UCHRA Awarded $3 Million Grant For New Complex

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has awarded the Upper Cumberland Human Resources Agency a $3 million grant.

The funding will be used for the agency to construct a new transit and administrative complex on Highway 111 in Putnam County. The new 30,000 square foot facility will house approximately 100 employees and is designed to centralize the agency’s operations.

UCHRA provides public transportation and other services to rural residents of all ages across the 14 county Upper Cumberland Region. According to its website, the public transportation services are funded by the Federal Transit Administration, TDOT, local human service contracts, fares, local revenues, and in-kind contributions.

Currently, UCHRA conducts about 900 trips each day, including 40-50 trips to and from Nashville.

“These funds create a huge opportunity for our organization,” said UCHRA Transportation Director Rebecca Harris. “I want to thank Representative Williams for his support throughout this entire process and for his help securing this critical funding; receiving these grant dollars means a great deal for our agency and our community.”
