Mr. Larry Click, age 85, former resident of Cookeville and Professor of Agricultural Engineering at Tennessee Tech University, died Monday, March 4th in Knoxville. Arrangements are incomplete.

Douglas “Doug” Dewitt Quire, 72 of Cookeville, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Doug was born Friday, January 25, 1952, in Muncie, Indiana, and he was the son of the late Robert Howard Quire and the late Nancy Jane (Shears) Quire. Doug was a loving son, brother, husband, father, Papa, uncle, and friend. Doug is survived by his wife of 34 years, Denise Ennist; 8 Children, Douglas Quire, Jr., Deann Quire, Cynthia Quire, Stephanie Thomas, Melody Quire, Matthew Whicher, Brittany Quire, and Janey Quire; 13 Grandchildren; 1 Great-Grandson; 3 Sisters, Cathy Bucceri, and Karen Stegman; 2 Brothers, Robert Quire, and Wayne Quire; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Quire. Doug chose cremation, the family followed his wishes, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Funeral Services for Mack Odell Greenwood, 75 of Gainesboro, will be conducted on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 11 am in the Chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lynn Cemetery. He was born November 8, 1948 in Jackson County, and he passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. He was the son of Oplis and Olene Barlow Greenwood. Mr. Mack was a member of the Poston Chapel Presbyterian Church and a former member of the UAW. He worked for Dacco Manufacturing in Cookeville for 31 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bobby Greenwood, Hugh Greenwood and Jimmy Greenwood. Survivors include his son, Jason (Tammy Jo) Greenwood of Buffalo Valley; brothers, George (Pat) Greenwood of Clarksville and Charles (Doris) Greenwood of Lebanon; sister, Mary Heady of Cookeville and grandson, Dalton Hunter. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, 4 pm to 8 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home and again on Wednesday, 9 am to 11 am. Memorial donations may be made to Lynn Cemetery by contacting the funeral home.

Funeral services for Reba “Sue” Denton, age 80 of Doyle, will be on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Thurman Funeral Home. She passed away on March 4th, 2024. She was born in Quebeck to Charlie and Beulah Hutchings on March 1st, 1944. She is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Dean Denton; and her sisters, Inez Girdley, Mae Simmons; and brothers, James and Hubert Hutchings. She is survived by her daughter, Christi Denton; and her granddaughter, Elliott Grace Weber; and her brother, Jesse Hutchings. The family will accept visitors on Wednesday, March 6th from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM in the chapel of Thurman Funeral Home.

A funeral service for Brenda Kay Henry, 73 of Sparta, will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 6. 2024 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Dewey Young and Mike Kerr officiating. Burial will follow at Young Cemetery. She passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, in Sparta. Brenda was born March 16, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Squire Emmett Brady and the late Cora Ellen Brady. In addition to her parents Brenda is preceded by her sisters, Clata Ray Parris, Ethel May Young, Lillie Faye Miller, and son-in-law Larry Clendenon. Surviving family include: Husband – R.V Henry; Sons – Jason (Kaye) Henry and Steve (Carla) Henry, and Derrick (Kathleen) Yates; Daughters – Rhonda (Sean) Livesay, Pam Yates and Steve Roberts and Teresa Clendenon; Brother – Roy (Jackie) Brady; A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survived. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 11:00 until the time of the service.

Funeral Service for Johnnie Pearl Thomas, 95 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 11:00 am from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bros. Ted Kocher and Jimmie Hodge officiating. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. She passed from this life on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Signature Health Care. Johnnie was born Saturday, March 3, 1928, in Sparta, and she was the daughter of the late John Frank Malone and the late Millie (Dickerson) Malone. Johnnie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, Memaw, aunt, and friend. She was a charter member of Cookeville First Assembly which later became Life Church, she was very faithful and loved fellowship. She loved chocolate, birds, and flowers. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing guitar and singing. Johnnie was loved by those who knew her and she will be greatly missed. Johnnie is survived by, 2 Children, Judy Thomas and Dwayne Thomas and his wife, Jeanette; Granddaughter, Diona Brown and her husband, James; 5 Great-Grandchildren, Cierra Thomas, Kyler Brown, Kayleigh Brown, Abby Donnafield, and Payton Thomas; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. In addition to her parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Thomas; Grandson, Douglas Thomas; Daughter-In-Law, Donna (Currie) Thomas; 8 Brothers and 5 Sisters. The family wishes to thank Signature Health Care of Putnam County for their care of Johnnie. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again, Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.

Graveside services and interment for Mary Paulette Thomas, 77 of Baxter will be Thursday, March 7 at 11 AM at Boiling Springs Cemetery. Bro. Stan Gantt will officiate. Mrs. Thomas died Sunday night, March 3, 2024 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born April 4, 1946 in Jackson County, to the late William “Bill” and Gilla Anderson Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Austin Thomas who died September 11, 2020, brothers Jimmy Martin and Leroy Martin. Paulette retired as a home health aide with Southern Comfort Home Health Care of Cookeville. Her faith was an important part of her life, she worshipped at the Bussell Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include daughter Lisa (Wendy) Bowman, son Randy (Monica) Thomas all of Baxter, grandchildren: Nathan (Mikayla ) Thomas, Dylon (Chelsea) Bowman, Ayla (Andy) Shelley, Austin Moore and Mason Thomas, great-grandchildren: Clara Kayann Thomas and Andrea James Bowman. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Everyone will meet at the cemetery Thursday morning for the graveside service.

Graveside services for Mary Frances Dudney Crowder, 97 of Jackson County, will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 1 pm at the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in Gainesboro. She was born February 20, 1927, in Carthage, and she passed from this life on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Williamson Medical Center in Franklin. She was the daughter of Jess Hackett and Minerva Cowan Hackett. She married Charles Clark Dudney of Whitleyville, and they started a family. After his passing, she later married Audney Crowder of Jackson County. She worked for over 45 years in the banking industry. She was a member of the Whitleyville Church of Christ in Whitleyville, while living in Jackson County. After moving to Hermitage, she became a member of the Old Hickory Church of Christ in Old Hickory, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Charles Clark Dudney of Whitleyville, and Audney Crowder of Jackson County; brother: Jess Hackett of Carthage; sister: Ruth Piper of Old Hickory; granddaughter: Lauren Paige Dudney Harshaw of Oklahoma City, OK. Survivors include her son: John (Dianne) Hackett Dudney of Franklin; sister: Joann (David) Smith of St. Pete, FL; grandson: Johnathan (Lydia) Taylor Dudney of Knoxville; great grandchildren: Reese and Heath Dudney. Many other friends and relatives also survive. Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations for the Whitleyville Church of Christ in Whitleyville, or the charity of the donor’s choice. Donations may be made by contacting the business office of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Billy C. Chilton age 83 of the Fellowship Community of Allons, will be held on Thursday, March 07, 2024 at 2 PM from the Fellowship Church in Allons with burial to follow in the Fellowship Cemetery. He passed from this life on Monday morning, March 4, 2024 from the Livingston Regional Hospital. Survivors: Wife: Danya Kay Chilton; 3 Daughters: Cindy Frazier, Melanie Johnson, Stacey Norrod; 2 brothers: Dennie Chilton, Bobby Chilton; 1 Sister: Diane Ferrell; Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren also survive. The family will welcome friends at the Fellowship Church on Wednesday evening, March 6th starting at 5 PM until 9 PM then on Thursday morning, 7th starting at 10 AM.

The family of Dorothy Lee Elliott, 94 of Sparta, will have a celebration of Life at 11:00 AM at the Christian Life First Assembly of Sparta on Saturday, March 9, 2024. She went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. She was born on Friday, December 27, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Chester Batts and the late Ruth Jackson Batts. Surviving family include: Sons- Keith Elliott and Dave Elliott; Daughters – Karen Morgan, Dana Watkins, Laura Elliott, and Raychelle Elliott; Grandchildren – Jim Wallace, Mason Wallace, Stacey Elliott, and Paige Elliot Schisler, Amanda Barns, Shaina Elliott, Bethany Watson, and Shali Dennison along with 29 other grandchildren. Several great grandchildren also survived.

Funeral services for Mrs. Delphia Frasher, 93 of Brookdale Senior Living in Englewood Ohio, and formerly of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 1:ooPM from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Josh Hodum officiating. Burial will follow at the West Cemetery (North). She passed away peacefully at Miami Valley Hospital on February 28th. On August 6, 1930, in a little house adjacent to Mill Creek in northern Putnam County Tennessee, Willis and Ona (Roberts) Allen welcomed what would be their only child into the world. A baby girl that they named Delphia Ethelene. Ona’s grandpa suggested her first name and although Ona disliked it, her compassion and fondness for the old civil war soldier won in the end. She honored his request. However, for the remainder of her life, Ona would refer to her girl as “Ethel”. Sometime later the Allen’s moved to Dayton, Ohio where Ethel met Homer Frasher. They married on March 19th, 1949 and a year later welcomed a son, James, or Jimmy. The family moved back to Cookeville after Homer retired from General Motors. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Allen of Cookeville, and her husband of 39 years, Homer Lee Frasher. She is survived by her son, James R (Deborah) Frasher, her grandchildren James L (Dawn) Frasher, Johnathan (Anissa) Frasher, Diana (Eric) Laquerre and step-grandson Todd (Ashlee) Yount. Additionally, she leaves behind her great-grandchildren, who consider themselves fortunate enough to have been present and witnessed on more than one occasion, the flawless delivery of a backhanded compliment from such a master of sass, their grandma Frasher. Travis (Kelsey), Taylor, and David Frasher, Courteney Frasher, Jaden Phy and Logan, Bailey and Owen Laquerre. Also step-great grands Haddie, Holland, Hazel, Henley and Brandie (Will) Hilton. Visitation with the family will be held only on Saturday from 11:00am till the service time at 1:00PM. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the West Cemetery (North-Bangham Community) cemetery fund.

A Funeral service for Judy H Hyzer, 82 of Cookeville, will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Presley Funeral Home with the Bro. Charlie Hutchinson officiating. Interment will be in Double Springs Cemetery, Cookeville. She peacefully went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 3, 2024, while being surrounded by her loved ones. Born Monday, February 9, 1942 in Liberty, New York, she was the daughter of the late Ray Yaun and the late Hazel Yaun. Being raised in the Catskill of northern New York, Judy was a graduate of Liberty High School. There were many family clambakes in the backyard. She helped in the area nursing home, then became a teller at the local bank. She moved to Cookeville 1981, where she’s been for the last 43 years. Judy was a very loving wife, Mom, and Grandma. She loved her children, all of them. She was a very family oriented person, having many gatherings during the holidays and whenever the kids just wanted to get together, they always went home. Judy was the “firecracker” of the family, she was quite verbose. “Your never too old to help”, Judy volunteered at the YMCA’s in the “Learn to Swim” program while she was in her 70’s, and always donated to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital. She would call the family in New York to keep up to date with them and would always let the Cookeville bunch know what was going on up there, even though they don’t remember them. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. Judy was a Godly Woman and loved the Lord. Her father Ray, and brother, Raymond started Yaun’s Plumbing Company in New York and has now grown to a much larger company. Judy is survived by 2 sons Tracy (Amy Cronk) Hyzer of Cookeville, Todd Hyzer of Cookeville; 5 grandchildren Ashley McKee, Ashton McKee, Brandon Hyzer, Tyler Hyzer, and Mia Hyzer; great-grandchildren Austin Hyzer, Kinlee Kres, Eligh McKee. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her daughter, Susie Hyzer McKee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM. A Memorial service for Theresia Ellen Grogg, 81 of Cookeville, will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Presley Funeral Home. She passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born Tuesday, March 10, 1942 in Greenville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Leo Goubeaux and the late Mary Beyke Goubeaux. Theresia was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She raised her 5 children by herself while working and always providing for her children. She never missed one of their practices or ball games. She always nurtured her children, but was terribly scared when they got sick. Theresia loved her family, and enjoyed the gatherings during Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. She was an awesome cook, cake decorator, even making several wedding cakes. She enjoyed going to the beach and loved eating at Calabash Seafood Restaurant. She worked at Fentress Industries as a seamstress and at Russell Stover’s Candies. She enjoyed sewing, making most of her children’s clothing. She never knew a stranger. Theresia was a member of the Catholic Church and loved the Lord. Jimmy was her favorite child! Actually, her favorite was who ever was doting on her at that time. Surviving are 3 sons Eric (Betty) Grogg of GA, James “Jimmy” Grogg of Monterey, Mike (Sandra) Grogg of Hendersonville; 1 daughter Rhonda Marie Tinch of Crossville; grandchildren Melissa Miller, Justin Laster, Jameson Laster, Tyler Tinch, Erin Grogg, and Ashlyn Grogg; great-grandchildren Dawson Miller, Melyssa Grogg, Masien Shelton, Lydian Laster, Jaylee Laster, Gavin Laster, and Jacob Laster; Special friends Mary LaPeer and Debbie Klem; siblings Larry (Jeanettia) Goubeaux, Doris (Dennis) Brown, and Cecil (Diane) Goubeaux; And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Theresia was preceded in death by daughter Robin Laster, siblings Joan Franks, and George Goubeaux. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.

A memorial service for Mr. James Rhea “Jim” Slatten, age 70 of Rock Island, a native of White County, will be conducted 1:00pm on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. He passed away Saturday morning, February 24, 2024 in the emergency room of St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville. Jim was born December 23, 1953 in Sparta, to the late William Wade and Mildred Marie Boyd Slatten, Jr. In honor of Jim’s wishes, Hunter Funeral Home has been entrusted with his cremation. The family will receive friends after 11:00am on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Hunter Funeral Home.
