Obituaries For Monday, July 15

Mr. Kevin Dale Wissel, age 55 of Cookeville, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at his residence. He was born on April 12, 1964 in Indianapolis, IN to Joe & Judy (Jones) Wissel. Kevin worked as an Over The Road Truck Driver in the Trucking Industry. Mr. Wissel will be cremated, and no services are planned.

Mary Jane Fliss, age 75 of Crawford, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at her residence. She was born on March 11, 1944 in Lapeer, Michigan. Mrs. Fliss will be cremated. No Services are planned.

Funeral services for Mr. Dallas Hunter Melton age 94 of Algood, will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 10:30 AM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Fellowship Cemetery. Mr. Melton passed away from this life on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the Signature Health and Rehab. Mr. Melton was born in the Willow Grove Community of Allons on September 14, 1924 to the late Gilbert and Maude (Dulworth) Melton. Dallas served in WWII for 3 ½ years in the Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Hornet. He worked on helping build the Dale Hollow Dam shortly after that he started working for the International Construction Company, Morrison Knudson, MKC Inc. He worked for them in several foreign countries including 4 jobs in different areas in New Zealand. MKC also build a railway across the entire country of Australia where Dallas worked as camp manager. He also worked in Iran 4 years and was fortunate to get out of the country after the Government was overthrown and the employees at the American Embassy were taken hostage. His final job was in New Guinea where he contracted Malaria. After returning he made a huge garden every year and took great pride in the harvest. Survivors: Wife of 70 years: Mary Pauline (White) Melton; 2 Daughters: Marjorie Whidby and Beverly Moody; 4 Grandchildren: Kimberly Byers, Jennifer (Jacob) Kutz, Jason Melton , Jonathan (Jennifer) Moody; 4 Great Grandchildren: Jared Moody, Emily Moody, Isaac Byers, Skylar Melton; 2 Great-Great Grandchildren: Kylie and Owen Melton; 2 Sisters: Bernice Martin, Jean Alyne Collins. Preceded in death: In addition to his parents: 2 Brothers: Fred Melton and Champ Melton; 2 Sisters: Norma Jean Melton and Inez Bilbrey. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, July 15th starting at 5 PM until 8 PM.

Funeral Services For Patricia “Pat” Phillips Norrod, Age 71, Of Hanging Limb, Tennessee, Will Be Conducted On Tuesday, July 16, 2019, At 12:00 Noon From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. J.B. Harris And Pastor Steve Looper Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The George M. Phillips Cemetery. Ms. Norrod Was Born On September 6, 1947, In Crawford, Tennessee, To The Late William Howell And Norma Jean Norrod Phillips. Ms. Norrod Passed Away On Saturday, July 13, 2019, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Ms. Norrod Was A Bookkeeper And Had Worked With Goodyear In Livingston. She Was A Member Of Hanging Limb Missionary Baptist Church, Where She Served As Treasurer And Secretary For Over 30 Years. She Is Survived By Her Daughter And Son-In-Law, Navona And Stacy Phillips Of Hanging Limb, TN; Grandchildren, Rachel (And Kenny Joe) Walker, Jayden And Elijah Phillips; And Sister-In-Law, Beverly Phillips Of Hanging Limb, TN. In Addition To Her Parents, She Was Preceded In Death By Her Husband, Charles Ray Norrod; Brother, Billy Phillips; And Sister-In-Law, Peggy Norrod. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Monday, July 15, 2019, From 5:00 PM Until 8:00 PM.

A Celebration of life service for Ms. Deborah ‘Debbie’ Ruth West, 67 of Algood, will be held Wednesday, July 17th at 1:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Elder James Darty will officiate. Her family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Debbie passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born August 16, 1951 in Cookeville to the late William Clearance and Mary Bartlett West. She was a graduate of Cookeville High School and attended Tennessee Tech University. She lived in Detroit, Atlanta, Texas and Nashville before returning home in 2007. Debbie was friendly and outgoing. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining and was eager to help others. She was an animal lover, especially her dogs. She attended Living Hope Church in Cookeville.

A Memorial Service for Lawrence “Larry” Irvine MacIntosh, 80 of Sparta, will be held at 3pm on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sparta with James Ferraro and Rodney Shewmake officiating. Larry passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at his home. He was born Sunday, May 28, 1939. He loved Jehovah, nature, music, friends, and family. Survivors include: Wife- Carol MacIntosh of Sparta; Son- Lance MacIntosh (Sarah) of New York; Daughter- Leigh Brace (Bill) of New York; Granddaughter- Emaleigh Brace of New York; Sister- Helen White (Jerry) of New York; Step-Son- Edward Gabrielle (Debra) of Sparta; Step-Daughter- Anna Gernt (Art) of Florida; Step-Son- Anthony Gabrielle of Sparta; Step-Son- Marvin Blodgett (Christy) of Crossville; Step-Grandchildren- Zoe, Eden, Lisa, Sara, Richard, David, Elyssa, Dean, Raylin, and Alexis.
