Obituaries For Friday, June 18

Mrs. Charolette Warren , 84 of Cookeville died Thursday June 17, 2021 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete.

Memorial services for Mrs. Shelia Barnes, age 62 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday June 19, 2021 at 11 am in the Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Father Joe Weatherly officiating. Shelia Patterson Barnes died on the snowy morning of 1 December 2020. She was in the presence of the four closest members of her family, two daughters, a Son, and her husband…And her God. Her death, at age 62, was the irreversible result of a 26 months fatal progression. She passed away a professing Christian, a loving wife and mother. (She may have loved her grandchildren most of all). Shelia’s immediate family is her husband Sam T Barnes, Mary Jessica Workman and Jesse Patterson Barnes; her children by conquest are Molly Lisa Forsyth, Dorothy James Merritt, and Dr. Frank H. Barnes and his wife Dr. Izabela Barnes. Shelia was born in 1958 on Wednesday June 11 in Nashville. She attended Hickman County High School and went on to become the honor graduate x-ray technician At Columbia Community College. She began working at Cookeville General Hospital in 1976. She and Sam were married at the Baths on the island of Virgin Gorda on the full moon of April 1982. Jessica was born into their lives in April 1983. The next life-changing event occurred in 1986 when Shelia and Sam became members of a worldwide anonymous 12-Step recovery program. Then in August 1987 Jesse was born. Shelia’s family will receive friends Saturday from 10 am until service time at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Diana Garrett, 61 of Dunkirk, Indiana and formerly of Monterey will be held Saturday June 19 at 12 noon at Mt. Union Baptist Church in Clarkrange. Interment will follow in Campground Cemetery also in Clarkrange. Mrs. Garrett passed away Sunday June 13 at her home. Diana’s family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 8 pm at Horner Funeral Home and Saturday from 11 am until service time at church.

Funeral Services for Mary Alma Cole, 81, of Sparta, will be on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Oaklawn Funeral Home at 2 PM with Hampton Bisalski, Ben Dale, and Doug Goff officiating, with burial to follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. She passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, in Cookeville, TN. Mary was born on May 5, 1940, in Sparta, TN to the late Claude Eston and Mary Emma Hollingsworth. Mary was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church of Sparta, TN. She loved to play the piano, sew and be creative at home. She was known for her Cat Head Biscuits and potluck meals. Mary loved to entertain, visit and help friends and family. She was passionate about her faith. Surviving family includes: Daughter, Mary Carolyn Cole of Hernando, FL; Daughter, Mary Elizabeth Thomas (Jeff) of Cookeville. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 18, 2021, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home from 5 PM- 8PM. In Lieu of flowers, the family wish donations to be made to the church building fund.

A Celebration of Life for Jamey Bobrick, 62 of Gainesboro, will be held Saturday, June 19 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Gables, 75 East Veterans Drive, Cookeville. Mr. Bobrick passed away on Tuesday, June 15. Jamey was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandpa, uncle, neighbor, and friend. Jamey is survived by his Wife, Rhonda Bobrick; and four Children, Jason Bobrick, Britnie Bobrick, Briana and Austin Mayberry, and Jenna Bobrick.

Funeral services for Ruby Jewel Leslie age 74 of Livingston, Overton Co., will be held on Saturday, June 19 at 2 PM from the First Freewill Baptist Church of Livingston with burial to follow in the Ruth Chapel Cemetery. Officiating with the service will be Bro. Darrek Copeland and Bro. Nolan Cantrell. Mrs. Leslie passed away Tuesday evening, June 15 at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. She enjoyed a long career working at St John’s Hospital in Anderson, Indiana. Upon returning to Tennessee she worked many years at and retired from A.H. Roberts Elementary school in Livingston, TN and attended church regularly and was a longtime member of East 38th street Freewill Baptist Church in Anderson, Indiana an then First Freewill Baptist in Livingston, Tennessee. Ruby loved her family and friends very much and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her husband, Keith Leslie; and son, Gregory Phillips. Family will receive friends at the church on Saturday morning, June 19th starting at 10:30 AM prior to the 2 PM service.

Funeral services for Ricky E. Strong, 60 of the Center Grove community of Jackson County, will be held on Saturday, June 19 at 2 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Grover Rich Cemetery in Clay County. A Masonic service will be held on Friday at 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Strong passed away on Tuesday, June 15 at Signature Health Care in Algood. He was a retired carpenter, and a member of Tannehill Lodge #133 – Eastern Star #503. He was a 33rd Degree Mason, and served as a board member of Twin Lakes Telephone Cooperative for 14 years. Survivors include his Son, Brock Dillan (Marlanna) Strong of Tampa, FL; and two daughters, Atha Amanda (Kevin) Stinson of Hermitage, and Olivia Ann (Russell) Farley of Cookeville. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or the Twin Lakes Telephone Scholarship Fund by contacting the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services.

Memorial Services for Darrell “Shane” Thacker, 62 of Sparta, will be at 3 PM Saturday, June 19 at Cumberland Heights Church of Christ with Bro. Doug Downs officiating. Mr. Thacker passed away Thursday, June 17 in Cookeville. Surviving family includes his Wife of 37 years, Anita Thacker of Sparta; and their daughters, Leslie Francisco (John) of Sparta, and Lauren Perrigan (Devon) of Sparta. In Lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 19 at Cumberland Heights Church of Christ from 1 PM – 3 PM.

Memorial Services for Rhonda Gail Lee, age 62 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, June 19 beginning at 4:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Gene Williams officiating. Mrs. Lee passed from this life Monday, June 14 at Tristar Summit Medical Center in Hermitage. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, and friend to all who knew her. Rhonda is survived by her loving Husband, Young Tom Lee of Cookeville; her daughter, Tracey (Jamie) Johnson of Livingston; and three sons, Ronald (Theresa) Marshall of Cookeville, Michael (Arletta) Marshall of Livingston, and Walter (Darlene) Marshall of Livingston. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, June 19, from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00 pm.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Leigh Ann Simcox, age 72 of Livingston, will be conducted 2 PM Sunday, June 20th, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Bro. Tommy Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Simcox passed from this life on Wednesday night, June 16, 2021, from Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 31, 1948, to the late Terry and Johnnie Stout Johnson. Leigh Ann loved her family, spending time with her friends, going to the lake, cooking, and taking care of others. Mrs. Simcox leaves behind her daughter Tracy Palmer of Livingston; sisters Sherry Maynord and husband Rick of Livingston and Angela Gore of Hannibal, NY; and brother David Johnson and wife Leta of Gallatin. Pallbearers to serve are Chris Thornton, Brad Thornton, Robbie Maynord, Cole Cooper, Tommy Jones, and Cody Gore. Memorial Donations may be made to the Mustard Seed Ranch by contacting Speck Funeral Home. The family will welcome friends on Sunday from 12 noon until the time of services at 2 PM.

Celebration Of Life Services For Kenneth R. Welker Sr., Age 87 Of The Cumberland Lakes Community Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted On Monday, June 21 At 10:00 AM At The Monterey United Methodist Church. Rev. Christine Penner Will Officiate. Mr. Welker Passed Away On Wednesday, June 16 At The Standing Stone Care And Rehabilitation Center In Monterey. Mr. Welker Was An Accountant. He Was A Member Of The Monterey United Methodist Church. He Is Survived By one Daughter, Louise (Glen) Lindenberg Of Roselle, IL; and two Sons, Kenneth Jr. (Deborah) Welker Of Westfield, MA, and George (Donna) Welker Of Fairfield, OH. The Family Will Receive Friends At Monterey United Methodist Church On Monday, June 21, 2021, From 9:00 AM Until Time Of Services At 10:00 AM.
