The Upper Cumberland Family Justice Center expanded today as a second facility officially opened in Livingston.
The new facility, which serves domestic violence and sexual assault victims, is located in the Overton County Chamber of Commerce building.
Livingston FJC Director Dana Looper said a several months ago they decided to expand into Overton County to better serve residents in Clay, Overton, and Pickett County.
“Based on our numbers, we were seeing that domestic violence is prevalent in these other counties, but the numbers of victims coming to see us really weren’t matching up,” Looper said. “Based on our stats, we acquired a grant through VOCA that agreed that we needed to come out to Overton County so we could better help those victims in Clay, Overton, and Pickett.’
The Family Justice Center’s main facility is located in Cookeville off Willow Avenue and Short Street.
The Livingston location will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
