Upper Cumberland Mayors have come together to form a stronger voice during the pandemic.
Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster said the 14 mayors meet regularly with UCDD and UCHRA. When all 14 counties come together, Foster said more can be accomplished.
“I think that having a large group as a voice is a stronger way to be represented, and hopefully we can get together and talk about more topics,” Foster said.
Foster said things like economic development, public transportation, loan programs and meal programs are discussed over the UCDD and UCHRA meetings. More than 360,000 constituents can benefit from the services.
Foster said it started with phone meetings when the pandemic forced in-person meetings to be cancelled, and the power of their combined voices was recognized.
Foster said he would like to continue this singular voice model, so that more can be accomplished for Upper Cumberland residents.
