Thomas James Herr, 81 of Sparta, passed away on Friday, April 9 at NHC Healthcare of Cookeville in Cookeville. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Quentin David Jones, 75 of Cookeville, passed from this life on Thursday, April 8 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Celebration of Life for Quentin David Jones will be held at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Junior McCowan, Age 84 Of Monterey, Passed Away On Thursday, April 8 At His Home. Funeral Arrangements Are Incomplete.

A Celebration of Life service for Tony Lynn Allen, age 59 of Cookeville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday April 10th at Life Church, The Edge Facility, 2223 North Washington Avenue, Cookeville. Pastor Alex Lisic will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date. Mr. Allen passed away Sunday March 21 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He fought a long hard 6-month battle of Stage 1V Cancer. His daily words, until his last, were “God’s Got This”. Tony’s sister, Frances (Joann) Allen says, “God’s plan is always our best plan regardless of our circumstances. God chose to let Tony enter those pearly gates to a place called Heaven. More than ever, I want to make sure I’m ready to meet Jesus. Now, there’s a certain Angel I’m anxious to see after I meet Jesus. His name is Tony! I pray everyone will be right there with me to enter in those beautiful gates to a place called Heaven!!!” The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

Graveside services for Earl Gene Smith, 80, of Cookeville, TN, will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 11 A.M. at the Old Antioch Cemetery in Jackson County. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021, in Cookeville, TN. He was born August 28, 1940, in Overton County, TN, to the late Dawson M. Smith and Josie L. Phillips Smith. He worked as a mechanic. Survivors include 1 Son: Joseph Smith of Cookeville. Bro. Mike Fox will officiate at the services. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Shirley “Sharon” Lee Hawkins, age 65 of Hilham, will be Saturday at 12 noon with burial to follow in Maxwell’s Chapel Cemetery in Hilham. Hawkins was born April 11, 1955 in Jackson County, TN and she passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at her residence in Hilham at the age 65. She was the daughter of Charlie “Greasy” Lee and Mildred Carwile Lee. She worked at Nielsen Manufacturing for 32 years before her retirement. Survivors include her son, Shawn Hawkins of Lilburn, GA; brother, Edwin (Brenda) Lee of Hilham. Visitation will be on Friday from 3 to 8 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home and again on Saturday, April 10, 10 am to 12 noon.

Memorial services for Deborah Ann Scott, 64 of the Whites Bend community of Jackson County, will be held on Saturday, April 10 at 1 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Miss Scott passed away on Monday, March 22 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born May 15, 1956, in Jackson County. She was a factory worker at Crotty, and a member of the Assembly of God. Survivors include her daughter, Amy (Erik) Pryor Baxter of Mt. Juliet. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 10 from 11 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Jason Wilson, age 49 of Sparta, will be conducted 2:00pm Saturday, April 10, 2021 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Saylors Cemetery. He passed away at 10:24pm Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Jason was born July 19, 1972 in Sparta, Tennessee to Doris Laree Nash Wilson and the late Walter Gene Wilson. Jason worked alongside his father at Wilson Motors in McMinnville where he sold cars and transported vehicles to and from auto auctions. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing and coaching baseball and basketball. He loved to read the Bible and spend time with friends.The family will receive friends after 1:00pm Saturday at Hunter Funeral Home. Clint Walker will officiate.

Memorial services for Robert Douglas Young, 82, of the Stone community of Jackson County, TN, will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 2 P.M. at the New Hope Baptist Church. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro, TN. He was born April 16, 1938, in Plymouth, MI, to the late Donly S. Young and Mabel Garnet Kincaid Young. On April 16, 1960, he was married to Dorothy Anne Young, who survives. He was a journalist, and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include his Wife: Dorothy Anne Young of Gainesboro, TN; 2 Sons: Scott Sheridan Young of Dunlap, TN, and Robert Douglas Young of Spring Lake, MI; and 2 Daughters: Dawn Renee Agee of Cookeville, TN, and Kimberly Anne Croisant of Whitleyville, TN. Bro. Randy Heady will officiate at the services. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, April 10, 2021, from 12 Noon until time of services. She passed away at the Select Specialty Hospital on Wednesday, April 7, 2021. Mrs. Vivian Adele Walker was born in Livingston, Tn. October 3, 1956 to Mr. Allard White and Mrs. Naomi (McAlpin) White. Survivors: Her Husband: Gary Walker (3) Sons: Michael Walker and wife Connie, Jason and wife Christina, Brandon Walker; Brother: David White; Sister: Vicki WhiteThe Family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, April 9, 2021 from 5 Pm to 8 PM. Ms. Phillips Was Born On July 26, 1973, In Cookeville, Tennessee, To Gary Phillips Of Monterey, Tennessee, And The Late Cathy Ann Bilbrey Phillips. Ms. Phillips Passed Away On Thursday, April 8, 2021, At The Livingston Regional Medical Center. Ms. Phillips Was A Typesetter Working 21 Years With Identity Group In Cookeville Until Her Illness. In Addition To Her Father, She Is Survived By Her Sister, Lori Phillips Of Monterey, TN; Brother And Sister-In-Law, Matthew And Chrystal Phillips Of Cookeville, TN; Maternal Grandfather, James Arlis Bilbrey Of Monterey, TN; Nephew And Nieces, James Phillips, Haley Phillips, And Cate Burton. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Sunday, April 11, 2021, From 12:00 PM Until Time Of Services At 2:00 PM.

Graveside services for Mrs. Margaret Patterson Holland Glover Howell, age 66 of Sparta, a native of Scotland, will be conducted 1:00pm Monday, April 12 at Clouse Cemetery. Mrs. Howell passed away on Friday, April 9 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Margaret loved traveling and reading. She enjoyed studying Native American History because it was so similar to Scottish and Celtic history. At a young age, she hitchhiked across Europe seeking out history and experienced meeting with a Guru. Survivors include her husband of 38 years Charles Howell of Sparta; and daughter, Debra Jean Glover of Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. There will be no public visitation prior to the service.

Funeral Services For Barbara Swallows, Age 69 Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted On Monday, April 12 At 11:00 AM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Sunday, April 11 From 5:00 PM Until 7:00 PM.

Funeral services for Mrs. Willene McHenry Keith, age 96 formally of Baxter will be held Saturday, April 17 at 1:00 PM at Baxter Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Curry’s Chapel Cemetery in Jackson County. Mrs. Keith passed away Wednesday, April 7 in Mechanicsburg, PA. She was the wife of the late Isam Keith. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 17 from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

A celebration of life for James Michael “Bobo” Borden, age 64 Of Cookeville, scheduled for Sunday, April 18th at Hidden Valley Golf & Country Club from 2pm-4pm. Mr. Morgan passed away on March 24th at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Michael was the General Manager of Hidden Valley Golf and Country Club for many years. He was also known as “Mr. White Plains” for the years he spent there. He was happiest on a beach, a golf course or watching the Florida Gators. He once asked the doctors if they were having trouble finding blood that was orange and blue. He was known for his sense of humor, funny one-liners and the stories he liked to tell over and over again. He was a big-hearted guy who touched many people’s lives with his kindness and generosity. He loved his family and his dogs and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Cristy; Stepson, Josh McDaniel; and his daughters, Kelli (Charles) Norris and Amanda Borden.
