UCHRA and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office will be providing free, safe rides home this New Year’s Eve.
Sheriff Eddie Farris said any location up to five miles outside the Cookeville city limits is eligible.
“Keeping people safe in our county and in our community is certainly the most important thing to me as sheriff,” Farris said. “This is just one way that we are offering help in New Year’s Eve.”
Farris said his office’s role will be for back-up rides if an overflow occurs. Farris said even if your home is located within the county, the sheriff’s office will still help you get home. Farris said the same program was offered last year and several people took advantage.
From 9:00 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. New Year’s night, revelers can call 833-UCTRIPS (833-828-7477) to arrange a ride home. The service can not be used for transportation to other parties.
