Filmmakers across the state and region can submit their projects now to participate in Cookeville’s Downtown Film Festival.
WCTE Director of Development and Marketing Susan Luna-Hazlewood said the deadline for submissions is July 24th.
“We have the young filmmakers award which is for ages 14 to 19,” Luna-Hazlewood said. “The best short film documentaries, which would be 15 to 39 minutes. The best mini documentary which would be under 15 minutes.”
Luna-Hazlewood said there are also categories for the best Tennessee filmmaker and best uncompleted work. Luna-Hazlewood said the event is not specific to Middle Tennessee, but creators nationwide can participate.
“I’ve been told all about it and how great it was, and I am so excited to go myself this year,” Luna-Hazlewood said. “It is a wonderful event for the Cookeville, Upper Cumberland community, and we are excited to be a part of it.”
Luna-Hazlewood said the best submissions and winners for each category will have their works screened at the event on August 28th. Winners also provided a direct pipeline to public media through the WCTE channels.
“They should go to Cookevillefilmfest.com,” Luna-Hazlewood said. “That has all the information about creating and submitting a film and attending the festival.”
Notification of festival acceptance status will be given to all entrants by August 14th.
