The Putnam County School System sent additional personnel to Upperman High School Friday as students mourned the loss of Upperman study Olivia Taylor.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office found Taylor’s body Thursday after she was reported missing Wednesday. School Communication Supervisor Hannah Davis said additional counselors were made available.
“If they need resources they’ll start with their school,” Davis said. “At Upperman they’ll be able to go into the office and let them know they need to see someone, talk to a teacher, someone there and let them know they are needing that extra support and it will be provided to them.”
Davis said while they hope they never have to, in times like these the school’s counselors and social workers come together to meet the needs of the Upperman family.
Davis said the school system is deeply saddened about the tragic loss of Taylor. She said they sending thoughts and prayers to her family, friends, and the entire Baxter community.
