Obituaries For Monday, July 27

William M. Stevens Sr., 88 of Sparta, Tennessee passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020, at his residence. He was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Stevens of Franklin, NJ. William is survived by his wife, Marjorie Wearne Stevens, whom he adored for 69 years, and his son, William M. Stevens and Debbie Johnson. William enjoyed being retired from the New Jersey Power and Light Company where he was employed for 42 years. He was also discharged from the United States Army. He loved gardening and traveling. William will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The family has chosen cremation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Funeral services for Mr. Donald Cee Hayes, Sr., age 68 of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, July 28th at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Algood. Interment will follow in Algood Heritage Cemetery. Rev. Diantha McCleod, Pastor Sterl Paramore and Minister Floyd Searcy will officiate. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be in place. Mr. Hayes died Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born September 28, 1951 in Algood, TN to the late James Arthur “Gabby” Hayes, Jr. and Carrie Mai Peek Hayes. Mr. Hayes attended the former Swallows Elementary School in Algood, and Algood High School where he enjoyed playing on the basketball team. He worked 30 plus years at Tennessee Tech University where he was a Supervisor in the cafeteria and later retired on March 25, 2003. Donald enjoyed working on cars, mowing lawns and fishing. His family includes a soulmate of 42 years, Wanda Kaye Manis; five sons and two daughters in law, Donald and Emily Hayes, Jr., Calvin Hayes, Jerry Michael and Heather Hayes, Keith Hayes all of Cookeville, and Wesley Goolsby of AZ; two daughters and a son in law, Donna and Floyd Searcy of Lebanon and Amanda Hayes of Sparta.

Funeral services for Allorah Day Turney, age 16 months of Sparta, will be held Tuesday at 4pm at West Sparta Church of Christ. Internment will take place at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11am-4pm at West Sparta Church of Christ. If you would like to make donations, please do so at ONE BANK to Allorah’s Box.

A Celebration of Life for Anna Marie Dixon, age 79 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2020, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Life Church of Livingston. Mrs. Dixon passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Anna was a loving daughter, sister, wife, Mom, Grandma, and friend. She was quiet, easy-going, and very loving. She was often seen sitting on the porch with the grandkids watching the ducks overlooking the water. Anna is survived by, Husband, Sid Dixon; 4 Children, Kim and Greg Waymaster, Mark and Nancy Dixon, Cora Dixon, and John and Hannah Dixon.

Funeral Service for James “Al” Middlebrook, age 92 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, July 30 at 3:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Dr. Ronnie Pierce officiating. Mr. Middlebrook passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 26 after spending his last days and moments doing exactly what he loved, spending time with his family. Al was the loving father of, and is survived by, his children: Larry Middlebrook, Robin (Michael) Bostic, Steve (Cindy) Middlebrook, Missy Smith, and Ron Middlebrook. Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, July 29 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again, Thursday, July 30 from 1:00 pm until time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Judith “Judy” Ann Augustson, 80 of Cookeville, will be Saturday, August 1 at 7 PM at the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Bro. Larry Pedigo will officiate. Mrs. Augustson died Saturday, July 24, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Judy was a retired Electronic Technician with Laser Alignment, INC. in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed cross stitch, stained glass, working in her flowers and garden and her cat, Miss T. She taught line dancing at the Algood Senior Citizens. Survivors include son, Erik Augustson of Algood; daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa (Mike) Thurlow of Cookeville and Kristen (Rick) Kelly of Granville, Michigan. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 PM until service time. Due COVID-19 social distancing will be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to Feed America First, 1715 S. Rutherford Blvd., Suite K #257, Murfreesboro, TN 37130.
