Obituaries For Friday, October 26

Nina Graves Clenney, 80 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Signature Health Care of Putnam County in Algood. Nina chose cremation and the family followed her wishes, and a Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.

Thomas “Bud” Marshall Maynard, 86 of Silver Point, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family. Bud was born Thursday, June 2, 1932 in Putnam County, he was the son of the late Virgle Maynard and the late Jeanette Jernigan Randolph. Bud was always a hard worker until he couldn’t work anymore. He enjoyed farming especially his horses and cows. Bud loved his grandbabies and great grandbabies. Bud is survived by: Wife of 53 years: Ruby (Burgess) Maynard; 3 Daughters: Linda Haugk, Brenda Burgess, Tammy Maynard; 4 Grandchildren: Matthew and Julie Haugk, Spencer and Leah Johnson, Brittney and Corey Mills, and Chelsey and Dustin Stanton; 8 Great Grandchildren; Brother: Richard Maynard; Sister: Mae Massa; Beloved Pet: Gizmo Maynard. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by: Daughter, Phyllis Brewington; 2 Brothers, JV and Carson Maynard; 2 Sisters, Helen Hunter and Faye Lowe. Bud chose cremation, the family followed his wishes and a Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.

Funeral services for Mrs. Berilla Sue Benson Swallows, age 92 of Cookeville will be held Saturday, October 27th at 1:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Brotherton Cemetery. Mrs. Swallows died Wednesday October 24, 2018 at 3:24 a.m. at her home. Her family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Celebration of Life for Jimmy “Jim” Toombs will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Collegeside Church of Christ with Bro. Joe Roberts and Lance Reynolds officiating. Jim passed from this life on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Signature Health Care of Putnam County in Algood. Jim was born Tuesday, April 1, 1941 in Anderson, Indiana, he was the son of the late Perry Edward and Irene (Kellow) Toombs. Jim loved his family and was often times found telling jokes. He was a fun person to be around. Jim is survived by: Wife: Marsha (Snideman) Toombs of Cookeville; 3 Daughters: Vickie and Jim Livingston of Anderson, Indiana, Debi and Lance Reynolds of Gainesboro, Nicole and Aiden Hinkley of Junction City, Kansas; 6 Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Brothers: Jerry and Nancy, Rick and Rixena, and Phil and Linda Toombs of Indiana; Special Friends: Myriam and Carlos Guerra of Miami, Florida. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Donald Leroy Keith, age 85, of Allons will be held Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Cookeville Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mr. Donald Keith passed peacefully from this life on Saturday evening, September 22, 2018 from the Overton County Health & Rehab in Livingston. He was born April 18, 1933 in Harlem, New York to the late Watson & Lois Jackson Keith. Donald served his country during the Korean Conflict, where he served as a Nurse Officer. He would later attend school and become a Nurse Anesthetist. He was a member of Three Angels Seventh-day Adventist Church. Donald loved the Lord, and enjoyed Bible Study, helping others, bird watching, gardening, and playing the piano. He was a amateur photographer and loved his family dearly. Donald leaves his loving wife, Mrs. Harriet Moseley Keith of Allons; daughters, Karmen Keith of Allons, and Lori Fullard & husband Larry of Orangeburg, SC; foster daughter, Sarah Smith & husband Jerome of Grand Rapids, MI; sisters, Jeannette DuBois of New Orleans, LA and Lois Ashburne of Bowie, MD; grandchildren, Larry R. Fullard, Lamar Fullard, and Kyron Hasse; A host of family members, loved ones and friends. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his infant son, Little Donald; sisters, Joan Keith, June Carney-Robinson, and Jacqueline Lewis; foster sister, Jane “Penny” Ingram.

Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Ricky Adams, age 63, of Livingston will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, October 28, 2018 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Mr. Adams passed from this life on October 2, 2018 at his home in Livingston. He was born February 10, 1955 in Louisville, Kentucky to Mable Ramsey Adams and the late Woodson Adams. Ricky was an Iron Worker and Welder and enjoyed fishing. Ricky leaves his wife, April Garcia Adams of Livingston; daughters, Shelly Adams of Orlando, FL and Shari Adams of Orlando, FL; son, Eddie Adams of Orlando, FL, Dwayne Adams of Livingston, and Jared Adams of Livingston; grandchildren, Parker Gurnland, and Connor Vieni; brother, Larry Adams, and Robin “Bo” Adams both of Orlando, FL; mother, Mable Ramsey Adams of Orlando, FL. In addition to his father, Ricky was preceded in death by his sister, Lorretta Adams; brothers, Mitch Ramsey and Jerry Adams. The family will welcome friends on Sunday from 12 noon until time of services at the Livingston Funeral Home.

Rev. Denna Hornby Will Officiate. Mr. Targosz Was Born On March 21, 1951, In Tacoma, Washington, To The Late Tadeusz B. And Rose Marie Zini Targosz. Mr. Targosz Passed Away On Friday, October 19, 2018. Mr. Targosz Was A Tour Bus Driver, Truck Driver, An Avid Classic Car Enthusiast And Had A Passion For Automotive Detailing. He Volunteered With Pet Rescue And Meals On Wheels. He Was A Member Of Monterey United Methodist Church. He Is Survived By His Loving Wife, Teresa Targosz Of Monterey; Many Loving Family And Friends. The Family Will Receive Friends At Monterey United Methodist Church On Sunday, October 28, 2018, From 1:00 PM Until Time Of Services At 2:00 PM.

Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Mrs. Buchanan passed away Wednesday October 24, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of services.

Funeral Services for Mr. Willie Hugh Hughes, age 92, of Livingston will be conducted 3 p.m., Sunday, October 28, 2018 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Damon Corley will officiate. Burial will be in the Overton County Memorial Gardens, with Military Honors provided by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Hughes passed from this life on Wednesday evening, October 24, 2018 in Nashville. He was born in Overton County on December 30, 1925 to the late Charles Hasker & Dorothy Dean Sells Hughes. Willie was a member of the Allons Baptist Church and served his country in the Marines during WWII. He loved his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed deer hunting, turkey hunting and coon hunting with his wife Emogene, his greatest hunting partner. Willie leaves his loving wife, Emogene Fletcher Hughes of Livingston; son, Jack Hughes & wife, Pat of Livingston; daughter,Barbara Speck of Germantown, OH; son-in-law Bill Windle, grandchildren, Scott Windle, Jamie Speck, Melody Maples, Brittany Stanley, Shawn Hughes, and April Hughes; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Hughes & wife, Martha of Xenia, OH. In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Windle; sisters, Ethelene Rich and Evelyn Allen; brothers, Johnny, Delon, Ray, and Jim Hughes. The family will welcome friends on Sunday from 11 a.m. until time of services at Speck Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Willie Arvil “Bill” Griffin, age 75 of Sparta, will be conducted 11:00am Monday, October 29, 2018 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Bill passed away Thursday evening October 25, 2018 at his residence. Bill was born May 28, 1943 in Sparta to the late Cliney & Bertie Dilldine Griffin. He was a mechanic and tow truck operator and when he was not working on cars, he was working on and driving his race car. When not at the track he enjoyed fishing. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by wife Kathleen Griffin; daughter Juanita Griffin; grandchildren Willie Evan Griffin and Anita Griffin; brothers J.C., Clifford and Horace Griffin; sister Elizabeth Maby. Surviving family members include his wife Linda Faye Griffin; Children: Billy (Karen) Griffin, James (Jennifer) Griffin, Donna Griffin, Roger Griffin & Jeanine, Linda (Mitch) Brady, Lynn (Darlene) Luna; Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Sisters: Hazel Walden and Rhonda Lee; Brothers: Les, Melvin and Milton Griffin; Special friends: Curtis Austin and Richard Griffin; A host of nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside Services for Ms. Virginia Geraldine “Toot” West, age 95, of Livingston will be conducted 1 p.m., Monday, October 29, 2018 from the Holly Springs Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Sunday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Livingston Funeral Home Chapel. Ms. West passed from this life on Wednesday evening, October 24, 2018 from the Overton County Health & Rehab after a brief illness. She was born in Overton County on January 15, 1923 to the late Will & Bonnie Holman West. Ms. West loved to visit people and play cards, travel with the senior citizens and sit on her porch.

Funeral services for Ms. Ruth Philomena Fledering “Mama Ruth” Payne, age 79 of Sparta, will be conducted 6:00pm Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Sparta First Baptist Church. Burial will be 10am Friday, November 2, 2018 at Highland Cemetery. She passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at her residence. The family will receive friends Thursday from 3:00pm until service time at the church.

Memorial services for Daniel Lee Rose, 59, of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 11 A.M. at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at his residence. He was born June 10, 1959, in Brunswick, Maine, to Sylvia Rose and the late Robert Rose. He was married to Holly Robertson Rose, who survives. He worked in sales at Dunham Sports, and served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his Wife: Holly Robertson Rose of Cookeville; his Mother: Sylvia Rose of Maine; 1 Brother: Alan Rose and wife, Sandy; 2 Sisters: Linda Rose Deskins and Letha Rose Wesley and husband, Bob; Nieces and Nephews: Keath Deskins, Christie Engleman, Miranda Jacobs, Roxanne Armstrong, Co-Lee Grev, Misty Rose, Andrew Doble, Bob Wesley, Kara Robertson, Liam Robertson and Robert Mangrum; Caregivers: Jason Robertson and Charlie Williamson; and many friends.

Memorial services for Michael DeFosche, 68 of Whitleyville, will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at 2 P.M. in the chapel of Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Michael died suddenly at his home in Whitleyville. Michael had a love of music, stemming back to his early teens, loving everything from rock and roll to bluegrass. His later years brought him to the Opry and his love for old time fiddle blossomed. In the 80’s, he played fiddle and combined his vocal talents in a group called The Stillhouse Reelers. He later played back up musician on stage at the Grand Ole Opry to folks like Bob Douglas. He loved living simply, out in “the holler”, in the backwoods of Whitleyville. He loved fly-fishing, and because of his catch and release belief, got to know most of the fish who resided in his stream! He became a member of the Audubon Society, as well as a falconer and committed himself to the rescue and rehabilitation of many birds of prey. His talents included not only playing guitar, banjo, and fiddle, but also restoring and building them. He was predeceased by his parents: Alfred and Rachel DeFosche. Survivors include a Brother: Alfred DeFosche and wife Sharon, of Cookeville; a Sister: Cheryl DeFosche Cox of Clinton, CT; and Nieces: Meadow DeFosche Christ and husband David, of NC, and Rachel Cox Sackett and husband Gregory, of CT.

A Memorial service for Paul Michael Ryan, age 38 of Sparta, will be held at Thurman Funeral Home on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00 am. Paul passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loved ones, on Monday, October 22, 2018, after a long extended illness. Paul was born in Troy, Ohio to Glenn Ryan and Mary Kathleen Moore on November 20th, 1979. Paul is survived by his daughters Rylee A. Ryan and Madison A. Ryan; step-daughter, Ali Hollensworth; mother, Kathleen Moore; brother’s, Alan Ryan and Raymond Ryan; sister, Stephanie Winterfeld (Dan), Christina Perkins (Matthew), and Veronica Aguirre (Jamie); nieces, Sarah Ryan, Bethany Perkins, Raina Ryan and Miranda Ryan; nephews, Simeon Coppola, Dylan Winterfeld, Jacob Ryan and Victor Ryan. Special friends and family include Diana Gray (Moore), Charles Moore, numerous cousins, and their families. Family will receive friends at 10:00 am on November 10, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Thurman Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
