Volleyball League Returns To Cane Creek

Whether you are looking to have fun, get competitive, stay active or just want to be a part of a team, Cane Creek Gymnasium’s women’s volleyball league is offering just that.

For the fifth year in a row, Cane Creek Gymnasium is offering women’s volleyball and athletic coordinator Lori Medlin said the league has been a hit. She said anyone from beginners to former players and everyone in between seems to join the league.

“It’s important for women to be able to continue the communities that they have and the support systems that they have,” Medlin said. “So, they’ve got their friends from high school, they’ve got their mother figures and everything and they all get together and play together.”

With registration for new teams over, this year’s league has ten total teams with each team averaging six to ten players. But, Medlin said with their “free agent” policy, those interested in playing can hop onto a team.

“If you’re new to the area and looking to get into something fun, this would be it,” Medlin said. “It’s not a very expensive league, we take free agent status so that if teams are looking for additional players we have that as well.”

Medlin said it is interesting to see the different rosters and their connections to each other. She said many high school volleyball teams will reunite to stay in touch and keep their skills on point.

The league has been such a success that they offer a fall league and a spring league. Medlin said if you missed this fall’s deadline to be ready for next April when the spring league kicks into season.
