Lisa Johnson, 64 of Cookeville, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at her residence. She was born April 2, 1959, in Jackson County. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Jack Johnson and Christine Smith Johnson. She was a resident of Cookeville, and formerly of Gainesboro. Survivors include her Brothers: Jerry Johnson of Vancouver, Canada, and Don (Laura) Johnson of Cookeville, TN; Sister: Jackie Haynes of Cookeville; Nieces and Nephews: Paige (Keegan) Smith, Grey (Rebecca) Johnson, Scott (Liz) Haynes, Brooke (David) Matthews, Lindsey (Seth) Russell, and Olivia (Jason) Hammons; and a host of great nieces and nephews. Lisa loved everyone, and in return, others were encouraged to care dearly for her. She particularly enjoyed being around her nieces and nephews, especially when they were babies. Babies always made her smile. Private interment will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the Rett Syndrome Foundation by contacting Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Timmy Henry, age 56, of Monterey, will be conducted on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 2:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Floyd will officiate with interment to follow in the Love Joy Cemetery. Mr. Henry was born on Monday, December 19, 1966, in Monterey, to Bernice Murphy Henry of Monterey, and the late Billy Henry. Mr. Henry passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Full Gospel Assembly. In addition to his mother, he is survived by, 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Tammy and Wilborn Bell of Mayland, Cathy and Lin Foulks of Monon, IN; 3 brothers, Mike Henry of Monterey, Jerry Henry of Monterey, Bruce Henry of Monterey. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 12:00 PM until time of services at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be given to the funeral home.
Funeral services for Lloyd Christopher Hinds, age 78 of Jamestown, will be held Friday, October 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM from Fairview Baptist Church with Bro. Johnny Smith and Bro. John Gunter officiating. Burial will be in Upchurch Cemetery. He passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born April 9, 1945 in Little Crab, TN to William Grady Hinds and Lelar Marie (Pennycuff) Hinds. He attended United Wesleyan Church and Fairview Baptist Church. He loved doing woodwork. Lloyd is survived by (3) sons: Chandler Hinds, Tracy Hinds, Rodney Hinds and wife: Lisa; (2) grandchildren: Balea Cooper and husband: Blake, Blake French and fiancé: Maleigha; (1) great-grandchild: Benton French; his sweetheart: Paulette Flick Hutchison: ,Brother and Sister-In-Laws. Also survived by other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Grady and Lelar Hinds; wife: Mona (Gilreath) Hinds; (1) sister: Lola Norris; (3) brothers: Claxon, James and Clyde Hinds. Mr. James Michael passed from this life on Wednesday morning, October 11, 2023, from the Tri Star Stone Crest Medical Center in Smyrna. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on April 25, 1988, to Charlotte Ann White Presley and the late James Michael Presley, Sr. He was a 2007 graduate of Livingston Academy. He loved his family and all of his friends. He especially loved and raised his niece, Chloe. James Michael enjoyed music, video games, old movies, and westerns. James Michael leaves behind his mother, Charlotte Presley of Allons; brothers, Paul Presley of McMinnville, James Anthony Presley of Fountain Town, IN, and Stephen Presley of Greenfield, IN; nieces Chloe Presley, Sophie Marie Thompson, and Samantha Ann Presley; nephew, Caleb Alexander Thompson; grandmother, Betty Jean White of Indianapolis, IN. In addition to his father, James Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Michelle Presley and grandfather, Thomas M. White.

Travis was born on Monday, December 25, 1978, in Crossville, to Gale and Pat Sisco Atkins of Clarkrange. He passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a general laborer. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He loved University of Michigan Football, Star Wars, gardening, and fishing. He was a graduate of Monterey High School Class of 1998 and a member of Clarkrange Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Tina Webb Atkins of Monterey; sons, Travis Atkins Jr. and Brandon Atkins of Monterey; sisters, Jessica (and Josh) McCloud of Monterey, Trista Atkins of Monterey; niece and nephew, Makayla and Tristan McCloud; great nephew, Waylon McCloud; mother-in-law, Tammie Hoag of Crossville; and sister-in-law, Jessica Webb of Livingston. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Rev. J.R. and Zelda Sisco; and paternal grandparents, Parmley and Flossie Atkins. Graveside Celebration of Life Services for Harvey Dale Stamps, age 64, of Monterey, will be conducted on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Welch Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Stamps was born on November 2, 1958, in Monterey, to the late James Dorton and Zula Mae White Stamps. Mr. Stamps passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at his sister and brother-in-law’s home in Monterey. Mr. Stamps was a general laborer. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Pete Templeton of Monterey; stepson, Donnie Bullard of Harriman; granddaughter, Myracle Stamps of Harriman; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Stamps; sisters, Inez “Boots” McCormick, Doris Key, and Mary Gay; and brothers, Jimmy, Cecil, Ralph, Sonny, Donny, Danny, and Earl Stamps. The family will receive friends at the Welch Memorial Cemetery for Graveside Celebration of Life Services.
Memorial Service for Janet Rose Sims, 74 of Sparta, will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, October 15, 2023 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Doug Benningfield officiating and the Nurses Honor Guard Presentation. She passed away on October 10, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on October 18, 1948, in Ayr, Scotland to the late Charles and Charlotte McKie Clark. She was a loving mother, ma, and friend to everyone she met. She was a Registered Nurse until she retired in 2009, but she continued being a nurse and caregiver to her family and friends. When she wasn’t caring for others, she enjoyed making crafts and attending craft fairs with her friends. Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by her family, especially her grandbabies. She had an amazing gift of making everyone feel loved and she welcomed so many into her home over the years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother John Clark, beloved mother and father in-law, Tom Frank and Emogene Sims, sister and brother in-law Jean Ann and Bobby Chambers, and brother in-law, Glenn “Buckshot” Sims. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Tommy Sims; Daughter: Kirsty Sims Young (Steven) of Sparta; Sons: Charles Sims (Carrie) of Sparta, Thomas Sims of Sparta, Shiloh Sims (Paige) of Athens, TN; Brother: William Clark of Vancouver, British Columbia; Brother and sister in-laws: Keith Sims (Freda) of Sparta, Ruby Todd (John) of Murfreesboro, Kim Sims of Sparta, Judy Clark of Victoria, British Columbia; 11 grandchildren; Many nieces and nephews; Special caregivers and friends: Jean Parks and Samatha McFrisby Sims. She was born February 8, 1957 in Newark, New Jersey, and she was the daughter of the late Anthony Testa and the late Theresa Lubertazza Testa. Survivors include: Daughters- Teresa Brown (Todd) and Kimberly Robinson (Eric); Grandchildren- Andrew Brown (Chloe), Cassidy Brown, Jordan Evans, and Bennett McMahon; Sister- Bonnie Neville (Mark); Niece- Megan Neville; Nephew- Nick Neville (Bryan Thomas).

William Charles Sliger was born in Cookeville on July 29, 1985, to Garry and Cathy (Davis) Sliger. William worked in the construction industry as a pipeline layer. In addition to his parents, he is survived by three children: Brayden Price, William Sliger and Arianna Sliger. Two Sisters & Brother-In-Law: Jennifer Hester & Patrick Cockerell, and Deanna (Sliger) Osluand. His Paternal Grandmother: Betty Bumbalough. Nephews and Niece: Nick and Gabe Hester, Kaden, Kaitlyn, and Zane Pass. He is preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents: William C. Davis Jr. and Francis Davis, Paternal Grandfather: Charlie Sliger, and Brother-In-Law: Geoff Oslund. She was born December 6, 1942 in Dunlap, and she was the daughter of the late Hubert Bowman and the late Edna Hatfield Bowman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Childress, daughter, Jamie Childress, sister, Olena Shoulders, and brother, Thomas Bowman. Survivors include: Sons- Scotty Childress (Kristy) of Sparta, and Jason Childress (Tracy) of Cookeville; Grandchildren- Joseph, Tiffany, Rachel, Renae, Rebekah, Randy, Daniela, Mirandy, Shaylee, Shayna, Nevaeh, Geoffory, and Gage; 26 Great-Grandchildren; Brother- Kelly Sam Bowman of Pikeville.
