Mrs. Kathy Cantrell, age 68 of Cookeville, died Friday morning, October 13th. Arrangements are incomplete.
Funeral services for Mr. Carl Mervin Hellman, age 85 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Bro. David Eldridge will officiate. Standing guard at the casket will be members of the Putnam County Rescue Squad. Interment will be held also on Tuesday, October 17 at 3:00 p.m. in the Hendersonville (TN) Memory Gardens. Carl died on October 12, 2023, in Cookeville. Born on December 6, 1937, in Shelton, Washington. Carl was a man of deep faith, a loving family man, and a dedicated professional. Carl was the son of the late Carl Edward Hellman and Georgia McKay Hellman. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Jane Hurt Hellman, and their three children, Michael (Ann) Hellman of Cookeville, Mark (Mahlon) Hellman of Hendersonville, and Mickie (Jason) Malham of White House. Carl was a proud grandfather to Sara Hellman, Brianna Hellman, Nicholas Malham, Olivia (Lorne) Jaques, Joseph (Sadie) Malham, Aaron Malham, Marlee Hellman, and Manning Hellman. Carl obtained his doctorate from The University of Washington. He was dedicated to his profession and used his extensive knowledge to serve the community as a pharmacist. Carl began his career in the United States Army as a pharmacist, a role that he held with great honor and distinction. He later transitioned to civilian life and became a respected pharmacy owner. He also worked in various hospitals and private companies, always ensuring the best care for his patients. In addition to his professional endeavors, Carl was deeply involved in his local church, the Samaria Church of Christ since moving to Cookeville twenty years ago. His faith was a guiding principle in his life, and he served the church as a deacon, embodying the teachings of Christ in his everyday life. Those who knew Carl would often describe him as a faith-filled man. Beyond his professional and spiritual commitments, Carl was a handyman who loved the outdoors. He spent countless hours working on his property, tending to the landscape with a meticulous hand and a joyous heart. His love for travel saw Carl and Jane exploring four continents, creating memories and experiences that he would fondly share with his family and friends. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Crest Lawn Cemetery, Cookeville. She passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. Born Friday, July 17, 1942 in Cookeville, she was the daughter of the late Herman Rice and the late Vera Williams Fields. She is survived by husband of 64 years Walter Kermit Vickers. She is also survived by: daughter: Lisa ( Gerry) Whitehead of Cookeville; son: Greg (Katrina) Vickers of Wilmington, OH; grandchildren: Jacklyn Vickers, Samuel (Makayla) Vickers, Jacob Vickers, Matthew (Nicole) West, Morgan (Kerri) West; sister: Elaine McCormick; brother: Lonnie Rice. She is also survived by a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Lilly is preceded in death by her parents, brother A J Rice, grandson Levi West, brother-in-law Bruce McCormick, sister-in-law Judy Rice and son-in-law L R West. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home, and again on Tuesday October 17, 2023 from 9:00 AM until time of service.
Funeral services for Ruby H. Hastings, age 94 of Monterey, will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 1 pm from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home in Livingston. Burial will follow in the Netherland Cemetery. Mrs. Ruby Hastings passed away on October 13, 2023, at Grand Brook Memory Care of Greenwood, IN. She was born on September 14, 1929, in Overton County, to the late Albert and Verna Bilbrey. Mrs. Hastings graduated from Livingston Academy in 1948. Her family includes her late husband of 58 years Bobby Lee Hastings, married May 8, 1954; two sons and daughters-in-law; Richard (Merry) Hastings, Randall (Melody A.) Hastings from Indianapolis, IN; three grandchildren: Alexander (Katie) Hastings, Melody L. (Tim) Perzanowski, Jarrett Hastings; and one great grandchild: Penny Laine Perzanowski. Mrs. Hastings was preceded in death by three brothers: R.S. Bilbrey, William Vasco Bilbrey, James Cordell Bilbrey and one sister Lillian Elizabeth Watson. Bob and Ruby were devoted members of the Monterey Church of Christ in Monterey. Ruby was a faithful servant of the Lord, an elder’s wife, always willing to participate in church family fellowship and gatherings. She shared her love and faith in benevolent work helping others. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who lived as an example of unconditional love for her family. The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, October 18th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Monterey Church of Christ.

Clara Sandra Hunter of Cookeville passed away on October 13, 2023, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born July 27, 1950, in Gainesboro she was the daughter of the late George E Jones and the late Clara Dovie Jones. She is survived by: her three daughters: Sharon Pippin (James Pippin), Crystal Hunter and Fonna Geesling (Tim Geesling). Sister-in-law Gail Hunter (BR Smith). Brother-in-law Bobby Sherfield. Host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 17th. 5 pm-9 pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home and again on Wednesday, October 18th 11 am-2 pm until time of service.

She passed away at 2:05pm Saturday, October 14, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family. Rita was born August 11, 1968 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Robert Lee & Linda Sue Williams Morris, Jr. She loved spending time with her family whether it was watching movies with her children as they were growing up to now watching TikTok videos with her granddaughter. She enjoyed traveling to Ohio and Florida and always had her phone in her hand taking pictures of every moment. Family was so important to her that she was known to do mechanic work alongside her brother. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her grandmothers that were so dear to her, Carrie Morris and Gladys Williams and a beloved aunt Bessie Adams. Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her daughter Kaylin Morris; Two sons: Joshua Morris and Dylan Morris; Granddaughter: Caroline Morris; Two sisters: Tanya Morris and Tina Six-Morris; Brother: Robert Morris, Jr. The family will receive friends after 2:00pm Wednesday at Hensley Chapel Baptist Church.

William Charles Sliger was born in Cookeville on July 29, 1985, to Garry and Cathy (Davis) Sliger. William worked in the construction industry as a pipeline layer. In addition to his parents, he is survived by three children: Brayden Price, William Sliger and Arianna Sliger. Two Sisters & Brother-In-Law: Jennifer Hester & Patrick Cockerell, and Deanna (Sliger) Osluand. His Paternal Grandmother: Betty Bumbalough. Nephews and Niece: Nick and Gabe Hester, Kaden, Kaitlyn, and Zane Pass. He is preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents: William C. Davis Jr. and Francis Davis, Paternal Grandfather: Charlie Sliger, and Brother-In-Law: Geoff Oslund. She was born December 6, 1942 in Dunlap, and she was the daughter of the late Hubert Bowman and the late Edna Hatfield Bowman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Childress, daughter, Jamie Childress, sister, Olena Shoulders, and brother, Thomas Bowman. Survivors include: Sons- Scotty Childress (Kristy) of Sparta, and Jason Childress (Tracy) of Cookeville; Grandchildren- Joseph, Tiffany, Rachel, Renae, Rebekah, Randy, Daniela, Mirandy, Shaylee, Shayna, Nevaeh, Geoffory, and Gage; 26 Great-Grandchildren; Brother- Kelly Sam Bowman of Pikeville. The family will welcome friends from 4:30 PM until time of the service at the funeral home.
