Experts recommend updating your systems to keep on top of cyber security.
Eric Brown serves as assistant director of Cyber Security Education, Research and Outreach at Tennessee Tech.
“We’ve talked about the importance of making sure your personal systems are updated, whether that’s a smartphone or a computer, whatever your device is, it’s still a computer with software,” Brown said.
Those updates may not be fun to download and install, but they’re there for a good reason, Brown said.
“There will be bugs found at some point in the future and your timely response to that can contribute to a much safer cyber security condition,” Brown said.
Brown said the Department of Homeland Security created the “Stop. Think. Connect.” campaign to encourage residents to be aware of security during the month of October. That’s national Cyber Security Awareness Month.
