Alfred (Alf) E. Vinson, age 65 of Sparta, passed away on Thursday evening May 30, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Martha A. Bruton, age 74 of Livingston, will be held Saturday, June 1st, at 11 AM from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. The family will welcome friends on Saturday from 9 AM until time of services at 11 AM at Livingston Funeral Home. Mrs. Martha A. Bruton passed from this life on Wednesday morning, May 29, 2019, from the comfort of her own home. She was born in Overton County on March 24, 1945, to Ima Dean Sullivan and the late Louis Brown. She loved her family, spending time with her cats, and was a big supporter of 12 Step Programs.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bobbie Sue Waller, age 72, of Rickman will be conducted on Saturday, June 1st, at 11 AM from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Poplar Springs Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Friday evening from 5-9 PM at Speck Funeral Home. Mrs. Bobbie Sue Waller passed from this life on May 30, 2019, from Livingston Regional Hospital. She was born in Overton County on March 23, 1947, to the late Burt and Gladys Edmonds Barnes. She loved her family, enjoyed tending to her flowers, watched westerns on TV, and loved to go to church.
Funeral services for Mr. Junior Grogan, 89, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Rock Springs Cemetery in Clay County, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019, at NHC Sparta. He was born November 30, 1929, in Clay County, TN, to the late Millard Grogan and JoAnna Grogan. He was married to the late Velvet Grogan. He worked as a tree trimmer.

Rev. David Harris Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Lane Cemetery In Lancing, Tennessee. Mr. Jones Was Born On July 22, 1934, In Fentress County, Tennessee, To The Late William Emmitt And Bertha Lee Peters Jones. Mr. Jones Passed Away And Went Home To Be With The Lord On Tuesday, May 28, 2019, At The Kitty Askins Hospice Center In Goldsboro, North Carolina. Mr. Jones Grew Up In The Honey Creek Area Of Scott County. He Then Lived In Muncie, Indiana, Lancing, Tennessee, And Monterey, Tennessee, Working In the Garment Industry. In May 2015, After Failing Health, He Moved To North Carolina To Live With His Daughter And Family. Although He Missed Friends, Family, And Love Joy Baptist Church Where He Was A Member, He Embraced Life In North Carolina With A Good Attitude And A Grateful Heart. He Is Survived By His Daughter And Son-In-Law, Lynn And Gary Vanderpool Of Greenville, NC; 5 Grandchildren And Their Families. In Addition To His Parents, He Was Preceded In Death By His Wife, Mary Geneva Ellis Jones; Son, W. Bruce Ellis, Daughter-In-Law, Mary Ellis; Sister, Flora Jones Garrett; And Brothers, Lester, Clarence, Alfred, And Ernest Jones. Memorial services for Larry Hugh Brown, 84 of Baxter, will be Saturday, June 1 at 1 PM at New Home Baptist Church in the Boma Community of Putnam County. Bro. Charlie Wills will officiate. Mr. Brown died Thursday night, May 23, 2019 at NHC Healthcare of Cookeville. He was born September 26, 1934 in Boma to the late Francis Malbert and Ora Mae Anderson Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bert Brown. He was a 1952 graduate of Baxter Seminary. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1957, serving as a Sergeant. He was a member of New Home Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and served as a youth leader. Larry was a retired supervisor with the Social Security Administration with 30 years of service. Survivors include wife of 60 years (Married August 22, 1958 in Baxter) Marie Phelps Brown of Baxter, daughters Anna Brown and Glenda Medley both of Baxter, son and daughter-in-law Larry Dale and Claudia Brown of Maryville, grandchildren: Jackson Medley, Ashlyn Medley and Arianna Brown, a host of cousins. Special brother-in-law and caregiver W.O. Phelps. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until service time at the church. Memorial services for Estel Claude (Skip) Overstreet III, age 60, of Knoxville, formerly of Monterey, will be at 5 p.m. Saturday June 1 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Skip passed away Wednesday morning May 29, 2019. He was born November 12, 1958 to the late Estel Claude Overstreet II and Jo Nelda Vaughn Overstreet Stamps of Cookeville. Skip graduated from Monterey High School in 1976 where he excelled in sports. He enrolled at Roane State College on a basketball scholarship. He finished his bachelor’s degree in math and physical education and master’s degree in administration and supervision at Tennessee Tech University. He was an educator for over thirty-one years in the Putnam County and Lenoir City School systems, serving as a teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal and principal. He was selected East TN Principal of Year while serving at Lenoir City Elementary School in 2007. Skip was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church.
Funeral Service for Steven “Stevie” Wayne Jefcoat, age 53 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, June 2, 2019, at 3:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Baugh officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. He passed from this life on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at his home in Cookeville, Tennessee with his family by his side. Stevie was born Tuesday, November 30, 1965, in Landstuhl, Germany. He was the son of the late Jamie Kiwanis Jefcoat and Alice Faye Jefcoat. Stevie was a wonderful son, dedicated husband, loving dad and PawPaw. He was extremely career minded, serving 20 years in law enforcement where he was a captain for the last 10 years and was very proud of the way he climbed the ranks of his career. Stevie was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed. Visitation with the family will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again, Sunday, June 2, 2019, from 1:00 pm until time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Dr. Charles McCaskey will officiate. Interment will follow in the Phillips Cemetery. Mr. Wilmoth passed away Wednesday evening May 29, 2019 at Signature Health Care of Putnam County. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 – 8 p.m. and again Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time.
