Virtual Job Fair Set For February 17

Upper Cumberland job seekers will have an opportunity to connect with employers virtually on February 17.

The Upper Cumberland American Job Center will host its first virtual job fair. The event takes place from 10am to 2pm. Cookeville Veterans Employment Representative James Simpson said with unemployment rates high, jobs are available.

“I get contacted every single day by employers that are struggling,” Simpson said. “Needing good quality employees, needing folks to fill positions.”

The center has opportunities to help residents get ready for the event. Cookeville American Job Center Site Lead Tony Scionti said that job seekers can start reaching out now to the American Job Center to build their resume before the event. There are even mock interviews available to get prepared for interested employers.

“If they’re worried about interviewing for the first time in a while and have jitters, we offer workshops at the American Job Centers,” Scionti said. “We also offer other programs that might assist them in training to increase their skill if they’re looking at a skilled position at one of the factories that are open right now.”

In the lead up to the February 17 virtual hiring event, anyone interested can call the Cookeville or Crossville American Job Center. Scionti said Job seekers can also visit www.jobs4tn.gov and www.tnvirtualajc.com to get prepared for interviews.

Numerous local companies have already signed up for the event.

“The employers participation will draw the job seekers,” Simpson said. “The more that we can throw out names. Like just for right now, WISE International, Perdue, BabyNov, a brand new company in Red Boiling Springs.”

Crossville’s Tim Hunt said that his office has confirmation from Aviagen, MizKan, Averitt, CoLinx and Roane State.
