Vehicle Strikes Smithville’s College Street Bridge

Another vehicle has struck Smithville’s Veterans Memorial Bridge on College Street.

Yesterday a truck carrying cars struck the underside of the bridge. It marked the second such incident in just over a year.

Last June a dump truck struck the underside of the bridge causing significant damage. Just last month TDOT awarded a bid to repair the bridge, but construction has not yet started.

TDOT spokesman Jennifer Flynn said the latest incident will not effect the bid.
