Warren High School Offers Machine Technology Dual Enrollment Classes For Sophomores

Warren County High School is now offering a dual enrollment class in machine technology for its sophomores, one of few in the state.

Executive Principal Clark George said typically the courses are only for juniors and seniors, but that the opportunity came about from a partnership with Citizens for Progress and TCAT. George said the opportunity will be instrumental in getting students set up for future educational and job prospects.

“Kids can actually get out in the workforce and make a great way that will actually help to support their family once they get out of school,” George said. “So we’re very excited about having this opportunity for our sophomores.”

George said that the school is able to connect students to businesses in the area looking for new hires, and can have them set up with jobs upon graduation. He said that should students choose to transition their education to TCAT, within eight months those students will also be prepared to enter the workforce.

George said TCAT was the recipient of a million-dollar gift grant from the state and with the partnership, they have all kinds of new equipment.

“So we have kids that can be trained on machines that actually they can go out and get a job. Once they leave Warren County High School they can either transfer to TCAT and it’s kind of a seamless transfer. And usually about eight more months at TCAT and they can go out and get a job working at machine shop at one of the factories in hte area.”

George said the dual-enrollment class will be taken during their school day while getting credit at both TCAT and WCHS.
