WCTE Blues And Brews Event, Local Beer And Live Music At Dogwood Park

WCTE’s annual Blues and Brews event returns to Cookeville’s Dogwood Park Saturday.

The beer tasting, music listening event is a big fundraiser for the non-profit. Director of Development and Marketing Susan Luna-Hazlewood said with last year’s event held virtually, it is exciting to be back.

“We relay on the community support and donations in order to fulfill our mission,” Luna-Hazlewood said. “All of our education programming, everything you all see on PBS, all of our community initiatives are funded by events like this, so we truly appreciate any support from the community.”

Luna-Hazlewood said a wide range of local brews will be available such as Calfkiller, Hix Farm, Jig Head and Red Silo. As for the Blues, Luna-Hazlewood said Few Miles On and Melissa Ellis will be performing.

“Come to Dogwood Park in downtown Cookeville,” Luna-Hazlewood said. “There will be plenty of places to park just around the park. Then, there will be signs that direct you exactly where to go to get a wrist band.”

Luna-Hazlewood said all participants will be I.D’d but underage people can still enter the park. Luna-Hazlewood said regular tickets cost $50, but a special VIP ticket is also available for $70.

“What you get with that is your own tent with tables, so you’ll have a place to come sit down that the general admission tickets do not provide,” Luna-Hazlewood said. “There will also be food provided from various local restaurants that would be available to VIP. They also have their won brewery Blackberry Farm.”

The event kicks off at Noon Saturday and lasts until 5:00 p.m. VIP ticket holders will have exclusive access at 11:00 a.m. To purchase tickets, visit wcte.org/brews.
