Warren County Commission exploring options to put in a new 25,000-square-foot Health Department facility.
County Executive Terry Bell said this would more than double the size of its current facility. To achieve this, he said the commission is looking at buying the Three Star Mall that has been left vacant for three years.
“We’re just out of space,” Bell said. “Our health department was built in 1969 and at that time Warren County’s population was about 26,00 and today it’s over 41,000 or better. So you can imagine how much services have been expanded.”
Bell said the health department portion would cost about $4.1 million of American Rescue Plan money. Bell said another part of the mall would ideally be used for a UCHRA and Senior Center location. He said that portion will cost about $2.1 million.
Bell said the commission will consider moving forward with the option at its monthly meeting Monday.
