Upper Cumberland Family Justice Center Welcomes New Navigator

Livingston’s Upper Cumberland Family Justice Center has a new navigator in Mary Stephens.

Stephens said she acts as the first point of contact for anyone who comes to the Justice Center seeking aid. She said she works to make them comfortable and explains what the Justice Center offers.

“I work with the client and we decide what services they need and if they need an order or protection we work on that,” Stephens said. “We work on safety planning, and then we also have Genesis House who helps us out here and we also have other services like that.”

Stephens said it’s a gratifying job because she gets to help people in a time of need. She said domestic violence is not a problem unique to the Upper Cumberland, and that she enjoys playing a part in getting victims the services they need.

Stephens said she started as an intern at the Justice Center this past summer and recently was hired full-time.
