Obituaries For Monday, March 8

Marie Elaine Boyce, 71 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, March 6 at her home surrounded by family. Marie was a loving daughter, sister, mother, nanny, grandma, and friend. She was of the Baptist faith, she loved to travel, go hiking, and get out in nature. Marie was loved by all that knew her and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by daughter, Michelle Greenwalt. Marie chose cremation, the family followed her wishes, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Joseph Marion Zawadzki, age 74 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, March 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Father Christiano Nunez will officiate. Interment will follow in West Chapel Cemetery in the Fairview community. Mr. Zawadzki died Saturday, March 6 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Joe worked as a master mechanic with General Motors for 35 years. He was a car enthusiast and spending time restoring and rebuilding his favorite models. He also enjoyed drag strip racing. Joe had a sharp wit and possessed a wonderful sense of humor. He was laid back, kind and saw the best in others. He was devoted to his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Zawadzki is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dolores Joan Arena Zawadzki; son, Joseph Michael (Tania) Zawadzki; and daughter, Alice Louise (Robert) Spike. His family will receive friends Tuesday morning, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Bobby Glenn Wilson, age 71 of Sparta, will be Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 11 am at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Smith and Bro. Sam Davis officiating, burial will follow at Frasier’s Chapel Cemetery. He passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 at his residence. He was born on May 3, 1949 in Sparta, TN. He was the son of the late Joe and Arlene Wilson. Bobby loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include: Wife of 51 years, Diana Sue Wilson; Sons Micheal Wilson (Sabrina) and Derek Wilson (Meagan) all of Sparta. The family will receive friends on Monday March 8, 2021 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home from 4 PM to 8 PM. Pall Bearers: Johnny Russell, Jack Sherrell, Mark Burton, Jason Sparks, Joe Bob Kirby, Derrek Parrish, and Traeson Usie.

Graveside services for Betty J. Flatt, 78 of Cookeville, will be held on Tuesday, March 9 at 1 P.M. at the Young Cemetery on Seven Knobs Road in Jackson County. She was married to the late Paul Flatt, who passed away in 2003. She worked as an inspector at C & M Clothing for 27 years. She was a member of the College Side Church of Christ and Center Grove Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters, Tenna K. Flatt, Trena Renay Greenwood, and Tammy Faye Davis, all of Cookeville. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home.

Graveside services for Mrs. Alexis Rain Moon Williams, age 30 of Cookeville, will be conducted 1:00pm Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Highland Cemetery. She passed away at 5:36am Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at her residence. Alexis was born June 18, 1990 in Sparta, Tennessee. She was a homemaker to her husband and three children. She dedicated her life to raising her three wonderful children. Survivors include her husband Brandon M. Williams of Cookeville, Children: Tempy Jordan, Abby Williams and Aiden Williams, Mother and stepfather: Angela and Earl Thompson of Cookeville, Father: Ray Moon, Sr. of Sparta. Ray Moon, Cody Moon, Earl Thompson, Bryce Whiteaker and Chris Davis will serve the family as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Monday from 4-7:00pm and Tuesday after 12:00pm until departure for the cemetery at 12:45pm at Hunter Funeral Homne. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hunter Funeral Home, PO Box 90, Sparta, TN 38583 to help the Williams Family with funeral expenses

Funeral services for Sibbie Haney Smith, age 86 of Jackson County, will begin Tuesday at 1 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery. Sibbie Haney Smith was born on July 5, 1934 in Putnam County, TN and she passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN at the age of 86. She was the daughter to Melvin Ventson (Vent) Haney and Novan Wilmoth Haney. She was a retired dispatcher for Twin Lakes Telephone Cooperative Corporation. She was a member of the Gainesboro Church of Christ. Survivors include son, Tommy (Yvonne) Smith of Oak Ridge. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 8, 2021, 11 am to 1 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Ronnie Dunn, 73 of the Rock Castle community of DeKalb County, will be held on Wednesday, March 10 at 11 A.M. at the Ozion Free Will Baptist Church in Baxter. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery on Cookeville Boat Dock Road. Mr. Dunn passed away on Sunday, March 7 at his residence. He was born February 22, 1948, in Baxter, to the late Isaac Louis Dunn and Mary Lou Dunn. On February 22, 1968, he was married to Freda Sue Allen Dunn, who survives. He was a business owner, farmer, builder, and craftsman. He also attended the Dodson Branch Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Freda Sue Allen Dunn; Son, Ronnie Dunn and wife, Amber; Daughter, Angela Billings and husband, Jackie. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and at the church on Wednesday from 9 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral services for Mr. Lee Roy Burks, age 83 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday, March 10 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 3:00pm in Turkey Town Cemetery in Clay County. Mr. Burks passed away Sunday, March 7 at his residence. After his service in the United States Navy, Lee Roy began a long, varied business career -ranging from a Time Keeper for Sparta Spoke Factory in the early years to a 47-year-career in Insurance. Along the way, he was an avid moonshine distributor and owned Burks Amusement Company, where he supplied arcade games, pool tables, and pinball machines all over the Upper Cumberland. Surviving family members include his daughters, Darlene Goodwin and husband Gary, Heather Hayes and husband Jerry; and his sons, Mike Burks and Kevin Burks. The family will receive friends after 11:00am Wednesday at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Jonah Jack (Jacky) Fox, age 64 of McMinnville, formerly of Jackson County, will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in the Chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Byers Cemetery. Fox was born January 20, 1957 in Jackson County, TN and he passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro at the age of 64. He was the son of Carl Mitchell Fox, Sr. and Thelma Lucille Heady Fox. He was an maintenance technician and a member of the New Voice Worship Center in McMinnville. Survivors include his wife, Pamela Hankins Fox of McMinnville, sons, Jackie Dewayne Fox of McMinnville and James Mitchell Fox of Cookeville; step-son, Heath Lane Girod of Kingsport; step-daughter, Heather Nicole Girod of McMinnville. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 4-8 pm and Wednesday from 10 am to 1 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.
