Warren County Fair: New Rides On The Midway, Get In Line Friday

The Warren County Fair starts Friday and promises to offer something new, while maintaining tradition.

President of the Warren County Fair Association Regan Kelsey said there are several new rides on the midway, but fair goers could expect the traditions the Warren County Fair are historically known for.

“That’s a traditional type celebration especially agriculture fairs go back hundreds of years,” Kelsey said. “Its a celebration of the harvest. Now we look at it as a celebration of life right here in Warren county. We celebrate the past, we celebrate the present and look forward to the future all at the same time.”

Kelsey said the Warren County Fair will hold on to its tradition with events like the dairy show, backhoe rodeo and one of the largest poultry displays in the state. There will be other events you wouldn’t normally see at a fair as well, including two stages of music. One performer will be American Country Music Award nominee Colt Ford. Kelsey said the Warren County Fair has something for everybody.

“Different strokes for different folks,” Kelsey said. “Some people like the entertainment. The ladies like the pageants. Some folks come out to just watch the antique tractor show. We offer so much stuff. Its the variety that appeals to people. Its a good old fashion county fair.”

Kelsey said what really sets the Warren County fair apart is the cost of the Warren County Fair.

“We are the only free fair in the state: free parking, free admission, the entertainment is free. You can come to our fair walk around, go in every exhibit building, see all of our entertainment, all our shows, livestock show, displays, and it won’t cost you any thing. If you ride rides at the carnival or buy some food, that costs money, but everything else we have is free. Especially in this day and time, that’s unique.”

Last year, the Warren County Fair was estimated to host 165,000 people over nine days. That makes the Warren County fair among the top three attended fairs in the state.

The Warren County Fair starts on Friday and runs until September 16.
