The Putnam County Veterans Service Office needs a few volunteers when the Wall That Heals comes to Cookeville next month.
The 375-foot replica of Washington D.C.’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall will arrive April 17th at the Putnam County Sports Complex.
“The volunteers will be guiding people at the wall itself and assisting people at the interactive educational trailer,” Volunteer Coordinator Michael Glass said.
Glass said volunteers can be anybody and everybody, but he recommends that folks be 18 years of age and older. A few high school students have signed up to volunteer for the event.
The wall bears the name of 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. Nine Putnam County residents are listed on the wall and 65 from the Upper Cumberland region are included.
Anyone who would like to volunteer can contact the Putnam County veterans Service Office at 931-526-2432 or visit visitcookevilletn.com.
