A celebration of life service for David Lynn Hall, age 82 of Allons, will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 at 7:00 PM from Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Tim Hamilton officiating. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away Monday, December 11, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born February 9, 1941 in Louisa, KY to Luther Lee Hall and Dolly (Sammons) Hall. He attended Freewill Baptist Church and was a former employee with General Motors. David is survived by wife: Donna Rae (Craft) Hall; (5) daughters: Kathy Ward and Husband: Bobby, Cynthia Hall, Shay Oakley, Cheryl Hall and Cindy Storie and Husband: Jonathan; (1) son: Terry Miller; (15) grandchildren and (10) great-grandchildren. Also survived by other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Luther and Dolly Hall; (7) siblings; Son-In-Law: Rick Oakley. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Funeral services Joe Stanley Judd, 83 of Doyle, will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11am at Greenwood Baptist Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery with full military honors provided by The Veterans’ Honor Guard. He passed away in Sterling, Illinois at the age of 83 on December 2, 2023. He was born on March 27, 1940 to John Harvey and Lota Elaine Jones Judd. Joe was born and raised in Doyle, and moved to Illinois in 1959. He prided himself on being a hard worker his entire life. As a young boy, Joe started working in the family lumber industry. He then worked for Northwestern Steel and Wire (The Mill) for 33 years. After retiring from “The Mill” Joe worked for Transport America for eight years, driving semi all over North America. Joe served in the United States Army from 1964 until 1966 and was an aircraft mechanic and helicopter door gunner, while serving in Vietnam. He was very proud of his service to his country. Joe loved Johnny Cash and would often sing his tunes, some even said he sounded just like him. He was a caring and compassionate man, who was known to make friends with anyone he met. He could also do anything, from auto body work on cars, mechanical work, woodworking, plumbing, electrical and construction work. Joe was not a man to take life sitting down. One of his greatest joys was being an avid runner and he lived by the motto, “When I Run I Fly, When I Fly My Soul Is Free, To Be Free I Run.” He was proud of his 43,000 logged running miles. Joe was proud of his Southern heritage and loved to be known to his family as, “Pa Judd.” Joe was a Christian man of great faith and he was dedicated to his church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John William Judd Sr., his sisters Dorothy Ruth Judd McDonald and Betty Jean Judd and his former wife Lynda Lee (Judd) Carlson. He is survived by his children: Teresa (Brian) Kikuts, Jo Lynne (Dennis) Hartz, Troy (Kristin) Judd, Jennifer (Ben) Gutshall and Jessica (Amber Briddick) Judd; grandchildren Aaron Judd, Tyler Gibson, Hailey Gibson, Jacob Cady, Alex Cady, Josie Cady, Lynzie Cady, Brady Hartz, Harper Judd, Connor Judd, Greyson Judd, Finleigh Judd, Deacon Gutshall and Kipton Gutshall; great-grandchild Addilyn Riley; step-children Robbie Watkins, Kerry Leuzinger and Kim Jensen; and sister-in-law Jeanne Judd. The family will receive friends on December 16, 2023 from 10am to 11am at Greenwood Baptist Church in Doyle. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to Greenwood Baptist Church and a veteran’s organization of the family’s choice.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Sharon Angela “Pixie” Garrett, age 61 of Livingston, will be conducted 12 noon Saturday, December 16th from the Chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Rev. James Shenko will officiate. Burial will be in the White Cemetery. Mrs. Garrett passed from this life on Wednesday morning, December 13th from her residence. She was born in Overton County on August 21, 1962 to the late Olene and Glen Ledbetter. Pixie loved spending time with her family and tending to her dogs. She always enjoyed her work in the store. Mrs. Garrett leaves behind her loving husband Michael Garrett of Livingston; daughters Casey Sizemore and husband Mark Carr of Livingston, Rachel Deltino and husband Christian of Clermont, Florida, and Megan Gulbrandsen and husband Ryan of Chico, California; son Jody Abbott and Sarah Flowers of Livingston; numerous grandchildren; one step great granddaughter; brothers Johnny Ledbetter and wife Lisa of Alpine and Kenny Ledbetter of Hilham; sister Glenda Vaught and husband Phil of Anderson, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by her brother Robert Ledbetter and sister-in-law Sheila Ledbetter. The family will welcome friends on Friday from 5 until 8 PM at Speck Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Joan Elizabeth Zehring, age 73 of Sparta, will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 12:00 pm in the Dyer chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Chaplain Erik Cremeans will officiate. Interment will follow in Barnes Cemetery in Overton County. Mrs. Zehring died Monday December 11, 2023 at her daughter’s home with Gentiva Hospice. She was born March 16, 1950 in Sparta, to the late Willard Edgar Conner and Mildred Pauline Smith Conner. She was a graduate of Putnam County Senior High. Joan was employed as a factory worker and later as a baker at Ralph’s Donuts in Cookeville. She enjoyed baking delicious bread, muffins and cakes. She enjoyed visiting thrift stores and flea markers for home decor and crafting. She also enjoyed reading, dancing and traveling as was fortunate to visit 48 states in the USA. She was very much a loving and caring person. In addition to her parents was preceded in death by a son, Kelly Lynn; brother, Joseph Conner; sister, Joey Mansell; and by an infant brother and sister, Jerry Conner and Janice Lou Conner. Joan is survived by her husband of 20 years, Robert R. Zehring; a daughter, Shelley (Raj) Kumar,of Cookeville; sisters, Jannie Lynn,of Cookeville and Janice Watson,of Rickman; granddaughters, Kari Lynn (Dakota) Cross and Harley (Jeremiah) Stockton, all of Cookeville; greatgrandchildren, Ravyn, Acelyn , Zaylee and Braxton Stockton and Marley Cross; and by nieces and nephews including Sherry and Terry Mansell. She is also survived by a stepson Craig Zehring, of Alexandria, Va and sister in law Betty Lyons, of Timberville VA. Her family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home. A graveside service for Betty Maurine Harris, 80 of Cookeville,will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the Smellage Memory Garden Cemetery in Silver Point. She passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, surrounded by her family. Born Tuesday, April 20, 1943 in Cookeville, she was the daughter of the late Shelah Braswell and the late Maurine Johnson Braswell. She was the loving wife of Jimmy Harris for 58 blessed years. Betty was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to a very loving family. She was always friendly and constantly mentioning kind words to all. Betty was a Christian woman and worshipped at Steven’s Street Baptist Church, as a charter member since childhood and married there as well. She worked for the State of Tennessee Department of Safety and retiring in 1999 with over 34 years service. When Betty wasn’t with her family, she enjoyed solving crossword and sudoku puzzles. Whenever there was a gathering, Betty was asked to bring her famous ‘best” chocolate pie. She was even known to make her brownies only for her son, Brent. She is survived by husband Jimmy; son Brent (Heather) Harris of Hendersonville; daughter Angela (Michael) Campbell of Bloomington Springs; grandchildren Shelby (Brian) Bennett, Corey Campbell, Tyler Harris, Preston Harris; great-grandchildren Camden and Eli Bennett; brother Paul (Bettie) Braswell; brother-in-law George Inglis. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings.

Funeral services for Melba Jean Maxwell, age 88, of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday, December 16 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Dr. Charles McCaskey will officiate. She passed away on December 10, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born on October 16, 1935 in Knoxville, she was the daughter of the late Viness Walter Lacey II and Idell Edith Wagers Lacey. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, former Army wife, and graduate of Tennessee Technological University, she was a retired educator, spending most of her career at Park View Elementary School in Cookeville and teaching for several years at Estill Springs, Tennessee and Atlanta, Georgia. Since a young girl, Melba enjoyed many lively activities including dancing, horseback riding, travel and “walkabouts”, and music. She played piano and Irish tin whistle at home, was an alto in church choirs over the years, and was later a member of the bell choir at her home church in Cookeville. In recent years, her passion for needlework blossomed among dear friends in a local knitting group. Melba attended Cookeville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was full of life, strength, love and faith. Beloved by many, she will be sorely missed. May she rest in peace and rise in glory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, K. D. (Kay D.) Maxwell; grandson, Joshua Adam Maxwell; son, Kenneth Daniel Maxwell; brothers, Viness Walter (V. W.) Lacey III, Barry Leigh Lacey and Leon Edward Lacey; sister, Patricia Ann Lacey and step-brother, Benjamin Franklin Preacher, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Dennis Lee (Connie) Maxwell of Baxter, and David Robert (Margaret) Maxwell of Cookeville; daughter, Diana Kay Maxwell (L. Peyton) Adams of Madisonville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Jessica, Jackson, Jesse, Bradley, Boston, Brandon and Brent Maxwell; great-grandson, Daniel Hunter Maxwell; expected great-granddaughter (Boston and wife Mary) due in April 2024; great-great grandson Averick Hunter Maxwell; sisters, Janice K. (Cleo) Butler, Jennifer Lynn (Bill) Stevenson and Nora Jean Justice; step-sister, Glenda Carole Preacher and brothers, Christopher Boone (Pam) Lacey and Theodore Melton Lacey. Celebration of Life Services for Gill Medley, age 58, of Monterey, will be conducted on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 1:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Mr. Medley was born on Saturday, July 17, 1965, in Monterey, to the late Larry Gill Medley Sr. and Barbara Scroggins Medley. Mr. Medley passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at his home. Mr. Medley was an electrician working formerly with ATC Automation Tool in Cookeville. He was a Monterey High School Graduate Class of 1983 and studied at Roane State Community College and IU Indianapolis. He was Baptist in faith. He is survived by, 1 son, Jeremy Medley of Anderson, IN; and 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Michael Anthony Medley of Monterey, Jonathan and Tara Medley of Monterey. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home on Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 11:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Nancy Ganada Dishman, age 82, of Livingston will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2023, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Bro. Jeremy Bilbrey will officiate. Burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Nancy passed from this life on Tuesday evening, December 12, 2023, from the Livingston Regional Medical Center. She was born in Overton County, Tennessee on April 5, 1941, to the late Dallas and Carrie Bowman Hassler. She worked as a CNA for many years. Nancy was a member of the Hilham Church of God, where she enjoyed attending. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and extended family. Nancy also loved joking, talking on the telephone and traveling. Nancy leaves behind her daughter, Carol Baker of Livingston; grandchildren, Michael Baker of Livingston, Rachael Baker and Alex Mundo of Buford, GA, and Savannah Askew and husband Eric of Schertz, TX; great-grandchildren, Michael Baker, Dustin Gingerich, Kadence Gingerich, Simon Gingerich, and Aiden Mundo; sisters, Brenda Bilbrey and husband Paul of Love Joy, TN, Peggy Blaylock and husband Ridley of Monterey, and Marilyn Murphy of Love Joy, TN; a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends; special nieces, Linda DeBord, Brenda Qualls, and Penny Peek; special nephews, Larry Bilbrey, and Hoyt Padgett. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Dishman, and brothers, David, Bill, and Doug Hassler. The family will welcome friends on Saturday morning, from 10 a.m. until time of services at the Livingston Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. William Luther Worrix, age 82 of Sparta, a native of Pikeville, Kentucky, will be conducted 4:00pm Saturday, December 16, 2023 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with military honors by the Veterans’ Honor Guard. He passed away Wednesday evening, December 13, 2023 at St. Thomas Highlands Hospital. Burial will be in Worrix Family Cemetery in Pikeville, Kentucky under the direction of Community Funeral Home. Bill as he was known to some and Luther as he was known to others was born December 24, 1940 in Pikeville, Kentucky. Bill was the last surviving child of the 17 born to the late George Alex and Darkis Sloan Worrix. He was a former coal miner and retired from International Harvester. Bill was a master woodworker and enjoyed making furniture. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Survivors include his wife Jerlina Worrix of Sparta; Daughter: Lajeana Sue Howard and husband Bron of Sparta; Son: William Jeffery Worrix and wife Teresa of Whitwell, TN; Grandchildren: William Justin Worrix and wife Sara, Sierra Dawn Adkins and husband Ian, Preston Alex Worrix; Great-grandchildren: Jimi Waylon Worrix and Aria Jade Worrix. The family will receive friends after 2:00pm Saturday at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Barbara Ann Heady Scott age 81 of Baxter, will be conducted at 1 pm on Sunday, December 17, 2023 in the Chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Bybee officiating. Burial will follow in Byers Cemetery. She passed away from this life and entered her heavenly home on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Barbara was born on January 29, 1942 in Jackson County, to the late Clarence and Hazel Mahaney Heady. She was a retired factory worker and substitute teacher. She was a faithful christian and servant to the lord, a former member of the Free State Church of Christ and member of the Center Grove Church of Christ. She was loved by her family and friends and was known by many as “Tiny”. She enjoyed spending time with her family, doing bible trivia and volunteering at her church. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husbands, Damon Loftis and Mitchell Scott, daughter and son-in-law, Freda (Bill) Maxwell, three brothers, Clarence Jr. “Preacher” (Betty) Heady, Eddie “Bully” Heady, Sam (Judy) Heady; three sisters Dorothy (Junior) Rush, Lucille (Carl) Fox, Mabel (Junior) Smith; sister-in-law, Clella Heady and step son-in-law, Ben Leonard. Survivors include daughter, Donna (Jeff) Mathis of Baxter; son, Terry Loftis of Atlanta, GA; two step-daughters, Sherry (Walter) Arms of Carthage and Michelle Leonard of Pleasant Shade; two brothers, Kenneth Heady of Gainesboro, and Mark (Karol) Heady of Pueblo, CO. Five grandchildren, Holly Chaffin (Trent Snider), Justin Loftis, Zachary (Ashley) Brazle, Tyler (Lindsey) Loftis, Trent (Nicole) Maxwell; three step-granddaughters, Anna Brooke and Natalie Leonard and Jada Arms. Twelve great grandchildren, Dillon, Bailey, Libby, Finley, Aubree, Sutton, Bristol, Reagan, Abby, Trey, Keira and Aiden. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends also survive. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 16, 2023 4-8 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home and again on Sunday, 11 am to 1 pm.

Funeral services for Mr. Earl Keith Alred, age 80 of Cookeville, will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Keith died Thursday December 14, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. His family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Monday from 9:00 am until service time at Washington Ave. Baptist Church.

Funeral Services for Ina Bea Sliger, age 91, of Cookeville, will be held on Monday December 18, 2023, at 2:00P.M. from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Bro. Dwight Henry will officiate at the service, and family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. The burial will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. Ina Bea Sliger was born on October 28, 1932, in Putnam County and passed away at her residence in Putnam County on December 13, 2023. She is survived by; 2 daughters and a son in-law, Donna Robins (Randy) and Gail Jones; 3 Grandsons, Justin Reznik, Steven Jones and Shane Robinson; 2 great grandchildren, Emma Jones and Kayla Jones. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00P.M. until time of services at 2:00P.M.

A memorial visitation gathering for Mr. William “Rodney” Jarvis, age 75 of Cookeville, will be held Monday, December 18th from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. He died Tuesday December 12, 2023 at his residence. He was born November 6, 1948 in Harlan, KY to the late William “Bill” Raleigh Jarvis and Dorothy Mae Asher Jarvis. Rodney had a strong work ethic throughout his life. He worked in coal mines in Middlesboro, KY from 1964 until 1991. He was also a farmer and lived out his dream of being a cowboy by participating in rodeos. He and wife Doris moved to Cookeville in 1991. He opened Lighthouse Auto in 1997 and worked along with his son until his retirement in 2015. He had a special and loving relationship with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris Fay Rouse Jarvis; son, William Richard “Rick” Jarvis and wife Holly Jarvis; daughter, Mary Suzanne Jarvis, all of Cookeville; brother, Verlis Eugene Jarvis and wife Sue; and by grandchildren, Olivia Rose Jarvis and husband Caleb Cloud, William Rexton Jarvis, Oliva Ann Turbeville and Bret Lee Turbeville.

A celebration of life for Marine Bumbalough, age 83, of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 3pm in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta. She passed away on November 4, 2023, in Apopka, Florida. She was born on February 14, 1940. Marine was a brilliant homemaker, devoted wife of 59 years to Terry Bumbalough, loving mother of two children, grandmother (Emma) to five grandchildren and blessed by many great friendships. Marine was an artist, known for her talent in painting. She started her artistic journey when her husband went to Vietnam, and she began creating beautiful paintings. Over time, her passion evolved into craft books, and collectible dolls that were cherished by collectors across America. She created art pieces under the label ‘Sweet Expressions’, referencing lyrics from the hymn ‘Sweet, Sweet Spirit’ by Doris Mae Akers, and for the doll’s unique hand painted faces that highlight the individual qualities of all God’s people. Marine is survived by her loving husband, Terry Bumbalough, her sister Hellan (Teen) Shown, her son Randy Bumbalough, and five grandsons: Whitten, Alex and Rhye Bumbalough, and Parker and Chase Robinson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marci Robinson, her parents, Orley and Dorothy Maynard, and her sisters, Barbara Thomas, and Mable Willoughby. A visitation will be held from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Marine Bumbalough.
