The UCDD Executive Committee has approved a loan up to $250,000 to renovate the old UCDD office on South Willow Avenue.
Executive Director Mark Farley said a mental health group has interest in renting a portion of the facility.
“We’ve been renting it currently,” Farley said. “We’ve got a couple of renters in that facility that moved into it as is. Now we have another entity that’s looking at taking the remaining space, but they need some renovation, so we got to do some upgrades to that building.”
Farley said the building is almost 50-years-old and needs about $160,000 in general maintenance. Farley said the loan amount was increased since more repairs are expected to come when an architect evaluates the building.
Farley said the interested party would pay back the renovation costs as a part of the lease agreement. Farley said the mental health group is interested in the space since it is close to Plateau Mental Health.
Farley said renters already occupy over half the building, so repaying the loan should not be an issue.
