Obituaries For Monday, February 8

Mr. Allan Fowler, age 74 of Cookeville died Saturday afternoon February 6, 2021 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral services for Herbert (Herb) Mitchell Mills, age 84 of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday February 9 at Stevens Street Baptist Church. Interment with military honors will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Please practice social distancing and the use of masks are encouraged. Herb passed away suddenly Saturday February 6, 2021 at his home. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home and again Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Karen Furrow Dickey, age 72 of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Ramsey Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow at West Cemetery in Cookeville. Mrs. Dickey died Friday, February 5, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born May 5, 1948 in Memphis, TN to Arthur Floyd and Mary Evelyn Thompson Furrow. She resided in Memphis for most of her childhood and then graduated from West Memphis High School. She met her husband, Doug Dickey, in Memphis. She worked as a teller for C&I Bank in Memphis until her first child was born. They married July 16, 1966 and celebrated 54 years of marriage together. They moved to Bristol, VA in 1981 and then moved to Cookeville in 1986. They also lived in Laurinburg, NC and Berlin, OH. When Doug retired, they moved back to Cookeville in 1999. She then worked at Community Bank in Cookeville. Karen loved people and babies. Always interested in others, she never missed an opportunity to tell a complete stranger how beautiful or smart their children were. She enjoyed traveling to the beach or the mountains with her children and grandchildren. One of her favorite verses was Philippians 4:6 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplications, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God.” Her family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home and again Tuesday from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnnie Ann Helms, 77, of Cookeville, Tennessee will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 1 pm in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Jason Groe will officiate. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Ann died suddenly on Friday evening, February 5, 2021 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Helms was born June 12,1943 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late John Henry & the late Neta Pearl Ford. She grew up in the north Cookeville area with her siblings the late Jimmy Ford & Jerry Ford. She was always known for her passion for education & learning. In 1961, she graduated from Central High School in Cookeville. Ann completed her bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Tennessee Technological University in 1964 & earned her master’s degree from TTU in 1975. Ann’s passion was teaching children. She loved nothing more than encouraging & fostering a love for learning amongst her students. She taught 4th grade at Park View Elementary School for 40 years touching the lives of over a thousand children throughout her career. Ann first met her husband, Roy, in first grade. Their paths crossed again in high school when they became “sweethearts” their junior year. They married December 20, 1963 & recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. They raised their daughter, Deborah Ann, in Cookeville. Roy & Ann actively spent their time together through the years with Ann cheering him & his team at softball games with their many friends & riding and serving in the Honda Goldwing Motorcycle Club. They actively attended & served at Poplar Grove Baptist Church from the mid 80’s until Ann’s health kept them home. Ann loved the Lord & exhibited Christ’s love in her life through caring for others, her kindness, & humility. Her family will receive friends Monday, February 8, from 4 pm until 7 pm & Tuesday, February 9, from 11 am until service time at 1 pm.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ann J. Houser, age 79 of Livingston, will be held Tuesday, February 9th at 7:00 p.m. at West End Church of Christ in Livingston. Bro. Kerry Duke will officiate. Mrs. Houser passed from this life on February 7 at her home in Overton County. Mrs. Houser loved her family, her church and her country. A homemaker, she spent her life making her house a home to immediate family, extended family, and others who always found themselves welcome in her home. She was born in Overton County and spent her youth in her home county before a summer visit to her sister’s in Michigan led to her meeting her lifelong mate, John Houser and marrying on October 12, 1957. She is survived by a son, Mark Houser; a daughter, Patty (Houser) Smith; and a son-in-law, Tim Smith. Her family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Phyllis Patricia Kilgore Smith, age 86 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday, February 10 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Eastland Cemetery. Mrs. Smith passed away Friday, February 5 at Chattanooga Hospice Care. She was a homemaker and caregiver to her family – always ready to babysit or do whatever had to be done to help. Sundays were reserved for dinner at Nana’s. She was a member of the Church of Christ and attended Pleasant Hill Church of Christ. Survivors include her two daughters, Anita (Thad) Hunter, Linda (Bruce) Richardson. The family will receive friends after 11:00am Wednesday at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral Services For Sharon McNeil, Age 75 Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted On Wednesday, February 10 At 2:00 PM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Christine Penner Will Officiate. Mrs. McNeil Passed Away On Thursday, February 4 At Her Home. Mrs. McNeil Was A Homemaker And Worked In Retail Sales. She Was A Member Of The Lutheran Church In Dearborn, Michigan. She Is Survived By Her Husband Of Almost 50 Years, Ray McNeil Of Monterey; 4 Sons And Daughters-In-Law, Norman And Jennifer Dimeck Of Scottsdale, AZ, Thomas And Maria Dimeck Of Phoenix, AZ, Carl And Dawn Dimeck Of Paris, IL, Raymond III And Audrey McNeil Of Shawboro, NC. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, From 1:00 PM Until Time Of Services At 2:00 PM.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dian Louise Paynter Sherrell, age 77 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Thursday, February 11 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Saylors Cemetery. Mrs. Sherrell passed away early Sunday morning, February 7, 2021 at her residence in the Old Zion Community on the 3-year anniversary of the death of her husband, Glynn Allen Sherrell, who died on February 7, 2018. Dian was a member of the Sault Ste Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians through her mother’s heritage. She was a homemaker to her large family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Kent Sherrell & Karen Rodgers, Karen & Jimmy McCulley, Kelly & Michael Kilgore, Karl & Kim Sherrell, Kandy & Randal Cantrell. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00am until service time at Hunter Funeral Home. Joe England will officiate.

Funeral services for Mildred Imogene Snedecor, age 75 of Cookeville, will be held on Thursday February 11 at 1:00pm from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Bro Ken Haney will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at the Allen’s Chapel Cemetery in Overton County. Mrs. Snedecor passed away on February 6 at her home surrounded by family. Mildred Imogene Snedecor was born on September 7, 1945 in Overton County to the late Osa and Effie Poston Allen. She is survived by her children, Stephanie Snedecor, Darla Snedecor, Christina (Shawn) Snedecor-West, Billy Sells, Ellen Sells, Angel Cook and Ann White. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00am until time of services at 1:00pm.

Celebration Of Life Services For George Vincent Miller, Age 58 Of Cookeville, Will Be Conducted On Saturday, February 13 At 12:00 PM At The Monterey Community Church. Rev. Eddy Way Will Officiate. Mr. Miller Passed Away On Friday, February 5 At The Vanderbilt University Medical Center In Nashville. Vince Worked At Dacco In Cookeville. He Was A Carpenter, A United States Marine Veteran, And Attended Monterey Community Church. In Addition To His Father, He Is Survived By His Wife, Tarina Sitto Miller Of Cookeville; 3 Daughters, Deidre Miller Of Gainesboro, Hannah Miller Of Cookeville, Alexis Miller Of Cookeville, TN; and 1 Son, Zachary Miller Of Cookeville. The Family Will Receive Friends At Monterey Community Church On Saturday, February 13 From 11:00 AM Until Time Of Services At 12:00 PM.

Memorial Service for Sally Nunley Burrows, 85 of Sparta, will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Jeff Guth officiating. She passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born Thursday, November 7, 1935 in Coalmont, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Matt and Nora Rogers Nunley. She was a caregiver for over 20 years. She loved being with people and spending time with her family. Survivors include son- Mike Burrows (Susan) of McMinnville, TN; Daughters- Sherry Rose (Donnie) of Sparta, TN and Jackie Burrows Miller of Sparta, TN. The family will welcome friends on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until time of the service at the funeral home.
