WCTE Reestablishes Station Manager Role, New Tech Coming

WCTE has reestablished the Station Manager position, promoting Avery Hutchins to the role.

WCTE President and CEO Becky Magura said having this role filled will allow the station to focus on what’s to come in 2021.

“We’ve got a lot of balls in the air and we just want to make sure that we’re really fulfilling these projects and getting them done in a timely manner,” Magura said. “I think her attention to that detail is going to really help us.”

Magura said WCTE is preparing for new TV broadcasting standards. She said the new standards will provide more broadcast spectrum, allow for use as a training tool and feature two-way communication.

“WCTE is really on the brink of a lot of new technology opportunities,” Magura said. “With the new broadcast standard of ATSC 3.0, we’re very focused, hyper focused on being a public service in broadcasting.”

Magura said her confidence in Hutchins as Station Manager will open up more opportunities. Magura said she will be able to build on partnerships by getting out into the community with someone in this role.

“My goal is to be out more,” Magura said. “To really have an opportunity to build those strategic partnerships and to continue growing the connections we have here in Central Tennessee. For me to be able to do that, I really need to know that someone internally is focused on a lot of the day to day.”

Avery Hutchins was previously the Director of Development and Marketing. Hutchins joined WCTE in 2011.
