Obituaries For Monday, May 15

Mrs. Joeanne McBroom Wilson, 85 of Cookeville died Saturday May 13, 2023 at her home. Arrangements are pending.

The family of Anna Sue Maynard Simmons, age 90 of Spencer, will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 16th at Crestlawn Funeral Home in Cookeville with the service to follow at 1;00 pm. Interment will be at the Spencer Town Cemetery in Spencer. Sue passed peacefully on Thursday, May 11, 2023 with her family beside her and entered her eternal home with her Lord and Savior. Sue was born February 22, 1933 to the late Brintz and Annie Maynard in Van Buren County, Spencer. Sue was a homemaker and sales associate at Harvey’s and Peebles department stores in the ladies department. She was a talented cross stitcher of pictures and Christmas ornaments. She loved to cook and was a dessert connoisseur. Her favorite things were, decorating her home, the color blue, butterflies, clothes, jewelry and reading books, especially cookbooks, biographies, poetry and old romantic novels adorned with beautiful book covers that she chose from a retired Bookmobile at the Nashville Flea Market. She also enjoyed collecting Depression glass. Sue was a member of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church. She faithfully attendended services and will be remembered for her love of her family and faith of God. She was a devoted follower of Jesus. She loved her minister, Mark Gaw and deacon, Mike Stubblefeild. A special thank you to Sue’s wonderful caregivers which words cannot adequately express, Pearl Smith, DeAnne Kennedy, Shelby Kirby and Milly Edwards. We honor Sue’s devoted friends, Linda Crider, Valerie Massey, Susan Melton, Becky Carwile. Linda Cumby, and Etta Mott for their steadfast love and support. Sue was preceded in death by her parents Brintz and Annie Maynard; brother Guy Edward Maynard; sister-in-law Eva Lou Maynard, and nephew David Maynard. She is survived by her son Keith (Raye Ann) Simmons, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was loved and will be missed.

Funeral Services for Tommy Vaughn Winnett, age 52 of Sparta, will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May17, 2023, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Jimmy Jack Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. He passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at his home. He was a man with many skills who could do and fix almost anything. He was a kind and generous man who would drop everything to help as many people as possible. Tommy loved fishing, music, food, and above all, his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Becky Winnett; parents, Tom and Gladys Winnett; Linda Dunn-Winnett; and daughter, Anna Marie Winnett. Survivors include: Son- Michael Winnett of Sparta; Daughter- Amber Sims (Jerrod) of McMinnville; Brother- Chris Randolph (Lisa) of Sparta; Sister- Misty Bell (John) of Memphis; Grandchildren- Michael Williams, Haley Sims, Samantha Sims, and Justin Sims; Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mr. Fred Dean Houser Sr, 79 of Livingston, will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 1 PM from the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Overton Co. Memorial Gardens. Officiating the service will be his grandson Derek Houser. Fred was born on Saturday August 28th 1943 in Hoopeston, Vermillion Co., Illinois, to the late Roy and Grace (Obenland) Houser. Fred loved his family and friends more than anything. He enjoyed fishing, dirt track races (#B97), Auctions and being outdoors. He was a die-hard Chevy man, who spent 25 years with General motors, retiring to Tennessee. He had a great love of German Shepards, In his free time you could catch him on a river bank with his dog. Survivors include: 1 daughter, Tina and James Qualls of Brydstown, TN; 1 Son, Butch and Violet Houser of Rickman, TN. 23 Grandchildren and 38 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life of 56 years, Ruth Virginia Houser; 1 son John Houser, twins Melissa and Johnny Houser, 1 Granddaughter Kami Houser, 2 Great grandchildren, 1 brother, 3 sisters, several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 17 from 11 AM until service time at 1 PM.

A Celebration of Life for Monika Sue Bowman, 74 of Cookeville, will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday May 17 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Dwight Henry will officiate. She passed away on Sunday May 14, 2023, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born on October 1, 1948, in Knoxville, Monika was a thoughtful and caring woman who touched the lives of many throughout her 74 years. She was the beloved wife of Henry Bowman, whom she married on July 24, 1971, in Knoxville. The couple shared 51 years of love, laughter, and adventure. Monika is survived by her brother, Gary Smith of Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Buford Smith and Katie Drehmel Smith, and her brother, Ralph Smith. A proud Tennessean, Monika graduated from Young High School in Knoxville before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee. She later completed her education with a Master of Science degree in Guidance and Counseling from Tennessee Tech University. Monika dedicated 36 years of her life to helping others through her work at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, where she served as the social services coordinator. Throughout her career, she served several committees and teams which further enhanced the medical center’s service. Monika served on the Ethics Committee, and which focused on ensuring that the highest standards of ethical conduct were upheld. Monika was also instrumental in creating of the Women’s Center, which recognizing the unique healthcare needs of women and focuses on comprehensive care to meet those needs. Her passion for helping others extended beyond her professional life, as she also served on various community organizations including most recently serving on the board of the Upper Cumberland Broadcast Council. Travel was one of Monika’s greatest joys, and she was fortunate to explore 42 states and four countries throughout her lifetime. Her adventurous spirit and love for new experiences created lasting memories for her and her husband. Monika will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and adventure will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life. Her family will welcome friends Wednesday from 4 p.m. until time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cookeville Regional Medical Center Foundation, Monika and Henry Bowman Tennessee Tech Women’s Basketball Scholarship Endowment, or Henry and Monika Bowman Endowed Scholarship at Austin Peay University.

Graveside Memorial Services for Jimmy Hotsinpiller, age 65, of Cookeville, will be conducted on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 3:00 PM at the Mayland Cemetery. Mr. Hotsinpiller was born on Friday, July 12, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Joseph Jr. and Reba Christine Phillips Hotsinpiller. Mr. Hotsinpiller passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Hotsinpiller was a truck driver. He is survived by daughter, Robin Hotsinpiller of Cookeville; son, Daniel Hotsinpiller of Cookeville; grandchildren, Charlie and Nevaeh Baker; sisters, Kathy Garland of Pinckney, MI, Janet (Ray) Simpson of Cookeville; brother, Joseph N. Hotsinpiller of Sparta. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vivian Jackson; brothers, Richard Hotsinpiller, James Hotsinpiller, and infant brother, John Hotsinpiller. The family will receive friends at Mayland Cemetery for Graveside Memorial Services.

Graveside services for Bonnie Jean Rivera, age 76 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023 beginning at 10:00 am at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville. Inurnment will follow at the cemetery. She passed from this life Saturday, April 29, 2023, Born Sunday, May 26, 1946 in Compton, California , she was the daughter of the late Robert Lazalier and the late Jean Bartlett Sisler. Bonnie is survived by: 3 children: Renee Claborn Bennett and husband, Chip, Darrin Rich and wife, Jennifer; 2 step children, Trent and Rebekah) Jesse Rich and wife, Pam; 2 grandchildren, Ellen Rich and Taylor Claborn; 1 sister: Caroline Humphrey; 1 sister in law, Melody Lazalier; And several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Bobby “BOB” Joe Harlow, 86 of Cookeville, will be Friday, June 2 at 1 PM at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home with military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard. Pastor Tom Strong will officiate. He was born October 21, 1936 in Mount Pleasant, TN to the late Joe Norman and Gladys Marie Curtis Harlow. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Kathleen “Kay” Francis Wood Long Harlow on November 4, 2014; a daughter, Julie Lynn Harlow; son, Michael Ray Harlow; siblings, Charles R. Harlow, Norman Carl Harlow, William E. Harlow, Barry Dale Harlow, Betty Jean Nance, Dorothy Porter and Linda Gale Harlow. Bob was a US Navy veteran serving from 1955 to 1959. He retired from the City of San Miguel, California as a fireman. He was a member of Gideons International. Bob had been a member of Bear Cove Baptist Church and later at Hamptons Crossroads Baptist Church. Survivors include a brother Larry Harlow of Crestview, Florida. The family will receive friends Friday after 11 AM until service time at the funeral home.

A memorial service for Kaleen Emlee Fahrner, 72 of Cookeville, will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Presley Funeral Home with the Eddy Turner officiating. She died on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at home surrounded by loved ones. Born Monday, June 5, 1950 in Bay City, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late William Ervin LeMere and the late Catherine Bowden LeMere. She was the wife of Ronald Fahrner. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Presley Funeral Home.
