WCTE At-Home Learning Programming Continues

WCTE’s partnership with the state’s education department will continue this fall with more At-Home Learning programming.

WCTE President Becky Magura said stations across Tennessee are working closely with Education Commisioner Penny Schwinn to plan a new curriculum.

“We are in contact actually every week with the commissioner’s office,” Magura said. “They have a terrific team that is working with this at-home learning block.”

The summer PBS learning block will continue until the end of July. WCTE offers a daily block curriculum from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday thru Friday.

“Commissioner Schwinn was just at the White House discussing with President Trump about Tennessee’s commitment to at-home learning, but also, the many steps we are taking to make sure children stay engaged and active in their learning.”

The public television station partnered with the Tennessee Department of Education and stations across the state in early April to launch classroom instruction on television. Magura said education is the foundation of WCTE.

“Our call letters, WCTE, that “E” stands for education,” Magura said. “That has been who we are for the past 40 plus years, and that is who we are going to continue to be. Whether it is children’s content or life long learning content, WCTE is going to be committed to offering education opportunists in the Upper Cumberland.”

WCTE PBS is free over the air to all people and can be accessed by a home antenna, within an 80-mile radius of Cookeville.
