New commercial driving and construction courses coming to the Warren County Jail to rehabilitate inmates.
County Executive Terry Bell said the county has more than $800,000 of grant funding to create the classes.
“These grants are actually working with some companies that if they go through the training and fill all their needs they will actually have a job waiting on them when they get out of jail,” Bell said. “That is the whole goal. ”
Bell said the county will next need to purchase a tractor trailer and the equipment needed for the courses. Bell said an extra correctional officer position will also be hired to patrol the courses.
Bell said implementing the grant will take about three years. Bell said the classes will join a wielding program that has been successful in integrating inmates.
