddick) Judd; grandchildren Aaron Judd, Tyler Gibson, Hailey Gibson, Jacob Cady, Alex Cady, Josie Cady, Lynzie Cady, Brady Hartz, Harper Judd, Connor Judd, Greyson Judd, Finleigh Judd, Deacon Gutshall and Kipton Gutshall; great-grandchild Addilyn Riley; step-children Robbie Watkins, Kerry Leuzinger and Kim Jensen; and sister-in-law Jeanne Judd. The family will receive friends on December 16, 2023 from 10am to 11am at Greenwood Baptist Church in Doyle. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to Greenwood Baptist Church and a veteran’s organization of the family’s choice.

A celebration of life for Marine Bumbalough, age 83, of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 3pm in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta. She passed away on November 4, 2023, in Apopka, Florida. She was born on February 14, 1940. Marine was a brilliant homemaker, devoted wife of 59 years to Terry Bumbalough, loving mother of two children, grandmother (Emma) to five grandchildren and blessed by many great friendships. Marine was an artist, known for her talent in painting. She started her artistic journey when her husband went to Vietnam, and she began creating beautiful paintings. Over time, her passion evolved into craft books, and collectible dolls that were cherished by collectors across America. She created art pieces under the label ‘Sweet Expressions’, referencing lyrics from the hymn ‘Sweet, Sweet Spirit’ by Doris Mae Akers, and for the doll’s unique hand painted faces that highlight the individual qualities of all God’s people. Marine is survived by her loving husband, Terry Bumbalough, her sister Hellan (Teen) Shown, her son Randy Bumbalough, and five grandsons: Whitten, Alex and Rhye Bumbalough, and Parker and Chase Robinson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marci Robinson, her parents, Orley and Dorothy Maynard, and her sisters, Barbara Thomas, and Mable Willoughby. A visitation will be held from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Marine Bumbalough.
