Warren Co. Driver Testing Center To Close July 1st

The Warren County Driver Testing Center will be closing July 1st.

Tuesday night the McMinnville Board of Mayor and Aldermen rejected a measure that would have funded the center for the next two years. Mayor Jimmy Haley said the state has decided not to fund the center in the upcoming fiscal year budget.

“It’s unfortunate that the state is cutting back in rural communities where citizen services are important,” Haley said. “I do understand that the Governor has to cut cost and has to follow his business plan.”

With the center closing, residents in Warren and surrounding counties will have to drive to Cookeville, Murfreesboro, or Tullahoma to get renewals.

Officials say it’s unlikely the center will ever be re-opened once it closes July 1st.
